Type:                  Possession / Trafficking
Incident:           21-8570
Location:          Drummond Street

On Friday, March 12, 2021, at approximately 1:34 a.m., patrol officers with Brantford Police Service observed a female walking on Drummond Street and recognized this individual as being wanted on an arrest warrant issued from a partner police service. At this time, the female was placed under arrest.

Search incident to arrest revealed the accused was in possession of the following:
  • Approximately 5.65 grams of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $847
  • Approximately 14.35 grams of suspected Psilocybin with an estimated street value of $143
  • Drug trafficking paraphernalia
  • Canadian Currency

As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old female from Brantford, was re-arrested and stands charged with the following:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act  x3
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule III substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
 

 
Type:                  Impaired Driving - Drug
Incident:           21-8636
Location:          West Street

On Friday, March 12, 2021 at approximately 2:54 p.m., Brantford Police Service received information that a female was observed exiting her vehicle in what appeared to be an intoxicated state in a parking lot on West Street.
 
Officers attended the location and located the vehicle unoccupied. The accused was located by officers within a nearby business. Upon speaking to the accused, officers observed signs of intoxication.     
 
A field sobriety test was conducted, to which she performed poorly and was subsequently arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance.
 
The accused was transported to perform a drug recognition expert evaluation as required by law, where it was determined that the subject's ability to operate a conveyance was impaired by drugs.
 
As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old female from Port Dover stands charged with Operate while Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.


 
Type:                 Impaired Driving - Alcohol
Incident:           21-8717
Location:          Brant Avenue

On Saturday, March 13, 2021, at approximately 1:36 a.m., Brantford Police Service received a call to advise of a possible intoxicated driver.
 
Officers located the suspect driver travelling on Brant Avenue and performed a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of intoxication and administered roadside testing. The accused registered a fail and was arrested without incident for 80 plus.
 
The accused was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were in excess of the legal limit.
 
As a result of the investigation, a 26 year-old male from Brantford stand accused of the following offences:
  • 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Novice Driver B.A.C above 0 contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Incident:           21-8900
Location:          Murray Street

On Sunday, March 14, 2021 at approximately 7:59 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a residence on Murray Street to assist Emergency Medical Responders who were on route to an unknown medical call for service.
 
Information obtained prior to police arrival indicated that an anonymous report was received to advise an unknown male had been observed in an unresponsive state near parked vehicles. 
 
Police arrived on scene and located the accused asleep on the ground near a parked vehicle. The accused awoke when officers spoke to him.
 
Investigation revealed that the accused was currently wanted on a valid outstanding warrant issued by a partner service. As a result, he was subsequently placed under arrest on the strength of the warrant.
 
A search incident to arrest revealed the accused was in possession of approximately 3.1 grams of suspected crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $300.
 
As a result of the investigation, a 29 year-old male from Brantford, was subsequently charged with Possession of Substance - Schedule 1 - contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

Location:          Shellard Lane 

On Sunday, March 14, 2021 at approximately 11:03 p.m., patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a vehicle travelling northbound in the southbound lane of Shellard Lane, against oncoming traffic. 
 
A traffic stop was conducted, the driver was identified, and information was received to indicate the accused was  bound by a valid undertaking with various conditions, including the condition to reside at specific address and to be within the residence at the time of the incident. 
 
The accused was subsequently placed under arrest.  Search incident to arrest found the accused to be in possession of the following:
  • Approximately 11 pills of suspected Hydromorph Contin
  • Approximately 10 pills of Ratio-Oxycocet
  • Approximately 7 pills of Alprazolam
  • Drug trafficking paraphernalia
  • Canadian Currency
 
As a result of the investigation, a 25 year-old female from Ohsweken, stands charged with the following:
  • Failure to comply with undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession for trafficking x 3 contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
 

 
Type:                  Impaired Driving - Alcohol
Incident:           21-9524
Location:          Blackburn Drive at Veteran’s Memorial Parkway

On Thursday, March 18, 2021 at approximately 9:03 p.m., Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of a motor vehicle collision in the area of Blackburn Drive and Veteran’s Memorial Parkway.
 
Information was received to indicate a motor vehicle struck an intersection traffic signal pole and the driver proceeded to flee the scene on foot. An independent witness observed the suspect female fleeing and drove her back to the scene of the collision.
 
Police arrived on scene and in speaking with the suspect, observed signs of intoxication. The accused was transported in order to provide suitable samples of her breath as required by law. Both samples provided were well beyond twice the legal limit. 
 
Investigation also revealed that there was open alcohol readily available to the accused while driving. As a class G2 driver, the accused was legally required to have a zero blood alcohol concentration while operating a motor vehicle.   The accused was also unable to produce valid insurance and permit for her vehicle.
 
As a result of the investigation, a 23 year-old female from Brantford stands charged with:
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol - contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation While Impaired - 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Having Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle with Unsealed Container of Liquor - contrary to the Liquor Licence Act
  • Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle – contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Class G2 Licence Holder - B.A.C. Above Zero - contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Fail to Surrender Insurance Card - contrary to the Canadian Automobile Insurance Act

 


 
Type:                  Impaired Driving -Alcohol
Incident:           21-9699
Location:          Fen Ridge Court

On Saturday, March 20, 2021 at approximately 5:19 a.m., officers with Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of a motor vehicle collision in the area of Fen Ridge Court involving a driver who fled the vehicle on foot.
 
