Type:  Theft - Shoplifting
Incident: 17-45535
Location: Clarence Street
Incident: On Monday November 27, 2017 just after 1:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a report of a theft from a business on Clarence Street.  Employees observed an unknown male attend to the store and conceal items under his clothing.  The male walked out of the store without making any attempts to pay.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area and located the suspect a short distance away.  The suspect was found to be in possession of the stolen property and was arrested without incident.  In speaking to the accused it was also discovered  he was bound by three court orders.  The accused a 32 year old Brantford man is charged with Theft Under $5000.00 and Breach of Probation x3.  The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date along with an Officer in Charge Undertaking with conditions.

Location:  Oak Street 
Incident: On Monday November 27, 2017 a resident from Oak Street reported that their residence had been broken into.  Sometime during the day unknown person(s) broke into the residence through a rear window.  Reported stolen was jewelry and electronics.

Incident:  On Tuesday November 28, 2017 a business on Elgin Street reported a Break and Enter.  Sometime overnight unknown person(s) gained entry into the secured compound and stole copper wire.

Incident: On Wednesday November 29, 2017 a complex on West Street reported a Break and Enter.  Sometime overnight unknown person(s) entered into the complex and broke into the laundry room and the machines.  Reported stolen was money.

Incident: 17-45359
Location: Allwood Drive
Incident: On Sunday November 26, 2017 just before 2:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a single motor vehicle collision on Allwood Drive.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area and located a vehicle that had been involved in a collision and was on the front property of an Allwood Drive residence.   Officers spoke to the driver who displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving.  The accused was transported to the police station where he was to provide two samples of his breath as required by law. The accused refused to provide the samples.  A 38 year old Brantford man is charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle While Impaired and Refuse to Provide Breath Sample.  The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date. 

Further the accused licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle being driven by the accused was impounded for 7 days.

Location:  Ontario Street 
Incident: On Sunday November 26, 2017 just after 6:00 a.m. the Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a residence on Ontario Street.  The homeowners reported that a family member and their boyfriend had come to the residence; they were asked to leave but refused.  The homeowners tried to get the two accused to leave when accused #1 began to threaten the homeowners, kicked in the front door to the residence and began to assault them.  Accused # 2 smashed out a window to the residence and also assaulted one of the homeowners.  The two accused fled the scene prior to police arrival.  The victims received non-life threatening injures as a result of the incident.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where the accused were arrested without incident a short distance away.  During the arrest, accused #1 was found to be in possession of a knife, brass knuckles a BB gun and a controlled substance.  It was also discovered he was bound by three court orders.  Accused #1 a 18 year old Ohsweken man is charged with Mischief to Property under $5000.00, Assault, Utter Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Breach of Probation x2 and Breach of a Prohibition Order under the Criminal Code.  He was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine) under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  A 16 year old Ohsweken woman is charged with Mischief to Property under $5000.00 and Assault under the Criminal Code.  The two accused were held for a bail hearing.

Location:  Murray Street
Incident:  On Sunday November 26, 2017 just after 12:00 p.m. a concerned citizen contacted the Brantford Police Service about two males that were fighting in the area of Murray Street and Colborne Street and that one of the males had a knife.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area.  The suspects had fled the area prior to police arrival.  Police searched the area for the suspects and located an individual who matched the description of one of the males who had had the knife.  The male was arrested without incident.  With the assistance of the BPS K-9 Unit a knife was located hidden a short distance away.  During the investigation it was discovered that the accused was bound by three court orders.  Brendon Patrick Gosse a 38 year old Brantford man is charged with Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace and Breach of Probation x3 under the Criminal Code.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Incident:  17-45487 
Location:  King George Road
Incident: On Monday November 27, 2017 just after 2:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on King George Road.  Officers performed a traffic stop and spoke to the driver.  The driver showed signs of impairment and was issued a demand for a roadside screening device.  The driver failed the roadside screening device and was arrested for Impaired Operation Over 80.  The accused was transported to the police station where he was to provide two samples of his breath as required by law. The accused samples were over the legal limit.  A 24 year old Brantford man is charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle Over 80.  The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date. 

Further the accused licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle being driven by the accused was impounded for 7 days.

Location: Market Street
Incident: On Thursday November 23, 2017 Brantford Police Service received a report of a Break and Enter from a business on Market Street.  Sometime overnight unknown person(s) entered the secure compound and broke into work vehicles in the parking lot.  Reported stolen was tools and construction equipment.

Location:  King George Road (200 Block)
Incident: On Thursday November 23, 2017 just before 1:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a call about a suspicious person hanging around a business on King George Road.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area and located the male.  While speaking to the male it was discovered he was bound by two court orders with conditions that he was not abiding by.  The male was also wanted on outstanding warrants in other jurisdictions.  The male was arrested without incident.  A 43 year old Cambridge man is charged with Breach of Probation x2 and was held for a bail hearing.

Location:  Dryden Street
Incident:  On Thursday November 23, 2017 a resident from Dryden Street reported their residence entered.  Sometime during the day unknown person(s) entered the residence through a rear door.  Reported taken was a gaming system and computer.

Location:  Lynden Road 
Incident: On Thursday November 23, 2017 just after 9:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a call about two suspicious persons hanging around a business on Lynden Road.  They were seen trying to break the front window to the business.  Community Patrol Officers attended and searched the area.  Officers were able to locate and arrest one of the males without incident who was found hiding in the area.  A 19 year old Brantford man is charged with Mischief to Property Under $5000.00 and Failing to Comply with Undertaking.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Type:  Traffic Stop - Arrest
Incident: 17-44732
Location: Wayne Gretzky Parkway
Incident: On Tuesday November 21, 2017 just after 5:30 a.m. Brantford Police Service observed a vehicle traveling northbound on Wayne Gretzky Parkway.  Information was received that the licence plates attached to the vehicle did not belong to that vehicle and the validation sticker was not the appropriate one for those plates.  Community Patrol Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver.  The driver was unable to provide any documentation for the vehicle and was unable to provide a drivers licence.  Upon investigation it was determined that the driver had provided false information to Police.  It was discovered that the driver was currently wanted on an outstanding warrant for his arrest as well as his drivers licence was currently under suspension.  During the arrest, the driver was found to be in possession of stolen property.  Shawn Gregory Marriott 39 years of Brantford is charged with Obstruct Peace Officer, Possession of Stolen Property under $5000 and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Co  de.  He is also charged with Driving Under Suspension, Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle, Use Plates not Authorized for Motor Vehicle and Use validation not Furnished for Vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act.  He is further charged with Failing to Surrender Insurance Card under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Incident: On Wednesday November 22, 2017 a resident from Curtis Street reported a theft from a trailer.  Sometime overnight unknown person(s) broke into an enclosed trailer parked at the residence.  The trailer contained tools.

Incident:  On Wednesday November 22, 2017 just before 7:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received information that a male bound by a court order was not following the conditions of his release.  Community Patrol Officers attended and confirmed that the male was not abiding by the conditions of his court order.  The suspect male was located and arrested without incident.  During the arrest the accused was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.  A 31 year old Brantford man is charged with Fail to Comply with Recognizance and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code and Possession of a Controlled Substance (marihuana) under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Incident:  17-44960 
Location:  St Paul Ave 
Incident: On November 23, 2017 just after 12:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received information from a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver in the St Paul Ave area.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area, however were unable to locate the vehicle.  Shortly after 1:00 a.m. a second report was received about the same vehicle in the downtown area.  Officers attended and located the vehicle on Dalhousie Street.  Officers spoke to the driver who displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving.  The accused was transported to the police station where he was to provide two samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused blew twice the legal limit.  A 42 year old Ohsweken man is charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle While Impaired and Operate a Motor Vehicle Over 80.  During the investigation it was discovered the accused was currently wanted on an outstanding warrant held in another jurisdiction.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.  
  
Further the accused licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle being driven by the accused was impounded for 7 days.

Type:  Counterfeit Money
Incident: 17-44603
Location: Fairview Drive
Incident: On Monday November 20, 2017 shortly after 9:00 a.m. a business on Fairview Drive contacted Brantford Police Service about a suspected counterfeit $100 Canadian bill.  An unknown male had attended into the store, purchased an item of low cost and paid for the item with a $100 Canadian bill.  The unknown male received his change and left the store without incident.  Employees from the store later suspected the bill was counterfeit. 

The Brantford Police Service Fraud Unit has confirmed that they have received several reports involving suspected counterfeit money over the past two weeks.  Suspects will usually purchase an item of low cost in order to receive the maximum amount of change in return. The bills that have been passed recently are the Canadian $100 and $20 Polymer bills.  These counterfeit bills may have ink that is flaking off the paper or look deteriorated, uneven cuts and have an improper security strip. Businesses are reminded to take the time to look over and check bills for their built in security features.

Location:  Colborne Street (400 Block)
Incident:  On Monday November 20, 2017 a business on Colborne Street reported a Break and Enter.  Sometime overnight unknown person(s) gained access through a side door, once inside they caused damage to the interior of the property.  At the time of the report it was unknown what was taken.

Location:  Colborne Street 
Incident: On Monday November 20, 2017 just after 10:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service were contacted regarding an online threat made towards a local high school.  A concerned citizen saw a video posted online where a student had made threats towards a local school.  Community Patrol Officers investigated the incident and identified a 13 year old suspect.  On Tuesday November 21, 2017 at 12:30 a.m. a 13 year old Brantford male was arrested and has been charged with Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death and was held for a bail hearing.

The Brantford Police Service reminds people that online or social-media posts are taken very seriously and are not treated as juvenile pranks.  The BPS treats acts of violence or threats of violence the same, they will be fully investigated and if warranted charges will be laid.  These acts include the threat to public safety and our community.

Location:  Colborne Street West
Incident:  On Friday November 17, 2017 shortly after 10:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a driving complaint about a truck towing a trailer that was driving all over the road and into oncoming traffic.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area located the vehicle and performed a traffic stop.  While speaking to the driver he displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving by drug.  The driver was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance.  The driver was transported to the Brantford Police Service for further testing.  The driver a 58 year old Brantford man is charged with Impaired Driving under the Criminal Code and with Possession of a Controlled Substance (marihuana) under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act. 

Further the accused licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle being driven by the accused was impounded for 7 days. 

The Brantford Police Service would like to remind the public that controlled substances and prescription drugs can affect a person's capability to safely operate a motor vehicle and can impair your driving ability.

Location: Black Locust Way
Incident: On Saturday November 18, 2017 a resident from Black Locust Way reported the theft of a trailer.  Sometime overnight unknown person(s) stole an enclosed trailer from the residence.  The trailer contained tools and construction equipment.

Location: Buffalo Street
Incident: On Saturday November 18, 2017 the superintendent from a residential complex reported that the building was entered and money taken.  Sometime overnight unknown person(s) broke into the building and laundry room.  The unknown person(s) broke into and stole the money from the laundry machines.

Incident:  17- 44076
Location:  Oak Street
Incident:  On Thursday November 16, 2017 shortly after 4:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a resident on Oak Street.  An unknown person had broken into their residence through the front door.  The home owners were able to keep the male there until police arrived.  Community Patrol Officers attended and arrested the male.  John Anthony Rebelo a 50 year old Brantford male is charged with Break and Enter with Intent and was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date.  He was also issued an Officer in Charge Undertaking with conditions.

