BPS seek information from public related to trailer thefts; one man arrested
Incident # 22-18747
Officers with the Brantford Police Service, with assistance of Six Nations Police Service, have arrested a Branford man and recovered one trailer stolen from the City of Brantford.
Police investigation revealed that between Monday, April 12, 2021, and Monday, May 16, 2022, there have been nineteen trailer thefts reported in the City of Brantford.
The types of trailers reported stolen include utility trailers, dump trailers, enclosed trailers, flatbed trailers, and camper trailers. To date, police have recovered two of the stolen trailers, leaving seventeen trailers currently outstanding.
On Monday, May 16, 2022, at approximately 6:30 a.m., a dump trailer, was reported stolen from an Icomm Drive the parking lot.
On Monday, May 16, 2022, at approximately 1:20 p.m., members of the Brantford Police Service and Six Nations Police Service located the trailer at a location on Sour Springs Road, Ohsweken. A search warrant was executed, and the trailer recovered.
As a result of this investigation, Mathew COWAN, 25, of Ohsweken, stands charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, contrary to the Criminal Code.
Officers are seeking information from the public related to the thefts and are advising members of the public to store their recreational or utility trailers in well-lit, secure locations and to contact police to report any instances of property theft.

CRIME BRIEF: May 18, 2022
Type: Impaired - Drugs
Incident: 22-18967
Location: Gordon Street
On Wednesday May 18, 2022, at approximately 12:00 a.m. officers with the Brantford Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of Gordon Street.
Officers attended the location and observed a man slouched over the steering wheel of a running motor vehicle. The man appeared to be unconscious.
After several attempts, officers were able to wake the man and observed signs of intoxication.
The accused was subsequently arrested for drug-related impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
The accused was then transported in order to submit to a Drug Recognition Expert for further testing.
Testing found the accused to be impaired by drug.
As a result, a 32-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Operation While Impaired - Drugs, Section
- Operation While Impaired - Blood Drug Concentration
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.

Incident: 22-18952
Location: South Street / Darling Street
On Tuesday, May 17, 2022, officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to an assault related call for service which had occurred at two separate locations: a residence on South Street and a residence on Darling Street.
It was reported that at approximately 4:00 p.m., while a man was working in his yard at a residence on South Street, he was confronted by another man (the accused) regarding a dispute over alleged stolen property.
The accused is reported to have assaulted the 39-year-old male victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The accused then left the scene.
At approximately 8:40 p.m., the accused attended a location on Darling Street where he allegedly forced his way into the residence, pushing his way past an 18-year-old female victim, in search of the male victim from earlier in the day.
The accused is also reported to have uttered threats against the two victims.
As a result, a 52-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Assault x 2
- Breaking and Entering
- Uttering Threats

