Type:                      Break & Enter
Incident:              22-15853
Location:             Grey Street

On Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at approximately 10:15 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service received a call regarding a break and enter in progress at a fenced compound located on Grey Street. 
 
The accused is reported to have illegally entered the compound and proceeded to then enter multiple parked motor vehicles.
 
Officers attended and located the accused inside a vehicle within the compound. 
 
The accused was placed under arrest for the offence of break and enter with intent. At this time, it was determined that the accused had provided a false name and date of birth to the officers.
 
Investigation revealed that the accused was wanted by two neighbouring police services on outstanding arrest warrants.
 
As a result, the accused, Brenden DESHAIES, 23, of Brantford (No Fixed Address), stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 
  • Break, enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence
  • Obstruct a Peace Officer

The accused was held for bail.
 


Type:                      Theft
Incident:              22-15403
Location:             Icomm Drive

On Saturday April 23, 2022, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a parking garage located on Icomm Drive regarding a theft investigation. 

While enroute, police received information that the victim, a 24-year-old male, located and confronted the accused who was found inside the victim’s vehicle in possession of two skateboards. 

Officers arrived on scene, arrested, and charged a 48-year-old man from Brantford, (No Fixed Address), with one count of Theft Under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code. 
 


Type:                      Impaired - Alcohol
Incident:              22-15325
Location:             Forest Street

On Saturday, April 23, 2022, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call to report a motor vehicle collision which had just occurred on Forest Street. 

Investigation revealed that a motor vehicle travelling east-bound on Forest Street, had allegedly lost control, struck a parked vehicle, then mounted the curb before side-swiping a tree and coming to rest in the driveway of a Forest Street residence.
 
Significant damage to both the parked vehicle and the vehicle the accused was driving had occurred. 

Officers arrived on scene and in speaking with the driver, observed signs of impairment.

The accused was subsequently arrested for Operation While Impaired and was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.
Both samples provided were over the legal limit.

As a result, a 25-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
  • Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs 
  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration
 
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle towed. 
 


Type:                      Impaired - Alcohol
Incident:              22-15310
Location:             Dalhousie Street

On Saturday, April 23, 2022, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service who were on general patrol, driving westbound on Dalhousie Street observed a vehicle travelling the wrong way on Dalhousie Street. Dalhousie Street is a one-way road.

Officers initiated a traffic stop and, in speaking with the driver, observed signs of impairment. Additionally, open containers of liquor were located in the vehicle and the permit for the vehicle was found to be expired.
 
After failing the Approved Roadside Screening, the accused was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to provide suitable samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit.

As a result, a 29-year-old man from Tillsonburg, stands charged with the following: 
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol, contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act 
  • Driver Motor Vehicle, No Currently Validated Permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act 
Additionally, the accused’s vehicle was impounded for seven days, and his driver's licence was seized and suspended for ninety days. 
 


Type:                     Impaired - Alcohol
Incident:             22-15137
Location:            West Street

On Friday, April 22, 2022, at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to the area of West Street and Wadsworth Street, for a possible impaired driver.

Police attended the area, located the vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop. 
 
In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment and an open bottle of alcohol within reach of the driver. 

The accused was found to be driving in violation of a licence suspension.

While in the police cruiser, the accused was physically ill. As a safety precaution Emergency Medical Services attended to evaluate the accused.

The accused was subsequently arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples were over twice the legal limit.

As a result, a 22-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following:
  • Operation While Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Drive while under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Additionally, the accused’s vehicle was impounded for seven days, and his driver's licence was suspended for an additional ninety days. 
 


Type:                      Impaired – Dangerous Operation
Incident:              22-15006
Location:             Park Avenue

On Thursday, April 21, 2022, at approximately 7:30 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a single motor vehicle collision, where the vehicle had struck a house located on Park Avenue.

Investigation revealed that the vehicle had failed to stop at a nearby stop sign and struck the home, landing on its side.

The home and vehicle sustained significant damage as a result of the collision. No-one within the home sustained any physical injuries.

Officers arriving on scene observed signs of impairment when speaking with the driver of the vehicle. 

The driver was transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The male passenger of the vehicle did not receive any physical injuries as a result of the incident. 

As a result of the investigation, Charnell FOLLAND, a 33-year-old female from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
  • Operation while Impaired 
  • Dangerous Operation 

Search incident to arrest, found the accused to be in possession of the following:
  • Approximately 4.3 grams of suspected heroin
  • Approximately 3.12 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • Identification which was previously reported as stolen
  • Replica firearms
As a result, the accused also stands charged with the following violations:
  • Possession Schedule 1, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and  
  • Possession of Stolen Goods Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code.


Type:                      Impaired - Alcohol
Incident:              22-14996
Location:             Colborne Street West

On Thursday, April 21, 2022, at approximately 3:45 a.m., patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, swerving into oncoming traffic in the area of Colborne Street West and Welsh Street.

A traffic stop was conducted and in speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.

After failing the Approved Roadside Screening, the accused was arrested for Impaired Operation, Blood Alcohol Concentration and was transported to provide suitable samples of breath as required by law. Both samples were over the legal limit.

Information was received to indicate that the accused was a G2 level driver and in violation of the terms of the licence.

As a result, a 24-year-old man from Brant County stands charged with the following: 
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Novice Drive – Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.
 


Type:                      Assault
Incident:              22-14952
Location:             Icomm Drive

On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to the skate park on Icomm Drive in regard to an assault. 

Initial information was received that a 25-year-old male victim had been stabbed in the neck and the assailant had fled on foot. 

Upon police arrival, the victim was receiving treatment by Emergency Medical Services for a laceration to the back of the head and was transported to hospital for further treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police investigation determined the identity of the accused. Information was received to confirm a knife was used by the accused during the altercation.

Officers located the accused nearby and, as a result of the investigation, Dominic John Anthony LOWE, 25, of Brantford, stands charged for the following Criminal Code offences: 
  • Assault with a Weapon 
  • Uttering threats to cause Death or Bodily Harm

The accused was held for bail.


 

Type:                      Impaired - Alcohol
Incident:              22-14811
Location:             Glenwood Drive

On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at approximately 11:05 p.m., patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a vehicle travelling in an erratic manner on Mary Street.

To determine sobriety of the driver, officers conducted a traffic stop on Glenwood Drive.

In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. 
The accused was arrested for Operation while Impaired and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. 

Both samples provided were over three times the legal limit.

As result, a 45-year-old woman from Brantford stands charged with: 
  • Operation with over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle towed.



Type:                      Utter Threats / Weapon
Incident:              22-14695
Location:             Icomm Drive

On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at approximately 7:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a parking garage on Icomm Drive after a 25-year-old female was threatened with what she believed was a firearm.

The accused is alleged to have had uttered threats after startling the victim as she exited the elevator by pointing a piece of metal in the shape of a firearm at her in a threatening manner.

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries as a result of the incident.

Officers attended and located the accused who was found to be in violation of a valid probation order. 

As a result, David Scott Hill, 29, of Brantford (No Fixed Address) stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
  • Utter Threats  
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose 
  • Breach of Probation Order
