Brantford Police Continue to Investigate the Shooting at a Residence on Strawberry Lane

On Wednesday December 4, 2019 at approximately 11:15 p.m. an unknown shooter fired numerous shots into the front of the residence. Investigation revealed that many of the rounds penetrated the second story and entered into the bedroom of a sleeping two year old female. At least one of the bullets narrowly missed the toddler who was sleeping in her bed.
The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit is continuing to investigate this incident. Police have canvassed the area and have spoken to a number of residents. Police continue to appeal to the public for their assistance. Anyone with information or anyone who may have surveillance video in the area is asked to contact police.

Brantford Resident Charged with Child Luring Offences

On December 3rd, 2019 the Brantford Police Service was alerted by the United States -Homeland Security and the Alburquerque Police Department that a male from Brantford had engaged in on-line luring of a female believed to be 14 years of age.
As a result of the joint investigation, members of the Brantford Police CASA Unit (Child Abuse and Sexual Assault), arrested a 60 year old male resident of Brantford and charged him with sex related offences, including Luring a child under 16 yrs old.
Members of the BPS-CASA Unit further executed a search warrant at a residence on Freeborn Ave, where they seized several computers and electronic devices used to facilitate the offences.
Police believe that the accused used several social media chat sites with the user name of Canadainman_47. The Brantford Police Service believes that there may be other victims.

Brantford Police assist City Officials at Homeless Encampment
Upon Police arrival, a fire was seen encompassing part of the encampment and Officers had to move quickly in order to rescue an individual before he was injured. Brantford Fire was contacted, attended and quickly extinguished the fire. A criminal investigation is now being conducted into the fire and how it started. While Officers were onscene, Emergency Medical Services needed to be contacted for a male who was found unresponsive in the encampment and who may have been suffering from hypothermia.
The Brantford Police Service will continue to assist in keeping the peace while the City and other agencies work to assist those that belong to this encampment.
