Type:                 Possession / Suspended Driver
Incident:          21-01580
Location:         West Street and Buffalo Street
 
On Thursday, January 14, 2021, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Brantford Police community patrol officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of West Street and Buffalo Street.
 
Investigation revealed that the female driver provided a false identity by presenting a driver’s licence that did not belong to her.
 
Further investigation revealed the accused was operating the motor vehicle as a suspended driver. A search incident to arrest revealed the accused was in possession of a quantity of suspected Percocet pills with an estimated street value of $530 and a quantity of suspected fentanyl with an approximate street value of $40.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old female from Brantford stands charged with:
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance x 2 - Contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act
  • Utter Forged Document- Contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Obstruct Police- Contrary the Criminal Code
  • Driving while under suspension- Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act


Type:                 Residential Property Theft
Incident:          21-01592
Location:         St George Street
 
On Thursday, January 14, 2021 at approximately 11:45 a.m., Brantford Police Service received reports of two male suspects who had allegedly stolen a package from a residential porch on St. George Street.

Officers attended the area where the two male suspects were located in possession of the package and were subsequently arrested. Further investigation determined the suspects were bound by probation orders.

As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old male from Brantford stands charged with:
  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Breach of Probation x 2

A 27-year-old male from Brantford also stands charged with:
  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Breach of Probation  

              

Type:                 Break and Enter, Assault
Incident:          21-01705
Location:         Colborne Street East

On Friday, January 15, 2021, officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of a break and enter at a motel located on Colborne Street East.

It was reported that, on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at approximately 10:41 p.m., the accused female left her motel room and attended the room of the male victim where she entered unlawfully and stole miscellaneous items. 

On Friday, January 15, 2021, a second male victim had confronted the accused regarding the incident, when a verbal argument ensued resulting in the accused female assaulting the victim. At this time a male, who was present, became involved in the altercation, damaging a window and door of the motel room.   

The stolen property was located in possession of the accused male and accused female, and successfully retrieved by police.

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old female from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
  • Break, enter to dwelling house and commit indictable offence 
  • Possession of stolen goods under $5000
  • Assault 

A 21-year-old male from Brantford stands also stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
  • Mischief under $5000 x 2
  • Possession of stolen goods under $5000


Type:                 Break and Enter, Theft
Incident:          21-01729
Location:         Dunsdon Street
 
On Friday, January 15, 2021, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Brantford Police Service responded to a call for service in regards to a suspected break and enter at a residence on Dunsdon Street. 
 
Investigation revealed that the two suspect individuals had forced entry to the residence and had collected items from the residence.  Upon attending the scene, officers observed a male and female removing items from the residence.
 
Further investigation revealed that the male suspect was wanted on an unrelated warrant. The two suspects were arrested and a search incident to arrest revealed that the female suspect was in possession of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.  

As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old male from Brantford was charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:
  • Break, Enter Dwelling House – Commit Indictable Offence 
  • Possession of Stolen Goods Under $5,000 

A 27-year-old female was charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:
  • Break, Enter Dwelling House – Commit Indictable Offence
  • Possession of Stolen Goods Under $5,000; and
  • Possession Schedule I – Methamphetamine under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act


Type:                 Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking
Incident:          21-01803
Location:         Fairview Drive
 
On Saturday, January 16, 2021, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Brantford Police Service responded to a call for service at a hotel located on Fairview Drive for reports of an intoxicated male who was refusing to return to his room.
 
Upon arrival, officers located the accused in the hotel’s hallway where he displayed visible signs of intoxication. The accused was creating a disturbance and was belligerent to staff and other hotel guests.
 
As a result, the accused was arrested for the Liquor Licence Act offence of Being Intoxicated in a Common Area and for the Criminal Code offence of Causing a Disturbance.
 
A search incident to arrest, found the accused in possession of approximately 10.5 grams of suspected cocaine, with and estimated street value of $1050, and approximately 1.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $210. Also located on his person were materials used for the packaging of controlled substances.
 
As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old male from Brantford stands charged with the following:
  • Causing a Disturbance contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance – Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Being Intoxicated in a Common Area contrary to the Liquor Licence Act
 
The accused was held for a bail hearing.


Type:                 Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle
Incident:          21-02263
Location:         East Avenue 
 
On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at approximately 10:27 p.m., Community Patrol Officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Victoria Street.
 
Officers observed the dangerous operation of the motor vehicle as it proceeded through a stop sign at Park Avenue then continued northbound onto Peel Street. Operated by a male driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, the motor vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign on Peel Street and Colborne Street as it turned eastbound onto Colborne Street. Turning southbound onto Murray Street, the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road before turning into the driveway of a residence on East Avenue. The motor vehicle did not have any plates affixed to it.
 
Attending to the vehicle, the driver was unable to provide a valid driver’s licence, ownership, or proof of insurance to officers. Officers observed signs of intoxication and an open container of alcohol within the vehicle. 
 
The suspect was arrested and transported to provide a sample of breath as required by law. Two samples were provided by the accused, both of which were over two times the legal limit. 
Further investigation revealed that the accused is a G1 licence holder and he had failed to transfer the ownership of the vehicle he was operating to his name in a timely manner as required by law. 
 
As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old male from Brantford stands charged with the following: 
  • Operation While Impaired - contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • 80 plus - contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Dangerous Operation - contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Driver Fail to Surrender Licence - contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Fail to Apply for Permit upon Becoming Owner - contrary to the Highway Traffic Act 
  • Drive Motor Vehicle- No Plates - contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Class G1 Licence Holder - Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver- contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance - contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

In addition to the charges, the accused’s vehicle was impounded and license suspended. 


Type:                 Possession of Stolen Property
Incident:          21-02273
Location:         Clarence Street and Dalhousie Street 
 
On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at approximately 1:00 a.m., members of the Brantford Police Service observed a male riding a bicycle northbound on Clarence Street passing Dalhousie Street. The male did not have a red light or reflector mounted to the rear of his bicycle as required by law. 
 
Officers conducted a traffic stop of the bicycle near the intersection of West Street and Galileo Boulevard.
 
Investigation revealed that the bicycle the male was riding had previously been reported stolen to the Brantford Police Service. 
 
The suspect was arrested for possession of stolen property. 
 
A search incident to arrest revealed the accused was in possession of an imitation firearm and various ammunition. 
 
Further investigation revealed the accused was bound by a probation order. 
 
As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old male from Branford stands charged with:
  • Breach of Probation – contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possess Stolen Property Under $5000 – contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Carry Concealed Weapon – contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Careless Use of a Firearm (ammunition) – contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (ammunition) – contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Improper lighting on a bicycle – contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
 
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
