Location:   Spalding Drive    
Incident:On Monday December 16, 2019 at approximately 10:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call about a single motor vehicle collision on Spalding Drive.  A vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree.   Community Patrol Officers attended to the scene where they located the vehicle.  Officers located the male driver a short distance away.  While dealing with the driver Officers observed signs of impairment.  The driver was given a demand for a roadside screening device.  The driver failed the roadside screening device and was arrested.  The driver was transported in order to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over two times the legal limit.  A 38 year old Brantford male has been charged with 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:    Dalhousie Street at Stanley Street   
Incident:On Sunday December 15, 2019 just after 2:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call about a motor vehicle collision.  A truck had been seen swerving on the roadway, hitting the curb and then caused a three vehicle collision.  The driver of the vehicle then fled the area on foot.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the collision.  The area was searched and the driver was located a short distance away.  While dealing with the male Officers observed signs of impairment and the driver was arrested.  The driver was transported in order to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were two times the legal limit.  Investigation revealed that the accused was a Prohibited driver, that the licence plates on the vehicle were not for that vehicle and that the driver did not have insurance.  As a result of the investigation a 43 year old Ohsweken male has been charged with Operation While Impaired, 80 Plus and Fail to Remain under the Criminal Code.  He has also been charged with Drive While Under Suspension and Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act as well as Owner Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

Location:    Clarence Street    
Incident:On Sunday December 15, 2019 at approximately 1:30 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Clarence Street.  Officers performed a traffic stop and spoke to the male driver.  While dealing with the driver Officers observed signs of impairment and issued a demand for a roadside screening device.  The driver refused to provide a sample and was unable to provide documentation for the vehicle or produce his driver’s licence.  Information was received that the driver was a novice driver.  As a result of the investigation a 28 year old Brantford male has been charged with Refusal under the Criminal Code.  He is further charged with Driver- Failing to surrender licence, Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle and Novice driver refuse to provide breath sample under the Highway Traffic Act.  He is further charged with Fail to surrender insurance card under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.  The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:    Henry Street    
Incident: On Thursday December 12, 2019 just after 9:00 p.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle travelling down Chatham Street with three flat tires and damage to the front end.  Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the male driver who showed signs of impairment.  Investigation revealed that the male driver had just been in a motor vehicle collision on Henry Street where he had left the roadway and struck a sign and fled the scene.  The driver was arrested and transported in order to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  As a result of the investigation a 32 year old Brantford male is charged with Operation While Impaired, 80 Plus and Fail to Remain under the Criminal Code.  The accused licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