Location: Fifth Ave
Incident: On Thursday November 16, 2017 just after 12:30 p.m. the Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a suspicious male that was in the area smashing car windows with a hammer.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located and arrested the male without incident.  In speaking to witnesses it was discovered that a disturbance had started at a complex on Fifth Ave where damage was caused to the walls.  The male had left and smashed three windows to vehicles parked in the parking lot.  The male continued and broke a car window in a school parking lot before being arrested.  Upon speaking to the male he provided false information to police.  Police were able to positively identify the male and discovered he was bound by two court orders and was wanted on two outstanding warrants.  The accused a 19 year old Brantford man is charged with Mischief to Property x5, Obstruct Peace Officer and Fail to Comply with Recognize Order x2.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Location: St Paul Ave - Metro
Incident: On Thursday November 17, 2017 just after 5:30 p.m. the Brantford Police Service received a call from a Loss Prevention Officer from the Metro Grocery Store.  An unknown male had attended inside the store where he concealed items under his clothing.  The male left the store without making any attempts to pay for the items.  The male was arrested by the Loss Prevention Officer.  Community Patrol Officers attended and upon speaking to the male discovered he was currently bound by a court order.  A 36 year old Brantford man is charged with Theft Under $5000.00 and Breach of Probation.  The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Incident:  17- 43946
Location:  West Street
Incident:  On Wednesday November 15, 2017 shortly after 12:30 a.m. a Community Patrol Officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle do a U-turn at the intersection of Market Street and Grey Street and take off at a high rate of speed.  The officer located the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop and had a conversation with the male driver. The driver displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving.  The accused was transported to the police station where he was to provide two samples of his breath as required by law. The accused refused to provide the samples.  A 25 year old Waterford man is charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle While Impaired and Refuse to Provide Breath Sample.  The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date. 

Further the accused licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle being driven by the accused was impounded for 7 days.     

Type:  Stolen Vehicle - Arrest

Location: West Street
Incident: On Tuesday November 14, 2017 a Ford Escape was stolen overnight from a residence on Grey Street.  On Wednesday November 15, 2017 just after 7:30 p.m. the Brantford Police Service Street Crime Unit located the vehicle parked at a West Street address. Officers from the SCU began surveillance on the vehicle and observed three males approach and get into the stolen vehicle.  The three males were arrested without incident before the vehicle drove off.  A 16 year old Brantford male is charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle and Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.00.  A 21 year old male and a 17 year old male both from Brantford are charged with Occupant of Motor Vehicle without consent.  All three accused were released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date along with an Officer in Charge Undertaking with conditions.

Location: Proctor Ave
Incident:  Sometime overnight on November 13, 2017 a vehicle parked on Proctor Avenue was entered. Reported stolen from the vehicle was a gym bag, gym clothes and money.

Location:  Sherwood Drive 
Incident: On Tuesday November 14, 2017 just before 11:00 a.m. the Branford Police Service was conducting a training exercise with their UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) in the area of Cockshutt Park located on Sherwood Dr.  While in flight police observed a male in the area of the boat launch who approach two steel garbage containers and proceeded to spray paint graffiti on them.  Further investigation revealed a third graffiti marking on the pavement off the drive way to the boat launch.  The accused Michael Joseph GILLON 25 years old of Brantford is charged with Mischief to Property Under $5000.00.  The accused was released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date.

Location: Colborne Street ? Factory Direct
Incident: On November 14, 2017 just after 6:00 p.m. employees from Factory Direct observed a male conceal a wireless speaker under his clothing.  The male left the store without making any attempts to pay for the item.  Employees called Brantford Police and Community Patrols Officers attended the area and arrested the male for the theft.  While speaking to police the accused provided a false name and information.  Officers continued their investigation and were able to positively identify the male.  The male was currently wanted on three outstanding warrants and was bound by a court order.  Brandon Eugene MacDougall 26 years old of Brantford is charged with Theft Under $5000.00, Obstruct Peace Officer, Personation with Intent and Brach of Probation.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Incident:  17-43804
Location:  Sheridan Street (0-100 Block) 
Incident: On Monday November 13, 2017 just before 9:00 p.m. the Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a Break and Enter.  An alert neighbour heard a window smash at the residence next door and observed unknown persons trying to get into the residence.  The suspects fled the area prior to police arrival.  Community Patrol Officers attended and searched for the suspects.  No entry was gained to the residence and nothing was reported stolen.

Location: Dalkeith Drive
Incident: On Tuesday November 14, 2017 just after 12:30 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a report about a Break and Enter at a business on Dalkeith Drive.  Unknown person(s) had entered the business through the front door and fled prior to police arrival.  Community Patrols Officers attended and checked the area for the suspect(s).  Reported stolen was electronics.