Witness(s) on scene observed a vehicle drive through the fence at a business located on Fen Ridge Court. The witness(s) observed the vehicle to be stuck in the fence, and the lone male occupant, exiting the vehicle and fleeing into the parking lot on foot.
 
Brantford Police arrived on scene and located the accused nearby, attempting to hide from police.
 
Investigation confirmed the accused to be the driver of the vehicle. Speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of intoxication.
 
The accused was arrested for Operation while Impaired and transported in order to provide suitable samples of his breath as required by law. The accused refused to complete the breathalyzer test.
 
As a result of Police investigation, a 30-year-old male from Brantford stands charged with the following:
  • Operation While Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand contrary to the Criminal Code

Location:          Brunswick Street

On Saturday, March 20, 2021 at approximately 7:15 p.m., officers with Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend reports of an assault which occurred at a residence on Brunswick Street.
 
A confrontation occurred between two men regarding alleged driving behaviours, resulting in the accused physically assaulting a 27 year-old male victim who received minor injuries. 
 
As a result of the investigation, 49 year-old, Andrew STEVENSON from Brantford stands charged with Assault contrary to the Criminal Code.

Incident:           21-9789
Location:          Colborne Street

On Sunday, March 21, 2021 at approximately 7:49 pm, Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call to report a male with a firearm was observed within the parking garage on Icomm Drive.
Officers attended, located, and subsequently arrested the accused without incident. 
 
On Saturday, March 20, 2021, at approximately 5:46 p.m., the accused was confirmed to have entered a retail store located on Colborne Street, where he proceeded to hide within the store until employees closed the store and left. The accused then stole a number of replica firearm BB guns and BB gun accessories, breaking out of the store, fleeing on foot.
 
During a search of the accused incident to arrest, one of the stolen guns was confirmed to be on his person, in addition to approximately 1.2 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine.
 
As a result of the investigation, Eric Wayne RUSSELL, 29, of Brantford, stands charged with:
  • Theft Over $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Breaking Out contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession of Substance in Schedule I contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The accused has been held for remand court.



 

Type:                  Impaired Driving - Alcohol
Incident:          21-9816
Location:          Market Street South
 
On Sunday, March 21, 2021 at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a location on Market Street South with regard to reports of an alleged impaired driver.
 
Information obtained prior to police arrival indicated a vehicle was observed attempting to drive the wrong way in a drive-thru of a local business. On-site security had stopped the vehicle, removing the keys from the driver while contacting police.
 
Police arrived on scene, observed signs of intoxication, and conducted an investigation concerning the driver's sobriety. At approximately 12:34 a.m., the accused was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance.
 
The accused was subsequently transported to provide samples of his breath as required by law. Both samples provided were in excess of three times the legal limit.
 
As a result of the investigation, a 25 year-old male from Aylmer, stands charged with:
  • Impaired Operation of a Conveyance contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Over 80mg contrary to the Criminal Code

 


 
Type:                   Impaired Driving - Alcohol
Incident:           21-9825
Location:          Fairview Drive / King George Road / 403
 
On Sunday, March 21, 2021, at approximately 2:25 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police were dispatched to the area of Fairview Drive and King George Road in regards to reports of an alleged impaired driver.
 
Information had been received to advise the suspect vehicle was driving erratically on Highway 403 and had exited the Highway at Fairview Drive. Additional information indicated the vehicle had made several erratic U-turns, ran a stop sign, and had driven over curbs. The vehicle entered back onto the 403 eastbound from King George Road.
 
Officers with the Brantford Police Service located the vehicle travelling eastbound on the 403 as it passed Wayne Gretzky Parkway. Police observed the vehicle being operated in a dangerous manner with inconsistent speeds.
 
Officers performed a traffic stop and, when speaking with the driver, observed signs of intoxication.
 
As a result, the accused was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were in excess of the legal limit.

As a result of the investigation, a 33 year-old male from Hamilton stands charged with:
  • Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • 80 plus Blood Alcohol, contrary to the Criminal Code
 


Type:                  Multiple Charges
Incident:           21-9997
Location:          Hill Avenue

On Monday, March 22, 2021 at approximately 9:29 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched in regards to a report received of a male suspect who was observed stealing items from a trailer at a construction site in the area of Hill Avenue.
 
The male suspect was observed leaving the area in a vehicle driver by a female driver.
 
Officers attended the area and observed the suspect motor vehicle, with the driver and passenger matching descriptions provided.
 
A traffic stop occurred, three occupants were located in the motor vehicle and taken into custody.
 
A search incident to arrest found the suspects to be in possession of stolen items from the trailer as well as drug paraphernalia, two sets of brass knuckles and quantities of various narcotics including suspected Xanax, Oxycocet and Crystal Methamphetamine.
 
At the time of the investigation, both male suspects were found to be in violation of prior court orders.
 
As a result of the investigation the accused parties are charged with the following:
 
Jamie Angel Mackenzie, 41-year-old female of Brantford, stands charged with:
  • Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Substance included in Schedule I and IV contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

 

Matthew Scott Wells, 39 year-old male of Brantford, stands charged with:

  • Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Substance included in Schedule I and IV contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

 

John Dennis Moth, 39 year-old-male of Brantford, stands charged with:

  • Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Weapon x2 contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession in Contradiction of Prohibition Order contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Substance included in Schedule I and IV contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