Incident: 22-18669
Location: Dunsdon Street
On Sunday, May 15, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of Lynden Road and Wayne Gretzky Parkway.
It was reported that a man had been refused service at a local restaurant due to intoxication and was then observed driving a vehicle.
A vehicle description was provided which assisted officers in locating the accused.
Officers located the motor vehicle travelling westbound on Dunsdon Street. The vehicle was travelling at a slow rate of speed, weaving within the lane, impeding the flow of traffic and did not have the vehicle’s lights on. As a result, a traffic stop was conducted.
In speaking with the driver, signs of impairment were observed. The accused was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation.
The accused was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit.
As a result, a 36-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Impaired Operation - Alcohol
- 80 Plus
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.
Type: Impaired – Drug / Trafficking
Incident: 22-18593
Location: Iroquois Street
On Sunday, May 15, 2022, at approximately 11:30 a.m., multiple calls were received from concerned citizens to alert police to a possible impaired driver, who was reported to have struck two cars parked on Iroquois Street with his motor vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Officers attended and located the accused nearby. Signs of impairment were observed by officers when speaking with the accused.
As a result, the accused was arrested for Operation While Impaired- Drugs.
Search incident to arrest located approximately 4.3 grams of suspected crack and approximately 0.8 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine. A scale and quantity of currency was also located in possession of the accused.
The controlled substances were packaged in such a way that grounds were formed for the charge of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
The accused was transported to complete a Drug Recognition Evaluation, where it was determined he was impaired.
Additionally, at the time of the occurrence, the accused was determined to be in violation of a valid probation order and two valid driver’s licence suspensions.
The controlled substances, currency, and drug paraphernalia were seized.
As a result of this incident, Michael Ross SHARKEY, 43, of Brantford, stands charged with the following:
- Operation while Impaired- Drugs- Contrary to the Criminal Code
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Breach of Probation- Contrary to the Criminal Code
- Drive While Under Suspension x 2- Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.
Type: Robbery with a Weapon
Incident: 22-18512
Location: Colborne Street
On Saturday, May 14, 2022, at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to a robbery related call at a convenience store located on Colborne Street.
It was reported that a female (accused) attended the store with the 21-year-old female victim and allegedly forced her to withdraw funds from a bank machine.
The accused is reported to have threatened to stab the victim and was believed to be in possession of a knife.
Officers attended and observed the exchange between the two females and what appeared to be the handle of a knife visible from a bag the accused was in possession of.
Additionally, information was received to advise that the accused was in violation of an undertaking.
Search incident to arrest found the accused to be in possession of a knife.
As a result, a 34-year-old female from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Robbery with weapon
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Fail to comply with undertaking
The accused was held for bail.
Type: Arson – Vehicle Fire
Incident: 22-18384
Location: Dalhousie Street
On Friday, May 13, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers of the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a location on Dalhousie Street in regard to an arson investigation.
Officers attended and observed the Brantford Fire Department on scene actively extinguishing two vehicles which were fully engulfed in flames.
The vehicles were located parked underneath the overhang of an apartment building.
Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire without any extensive damage to the apartment building however, the fire caused immense damage to both vehicles.
Investigation revealed that the accused is alleged to have purposefully set fire to the vehicles.
At approximately 1:15 a.m., officers located the accused nearby who was arrested without incident.
As a result of the investigation, Bryan Michael HENRY, 33, of Brantford (no fixed address), stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Arson - Damage to Property x 2
- Arson - Disregard for Human Life
The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Incident: 22-18321
Location: Helen Avenue
On Friday, May 13, 2022, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the accused attended a residence located on Helen Avenue, and after a dispute, the accused sprayed the victim, a 23-year-old female, with dog spray.
The victim suffered minor physical injuries as a result of the spray.
The accused and the victim were known to each other.
As a result, the accused, a 21-year-old female from Woodstock, stands charged with Assault with a weapon, contrary to the Criminal Code.

Location: Park Road North and Brier Park Road
On Thursday, May 12, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to the area of Park Road North and Brier Park Road regarding an assault.
It was reported that a 19-year-old male physically assaulted an unsuspecting victim, a 48-year-old male. The accused and the victim were not known to each other.
The victim sustained minor physical injuries and was transported to the hospital by emergency medical services for treatment.
Officers attended, located, and subsequently arrested the accused.
As a result of the incident, a 19-year-old male from Brantford stands charged with one count of assault, contrary to the Criminal Code.
Canada Road Safety Week: Safer You. Safer Me.
Today marks the beginning of Canada Road Safety Week, a 7-day national campaign aimed at making Canada's roads the safest in the world. This annual awareness campaign is designed to increase public compliance with safe driving measures in order to save lives and reduce injuries on Canada’s roads. The focus of this campaign continues to be on the elimination of impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and driving without a seatbelt.
This year’s campaign offers as a strong reminder that the decisions drivers make not only affect them, but also their passengers, other drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians with whom they share the road. Too many drivers make their choices based on the level of risk they are personally willing to accept, with a total disregard for the risk they pose to others. That’s why this year’s campaign theme is "Safer You. Safer Me.”
During Canada Road Safety Week 2022, drivers are reminded to keep their eyes on the road, keep their hands on the wheel, keep their head focused on driving, and keep the safety of themselves and others in mind when they make decisions at the wheel.

