Type:                 Impaired - Alcohol
Incident:          22-31847
Location:         Brunswick Street 

On Sunday, August 7, 2022, at approximately 9:05 p.m., the Brantford Police Service responded to a call for service regarding a possible impaired driver.
 
Information was received to advise that an unresponsive man was in a motor vehicle outside a Brunswick Street residence.

Police arrived on scene and located the vehicle. The vehicle was running, and keys were in the ignition. 

Officers observed a man slouched over in the driver’s seat. The man appeared to be unconscious.

After several attempts, officers were able to wake the man and observed signs of impairment. The man was arrested for impaired operation and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.

Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit.

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
  • Operation while Impaired
  • Operation while Impaired - Plus 80

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.
 


Type:                 Break and Enter
Incident:          22-31739
Location:         Cayuga Street

On Sunday, August 7, 2022, at approximately 2:40 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a break and enter call for service, occurring at a Cayuga Street residence.

It was reported that a witness observed two men attempting to gain entry to a residence by kicking in the rear door. 

Police arrived on scene, located both suspects and, after a brief foot pursuit both accused were subsequently arrested without incident. 

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, both of Brantford, each stand charged with one count of Attempt Break and Enter with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence contrary to the Criminal Code.


 
Type:                 Impaired- Drug
Incident:          22-31527
Location:         Erie Avenue and Salisbury Avenue

On Friday, August 5, 2022, at approximately 4:15 p.m., police were dispatched to the intersection of Erie Avenue and Salisbury Avenue after receiving a report of possible impaired driver.

Officers attended and located the suspect vehicle stopped at the intersection. The vehicle was running and occupied by a man who appeared to be unconscious. Officers observed drug paraphernalia in view. 

After several attempts, officers were able to wake to man and observed signs of impairment.

The accused completed a drug recognition evaluation where it was determined that the accused's ability to operate a conveyance was impaired. 

As a result, a 54-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with: 
  • Operation while Impaired, Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to the Criminal Code

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.
 

Type:                 Break and Enter
Incident:          22-31250
Location:         Nelson Street

On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at approximately 7:15 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a Nelson Street apartment building for a Break and Enter call for service. 

Investigation revealed that the accused had gained entry to the building and was located within the elevator control room of the building.

Additionally, information was received to indicate that the accused was determined to be in violation of a valid probation order.

As a result, a 42-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
  • Break and Entering with Intent
  • Breach of Probation Order

The accused was held for bail. 
 


Type:                 Weapons
Incident:          22-31219
Location:         Market Street

On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at approximately 3:40 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service received a weapons related call for service at a Market Street location.

Information was received to advise that a man was allegedly observed defecating behind a Market Street building before pointing a firearm at an unknown citizen. 

Officers attended and located the suspect and the firearm, which was determined to be a replica, concealed on his person.

As a result, a 23-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
  • Point Firearm
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon
