On Saturday, February 15, 2020 at approximately 1:50am Brantford Police Service responded to a disturbance at a business on Market Street. 

Prior to police arrival, two females were involved in a physical altercation inside the business. The two females were separated and escorted outside of the building by staff. Once outside the altercation continued.  Shortly thereafter an unknown male stepped in and became involved in the altercation. 

Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the three parties who were actively engaged in a physical altercation in front of the establishment. While attempting to separate the parties, the male involved resisted and a handgun fell from his person and onto the ground.  Officers were able to secure the firearm and the male was arrested after attempting to escape.  One of the females involved attempted to intervene and block the Officers from arresting the male.  She was arrested and taken into custody, while the other female involved was able to flee the area.   

As a result of this investigation, a 28 year old male from Brantford is charged with the following Criminal Code offences: Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Careless Use of Firearm, Possession of Firearm - tampered serial number, Careless Storage of Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, and Resist Arrest.

A 24 year old female from Brantford is charged with the following Criminal Code offences: Obstruct Police.