Motorcycle Safety: Road safety is a shared responsibility
The Brantford Police Service makes educating the public in safe driving practices a road safety priority. An essential part of our job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways. Our ongoing enforcement initiatives focus on impaired driving, aggressive driving, distracted driving, and speeding. These behaviours endanger drivers, passengers, all road users, and pedestrians at risk of serious or fatal injury collisions.
At this time of year, we would like to remind all motorists that road safety is a shared responsibility. Riding season is here, and we would like to remind car drivers of the need to be aware of motorcycles and to share the road.
Riding a motorcycle is riskier than driving a car. In fact, a crash as a motorcyclist is almost 30 times more likely to be fatal than as a motorist. For motorcyclists, there are a number of steps you should take to stay safe, including:
Take a safety course
A safety course will teach you the rules of the road for motorcycles. You will also learn the appropriate actions to take in unpredictable riding situations that can arise. Driving a motorcycle requires skill and good judgment and a safety course can help you practice these. Consider an advanced riding course to learn collision avoidance maneuvers, advanced turning, control tips and braking techniques.
Gear up
No matter how hot it is outside, shorts, a T-shirt and sandals are not proper riding attire. You can go for extreme protection with leathers or reinforced jackets, pants, and boots.
Glasses or goggles are a must if you have an open-faced helmet and to protect your hands, you should always wear gloves. In warm weather there is specially designed gear that is intended for ventilation and cooling. And, it should go without saying, never ride without a DOT-approved helmet.
Inspect your ride
Make sure your motorcycle is in proper working order every time you go for a ride. This includes checking tire pressure, mirrors, and lights. Taking a quick walk around your bike will give you an idea if there are any loose bolts, leaks, or other potential mechanical hazards. Be diligent about regular care and maintenance.
Stay in the comfort zone
Know your abilities and make sure that neither your chosen route nor motorcycle is more than you can handle. Never ride beyond your skill level.
Use your head
Don’t rely solely on your mirrors to remain aware of what’s in your immediate riding space. It’s important to keep your head and eyes up while rounding corners and that the safest way to change lanes is to actually turn and look over your shoulder to make sure you are clear. You will also be able to get a feeling for whether other drivers are paying attention to you.
Watch the road
Pay attention to the road you are riding on. Err on the side of caution when going into curves; be vigilant for potential gravel or other unstable road conditions. Be careful when crossing railroad tracks because the paint can be slippery—the same goes for the white lines at stoplights.
No safety in numbers
Group rides can be risky due to riders covering too much of the roadway, riders driving side-by-side, and having a mix of riders of various skill levels. Hold a pre-ride meeting to talk about your ride strategy and to review hand signals. Select a skilled group lead and sweep. Keep your group size manageable. Ride only in a staggered formation. Leave a safe and proper following distance between motorcycles. Take breaks to prevent fatigue.
Shared responsibility
Road safety is a shared responsibility. As a car driver, be aware of your blind spots, slow down behind motorcycles, don’t tailgate, and use your turn signals. One of the most common causes of collisions between motorcycles and cars is the car driver turning left in front of the oncoming motorcycle, often due to speeding or lack of visibility. If driving a vehicle and making a turn or changing lanes, "look twice, turn once”.
Never drive impaired
Operating a motorcycle while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or fatigue, puts you and all road users at risk.

CRIME BRIEF: May 11, 2022
Type: Impaired - Alcohol
Incident: 22-17398
Location: West Street
On Sunday May 8, 2022, at approximately 2:10 a.m., patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a motor vehicle without proper headlights, operating in violation of the Highway Traffic Act. The vehicle was travelling northbound on West Street, towards Charing Cross Street.
A traffic stop was conducted. When speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.
After failing the Approved Roadside Screening, the accused was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to provide suitable samples of breath as required by law. Both samples were over the legal limit.
As a result, a 20-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following:
- Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Drive Without Proper Headlights - Motor Vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.
Type: Stunt Driving
Incident: 22-17361
Location: Colborne Street
On Saturday, May 7, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed, what appeared to be, two persons entering into the trunk of a motor vehicle at a location near Colborne Street and Clara Crescent.
A traffic stop was conducted and two persons, a 17-year-old male and a 17-year-old female, were located within the trunk of the motor vehicle.
As a result, an 18-year-old female from Brantford stands charged with the following Highway Traffic Act Violations:
- Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt
- Person In Trunk
The occupants of the trunk were each charged with Fail to Occupy Position with Seatbelt.
Additionally, the motor vehicle was impounded for 14 days, and the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended for 30 days.
Stunt driving is the act of excessive speeding, street racing, contests and engaging in dangerous driving practices in a motor vehicle. It is driving that is careless and it puts others at risk and carries severe penalties, even for a first offence.
The maximum fine for stunt driving in Ontario is $10,000. Upon conviction, drivers could also face up to six months in prison.
Type: Stunt Driving – Impaired / Alcohol
Incident: 22-17296
Location: King George Road
On Saturday, May 7, 2022, at approximately 9:50 a.m., patrol officers in the area of King George Road and Powerline Road were conducting road safety enforcement when they observed a vehicle travelling at an excessively high rate of speed.
The vehicle registered at 131 km/hr. in a posted 80 km/hr. zone.
A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was placed under arrest for Stunt Driving and Speeding under the Highway Traffic Act.
In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.
After failing the Approved Roadside Screening, the accused was transported to provide suitable samples of breath as required by law. Both samples were three times the legal limit.
As a result, a 47-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following:
- Over 80 mg, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Drive Motor Vehicle - perform stunt "speeding by 50 or more kilometres per hour in an 80 km hour zone," contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
- Speeding 131 km/h in a post at 80 km an hour zone, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Additionally, the motor vehicle was impounded for 14 days, and the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended for 90 days.
Type: Assault with a Weapon
Incident: 22-17036
Location: Brant Avenue / Icomm Drive
On Thursday, May 5, 2022, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched in regard to a weapons related call in the areas of Brant Avenue and Icomm Drive.
Investigation revealed that, in the area of Brant Avenue and Church Street, a 13-year-old male allegedly shot a 16-year-old male victim in the back with a pellet gun.
It is reported that the accused then departed the area, where he travelled to an Icomm Drive location and allegedly shot a second victim, a 14-year-old male, with the pellet gun.
Officers attended the area, located the accused and the pellet gun.
Both victims received minor physical injuries.
As a result of this incident, a 13-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Assault with a Weapon x 2
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
As per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused in this incident will not be released.

Incident: 22-16842
Location: Colborne Street
On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a break and enter at a medical clinic, located in the area of Colborne Street and Bain Street.
Investigation revealed that the accused remained hidden inside until the clinic closed, and employees had vacated the premises. The accused allegedly stole a number of items from the clinic before leaving through a locked door.
Officers attended and thru investigation located and arrested the accused.
As a result of this investigation, a 26-year-old female from Brantford (no fixed address) stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Breaking and Entering
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

Incident: 22-16830
Location: Colborne Street West
On Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at approximately 5:30 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a dispute between two customers within a fast-food business located on Colborne Street West.
It was reported that a male customer had become verbally abusive towards an employee. A female customer, observing this behaviour addressed the man, speaking up in the employee’s defense.
The accused then proceeded to threaten the 24-year-old female customer with physical violence, allegedly chasing her to her vehicle, where she then locked herself inside and called police. The accused continued to threaten the victim while kicking her vehicle.
Officers arrived on scene and the accused was taken into custody.
As a result of the incident, a 69-year-old man from Brantford (no fixed address) stands charged with Uttering threats, contrary to the Criminal Code.
Type: Impaired - Drug
Incident: 22-16498
Location: Charing Cross Street
On May 1, 2022, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a suspicious vehicle type call in the area of Charing Cross Street and North Park Street.
A concerned citizen called to advise an male, who appeared to be unconscious, was in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle.
Officers attended and located the vehicle which was still running. An unresponsive man was occupying the driver’s seat.
Officers were able to wake the man. In speaking with the man, officers observed signs of intoxication. Drug paraphernalia was in clear view.
The accused was taken into custody, as officers formed reasonable grounds that the accused's ability to operate a conveyance was impaired.
A drug recognition expert evaluation was performed, and it was determined the accused’s ability to operate a conveyance was impaired by drugs.
As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old male from Brantford stands charged with Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to the Criminal Code.

