Brantford Male Arrested for Armed Carjacking
Incident # 20-36630
On Friday, September 18th, 2020 at approximately 9:00 pm Brantford Police Service 9-1-1 dispatch received a call from a 26 year old male to report that he had just been robbed at gun point on Chatham Street.
The victim reported he had been assaulted by a male suspect who then pointed a firearm at him, and stole the victim’s vehicle, a 2015 Toyota Camry. The suspect was unknown to the victim and the violent encounter was unprovoked.
At approximately 12:30 am, Saturday, September 19th, 2020, Brantford Police located the victim’s vehicle parked at a Colborne Street motel. Investigation revealed that the accused was within a room at the motel.
Members of the Brantford Police Service Emergency Response Team recovered the stolen vehicle and successfully arrested the accused at approximately 2:18am.
As a result of the investigation, a 26 year old male from Brantford is charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Robbery with a firearm
- Point firearm
- Weapons dangerous
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Possession stolen property over $5,000
- Breach probation
