Type:                  Impaired - Alcohol
Incident:           22-14398
Location:          King George Road

On April 16, 2022, patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service were conducting speed enforcement in the area of King George Road and Varadi Avenue when a vehicle was recorded travelling at 86 km/hr. in a 50km/hr. zone.

A traffic stop was conducted, and officers observed signs of intoxication when speaking with the driver.

The driver submitted to a roadside breathalyzer test demand, which he failed. 

At this point the accused was arrested for Impaired Operation and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.

Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit.

Additionally, the accused was unable to produce a valid insurance card for the vehicle. 

As a result, a 27-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with Operation while Impaired and 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The accused was also charged with Speeding, 86 km/hr and 50 km/hr zone contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Operate motor vehicle without insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle towed.

Location:          Dalhousie Street

On Saturday, April 16, 2022, at approximately 5:40 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend an assault that had occurred within a business located at Dalhousie Street and King Street. 

A man had entered the business however, he had previously been removed from the location and was not welcome to return due to disruptive behaviour. When a staff member approached the accused and asked him to leave, he proceeded to assault the victim, a 40-year-old female. A concerned citizen provided assistance, removing the accused from the business.

At the time of the occurrence, it was determined that the accused was in violation of four valid probation orders. 

Officers attended, located the accused, and as a result of this incident, Ansel Kipp MCNEIL, 32, of Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
Assault 
Breach of Probation- x 4


 

Type:                  Impaired - Alcohol
Incident:           22-14346
Location:          Dundas Street East

On Saturday, April 16, 2022, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Dundas Street East.

Officers attended, located the vehicle, and in speaking with the driver, observed signs of impairment.

The driver submitted to a roadside breathalyzer test demand, which she failed. At this point the accused was arrested for Impaired Operation and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.
Both samples provided were over the legal limit.

As a result of this investigation, a 26-year-old female of Brantford, stands charged with: 
  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration contrary to the Criminal Code 

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended and the vehicle towed.



Type:                  Sexual Assault
Incident:           22-14124

On Thursday, April 14, 2022, officers with the Brantford Police Service received a report that the victim, a 16-year-old female was sexually assaulted and threatened by the accused – a 44-year-old man from Brantford.   

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, the accused is reported to have sexually assaulted the victim within his residence. Additionally, the accused threatened to physically assault the victim’s boyfriend.

After investigation, officers with the Brantford Police Service attended the residence of the accused on Friday, April 15, 2022. The accused answered the door, wielding a hatchet. Officers observed a substance which appeared to be cocaine (approx. 1.2 grams) in clear view.

As a result of this investigation, a 44-year-old man from Brantford was arrested and stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 
  • Sexual Assault
  • Theft Under $5000 
  • Utter Threats to cause Bodily Harm 
  • Possession of Controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act 
Please note: the name of the accused has been withheld from release to protect the identity of the victim.
 
The accused was held for bail.

Incident:           22-13699
Location:          Nelson Street

On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend an assault occurring at a Nelson Street location.

Information was received to indicate that a verbal altercation had occurred between the accused male and three male victims (ages 16, 17 and 47).

The accused is alleged to have approached the first victim (16-year-old male), striking him in the face. Having witnessed the attack, a second male (17-year-old) came to the assistance of the first, pushing the accused off the victim, who then ran for help. The accused then physically assaulted the second male and brandished a screwdriver.
 
A third victim (47-year-old male), came to the assistance of the others, interacting with the accused. 

At this point, the accused verbally threatened the victims and fled area on foot, travelling south on Park Avenue. 

The accused was located and arrested by officers in the area of Colborne Street and Park Avenue at 12:25 a.m. 

Minor physical injuries were sustained by the victims who did not seek medical attention.

Information received indicated that the accused was in violation of a valid release order and a valid probation order.

As a result of the investigation, Jason Anthony LAFORME, 43 of Brantford (No Fixed Address,) stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
  • Assault x 2 
  • Possess weapon for a dangerous purpose 
  • Utter threat to cause death 
  • Breach of Judicial Release 
  • Breach of Probation

Incident:           22-13761
Location:          Victoria Street

On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a dispute at a Victoria Street residence.

It was reported that an argument occurred between the victim, a 57-year-old female, and the accused, a 51-year-old man.
 
During the dispute, the accused left for a brief period of time and then returned, when it is alleged that he removed the door to the unit and became physically aggressive with the victim.
 
The accused then allegedly threatened the victim before leaving with the victim’s cell phone and the door.

As a result, Kirk SKATER, 51, of Harley, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
  • Theft Under x 2
  • Break Enter a Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence 
  • Assault 
  • Intimidation - Use Violence 
An arrest warrant for the accused was issued. The accused was arrested by officers on April 13, 2022.

Location:          Colborne Street

On Saturday April 9, 2022, at approximately 11:50 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of an assault that had occurred at a Colborne Street bar.

It was reported that after two men were refused service and asked to leave the establishment by an employee, they proceeded to physically assault the employee, a 49-year-old male victim.  

The victim sustained minor physical injuries. 

Information was received to advise that at the time of the occurrence one of the accused men was in violation of two valid probation orders. 

As a result of the incident, Carl Andrew Richard HILL, 30 of Hagersville, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
  • Assault 
  • Breach Probation x 2

And Lyle Alexander HILL, 30, of Brantford, currently stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
  • Assault 



Type:                  Impaired, Mischief
Incident:           22-13395
Location:          Veterans’ Memorial Parkway

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend an incident involving two drivers at a location near Blackburn Drive and Veterans Memorial Parkway.

It was reported that the female victim was driving her vehicle along Veterans Memorial Parkway and the accused was operating a second motor vehicle, driving behind her. 

When both vehicles reached a stop near Mount Pleasant Street, the accused is reported to have got out of his vehicle and punched the victim’s front passenger window, causing it to shatter. The accused then returned to his vehicle and proceeded to drive away.

The victim followed the accused in her vehicle and contacted police.
Officers arrived on scene, locating both vehicles stopped at the intersection of Blackburn Drive and Veterans Memorial Parkway. 

Speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of intoxication. A roadside screening device was administered, which he failed.

The accused was then transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples were over twice the legal limit.

As a result, a 43-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
  • Operation While Impaired
  • 80 Plus 
  • Mischief Under $5000
Additionally, the drivers licence of the accused was suspended and the vehicle impounded as required by law.

Location:          Darling Street and Queen Street

On Tuesday April 5, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m., while on routine patrol, officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a female seated on the sidewalk at Darling Street and Queen Street preparing to inject herself with what appeared to be illegal narcotics. 

Officers approached the accused, who became confrontational with officers.

The accused was then placed under arrest and search incident to arrest located a small amount of suspected fentanyl.

As a result, a 33-year-old female of Brantford (No Fixed Address), stands charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Location:          King George Road

On Saturday April 2, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service conducted a traffic stop at 300 King George Road after observing a vehicle speeding excessively on King George Road. 

Officers observed the subject vehicle travelling in an aggressive manner, at an excessive rate of speed, over 100 km/hr, northbound on King George Road. This is a posted 50 km/hour zone. 

In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment and a roadside screening demand was utilized, which the driver failed.

The driver was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over the legal limit.

Additionally, information received indicated the accused was bound by the restrictions of a G2 Ontario drivers’ license and the accused was unable to provide proof of insurance as required by law.

Search incident to arrest located an unopened alcoholic beverage in the cupholder as well as various cannabis products, all within reach of the driver.

As a result, a 21-year-old male from Scotland, stands charged with the following:
  • Over 80mg contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Contravene license condition - driving ability contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act
  • Novice Driver - BAC above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Failed to surrender Insurance Card, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act 
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act

Additionally, the accused was served a 90-day (ADLS) Administrative Drivers License Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded.

Location:         Dalhousie Street

On Friday, April 1, 2022, at approximately 11:20 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to respond to an assault that had occurred at a Dalhousie Street location. 

A verbal dispute turned physical, when a 44-year-old female physically assaulted a 72-year-old male victim.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Christine VANBLYDERVEEN, 44, of Brantford, stands charged with Assault contrary to the Criminal Code.