Incident: 22-16285
Location: Market Street
On Saturday, April 30, 2022, at approximately 1:10 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to a location on Market Street for a report of a possible impaired driver.
It was reported that after having hit a metal fence with his vehicle, a male driver then left the scene on foot.
Officers attended and located the unoccupied vehicle which had sustained minor damage. An open alcoholic beverage was observed in the vehicle’s cupholder.
Through investigation, officers located the accused nearby. In speaking with the male, officers observed signs of intoxication.
Due to the level of intoxication observed, the accused was unable to provide suitable breath samples and was transported to hospital to receive medical attention.
Information was received indicating that the accused is a young driver bound by the conditions of his licence to not consume alcohol while in care and control of a motor vehicle.
As a result, a 20-year-old male from Hagersville stands charged with the following:
- Operation While Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code
- Fail to Stop at Accident contrary to the Criminal Code
- Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act
- Young Driver - B.A.C above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
- Contravene Licence Condition - Driving Ability contrary to the Ontario Regulation 340/94
Additionally, the motor vehicle was impounded, and the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended.
Type: Possession of Stolen Goods
Incident: 22-16014
Location: Market Street South
On Thursday, April 28, 2022, officers with the Brantford Police Service arrested the accused, in regard to an unrelated investigation in a parking lot located on Market Street South.
During a search incident to arrest, officers located a memorial plaque in her possession.
This memorial plaque was previously reported stolen from a local cemetery.
As a result, a 27-year-old female of no fixed address, stands charged with Possession of Stolen Goods Under $5000, contrary to the Criminal Code.
BPS celebrating Police Week May 15–21
The Brantford Police Service is joining police services across Ontario in kicking off Police Week (#PoliceWeekON), which celebrates the work front-line police officers, 9-1-1 communicators, civilian staff, and all members of Ontario police services do to keep Ontarians safe and healthy.
This year, Police Week runs from May 15 to 21, 2022. The theme for the week is Your Police Services: Helping Build Safer Communities, which highlights and celebrates the vital role our police officers and personnel play in helping Ontarians build and maintain healthy and safe communities across our Province.
Police Week was first observed in 1970 and coincides with the Peace Officers Memorial Day, which is recognized internationally on May 15. "This year, we look forward to being able to highlight some of the exceptional work of our officers and personnel and thank them for their dedication to our community,” said Robin Matthews-Osmond, Brantford Police Service Corporate Communications Manager.

driving, distracted driving, and speeding. These behaviours endanger drivers,

During the month of May 2022, the BPS Traffic Unit has
heard the community’s concerns regarding the noise pollution of excessively
loud vehicles on roadways in residential areas. We will be conducting
enforcement and public education in regard to vehicles making unreasonable and
unnecessary noise as well as an increased focus on improperly modified vehicles.

education will be in effect in an effort to promote safe driving behaviours and
ensure motorists are aware of the rules of the road.
The Highway Traffic Act of Ontario indicates
that a person having control of a vehicle shall not "make unreasonable noise, and a driver of any motor vehicle shall
not permit any unreasonable amount of smoke to escape from their motor vehicle,
nor shall such driver at any time cause the motor vehicle to make any
unnecessary noise.”
A focus of this ongoing project is to reduce
the number of motor vehicles with modified and/or excessively loud exhaust
systems on the roads. Vehicles will be subject to charges, including Improper
Muffler and Unnecessary Noise, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA). The penalties under the HTA include
fines of $110 upon conviction.
Vehicles found to be unlawfully modified will
be reported to the Insurance Bureau of Canada with the potential of a policy
suspension.
We encourage vehicle owners to repair
modified exhaust systems and avoid using devices such as factory-issued
mechanisms to alter and increase their vehicles' sound in quiet, residential
areas.

BPS continue suspicious fire investigations, seek suspect information
The Brantford Police Service are continuing to
investigate a number of suspicious fires, dating back to January 2022 and are
seeking additional suspect information from the public.
Police are asking any members of the public who reside close to the location of any of the incidents, and who have not already done so, to review any video surveillance footage which may have captured the suspects responsible for these fires.
Police have reason to believe the fires were deliberately set and have been working to identify suspects seen in the area. All of the fires were quickly controlled and resulted in minor property damage. No physical injuries occurred as a result of the fires.
Police are asking homeowners and business owners in these areas to review their video surveillance equipment for the following dates and locations for any video that may assist in these investigations.

CRIME BRIEF: April 28, 2022
Type: Break & Enter
Incident: 22-15853
Location: Grey Street
On Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at approximately 10:15 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service received a call regarding a break and enter in progress at a fenced compound located on Grey Street.
The accused is reported to have illegally entered the compound and proceeded to then enter multiple parked motor vehicles.
Officers attended and located the accused inside a vehicle within the compound.
The accused was placed under arrest for the offence of break and enter with intent. At this time, it was determined that the accused had provided a false name and date of birth to the officers.
Investigation revealed that the accused was wanted by two neighbouring police services on outstanding arrest warrants.
As a result, the accused, Brenden DESHAIES, 23, of Brantford (No Fixed Address), stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Break, enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence
- Obstruct a Peace Officer
The accused was held for bail.

Incident: 22-15403
Location: Icomm Drive
On Saturday April 23, 2022, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a parking garage located on Icomm Drive regarding a theft investigation.
While enroute, police received information that the victim, a 24-year-old male, located and confronted the accused who was found inside the victim’s vehicle in possession of two skateboards.
Officers arrived on scene, arrested, and charged a 48-year-old man from Brantford, (No Fixed Address), with one count of Theft Under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code.
Type: Impaired - Alcohol
Incident: 22-15325
Location: Forest Street
On Saturday, April 23, 2022, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call to report a motor vehicle collision which had just occurred on Forest Street.
Investigation revealed that a motor vehicle travelling east-bound on Forest Street, had allegedly lost control, struck a parked vehicle, then mounted the curb before side-swiping a tree and coming to rest in the driveway of a Forest Street residence.
Significant damage to both the parked vehicle and the vehicle the accused was driving had occurred.
Officers arrived on scene and in speaking with the driver, observed signs of impairment.
The accused was subsequently arrested for Operation While Impaired and was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.
Both samples provided were over the legal limit.
As a result, a 25-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle towed.

Incident: 22-15310
Location: Dalhousie Street
On Saturday, April 23, 2022, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service who were on general patrol, driving westbound on Dalhousie Street observed a vehicle travelling the wrong way on Dalhousie Street. Dalhousie Street is a one-way road.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and, in speaking with the driver, observed signs of impairment. Additionally, open containers of liquor were located in the vehicle and the permit for the vehicle was found to be expired.
After failing the Approved Roadside Screening, the accused was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to provide suitable samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit.
As a result, a 29-year-old man from Tillsonburg, stands charged with the following:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act
- Driver Motor Vehicle, No Currently Validated Permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Additionally, the accused’s vehicle was impounded for seven days, and his driver's licence was seized and suspended for ninety days.
Type: Impaired - Alcohol
Incident: 22-15137
Location: West Street
On Friday, April 22, 2022, at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to the area of West Street and Wadsworth Street, for a possible impaired driver.
Police attended the area, located the vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop.
In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment and an open bottle of alcohol within reach of the driver.
The accused was found to be driving in violation of a licence suspension.
While in the police cruiser, the accused was physically ill. As a safety precaution Emergency Medical Services attended to evaluate the accused.
The accused was subsequently arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples were over twice the legal limit.
As a result, a 22-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following:
- Operation While Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code
- 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code
- Drive while under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Additionally, the accused’s vehicle was impounded for seven days, and his driver's licence was suspended for an additional ninety days.
Type: Impaired – Dangerous Operation
Incident: 22-15006
Location: Park Avenue
On Thursday, April 21, 2022, at approximately 7:30 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a single motor vehicle collision, where the vehicle had struck a house located on Park Avenue.
Investigation revealed that the vehicle had failed to stop at a nearby stop sign and struck the home, landing on its side.
The home and vehicle sustained significant damage as a result of the collision. No-one within the home sustained any physical injuries.
Officers arriving on scene observed signs of impairment when speaking with the driver of the vehicle.
The driver was transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The male passenger of the vehicle did not receive any physical injuries as a result of the incident.
As a result of the investigation, Charnell FOLLAND, a 33-year-old female from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Operation while Impaired
- Dangerous Operation
Search incident to arrest, found the accused to be in possession of the following:
- Approximately 4.3 grams of suspected heroin
- Approximately 3.12 grams of suspected fentanyl
- Identification which was previously reported as stolen
- Replica firearms
As a result, the accused also stands charged with the following violations:
- Possession Schedule 1, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and
- Possession of Stolen Goods Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code.
Type: Impaired - Alcohol
Incident: 22-14996
Location: Colborne Street West
On Thursday, April 21, 2022, at approximately 3:45 a.m., patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, swerving into oncoming traffic in the area of Colborne Street West and Welsh Street.
A traffic stop was conducted and in speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.
After failing the Approved Roadside Screening, the accused was arrested for Impaired Operation, Blood Alcohol Concentration and was transported to provide suitable samples of breath as required by law. Both samples were over the legal limit.
Information was received to indicate that the accused was a G2 level driver and in violation of the terms of the licence.
As a result, a 24-year-old man from Brant County stands charged with the following:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Novice Drive – Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.
Type: Assault
Incident: 22-14952
Location: Icomm Drive
On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to the skate park on Icomm Drive in regard to an assault.
Initial information was received that a 25-year-old male victim had been stabbed in the neck and the assailant had fled on foot.
Upon police arrival, the victim was receiving treatment by Emergency Medical Services for a laceration to the back of the head and was transported to hospital for further treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police investigation determined the identity of the accused. Information was received to confirm a knife was used by the accused during the altercation.
Officers located the accused nearby and, as a result of the investigation, Dominic John Anthony LOWE, 25, of Brantford, stands charged for the following Criminal Code offences:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Uttering threats to cause Death or Bodily Harm
The accused was held for bail.

Incident: 22-14811
Location: Glenwood Drive
On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at approximately 11:05 p.m., patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a vehicle travelling in an erratic manner on Mary Street.
To determine sobriety of the driver, officers conducted a traffic stop on Glenwood Drive.
In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.
The accused was arrested for Operation while Impaired and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.
Both samples provided were over three times the legal limit.
As result, a 45-year-old woman from Brantford stands charged with:
- Operation with over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle towed.
Type: Utter Threats / Weapon
Incident: 22-14695
Location: Icomm Drive
On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at approximately 7:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a parking garage on Icomm Drive after a 25-year-old female was threatened with what she believed was a firearm.
The accused is alleged to have had uttered threats after startling the victim as she exited the elevator by pointing a piece of metal in the shape of a firearm at her in a threatening manner.
The victim did not sustain any physical injuries as a result of the incident.
Officers attended and located the accused who was found to be in violation of a valid probation order.
As a result, David Scott Hill, 29, of Brantford (No Fixed Address) stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Utter Threats
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Breach of Probation Order
