Incident:      22-44418
Location:     Blackburn Drive

On Thursday, October 27, 2022, at approximately 10:00 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a possible impaired driver in the area of Blackburn Drive and the Veteran’s Memorial Parkway.

Officers observed a man who appeared to be asleep occupying the driver’s seat of the vehicle which was stopped in a live lane of traffic.
After several attempts, officers were able to wake the accused and observed signs of impairment.

The accused was placed under arrest and transported to provide samples of his breath as required by law. The accused refused to provide samples.

Further investigation revealed the accused was determined to be suspended from driving. 

As a result, the accused, a 32-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following: 
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Driving while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.

Location:     Icomm Drive

On Thursday, October 27, 2022, at approximately 4:00 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to the Brant Crossing Skate Park, located on Icomm Drive, after receiving a report of an armed man.

Officers attended and located the accused, who was arrested without incident.

Investigation determined that the accused had fired a pellet gun at the location while several children were using the skate park. No injuries were reported.

Search incident to arrest located the pellet gun, which was seized by police.

As a result, a 28-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with: 
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code

Incident:      22-44335
Location:     Erie Avenue

On Thursday, October 27, 2022, at approximately 9:50 A.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a call related to a suspicious person and theft in the area of Erie Avenue and Allenby Avenue.

Police received information from a citizen that his motor vehicle had been broken into and his wallet stolen. Attached to the victim's wallet was an AirTag tracking device which enabled the victim to provide a current location of his belongings to police. 

Officers attended a location on Ontario Street, where they identified and located the accused. 

After being advised he was under arrest, the accused fled on foot. A short foot pursuit occurred. When officers caught the accused, he then resisted arrest. 

Search incident to arrest located the victim’s wallet in the accused’s possession. The accused was also found in possession of break-in instruments. 

As a result, a 30-year-old man from Waterford stands charged with the following:
  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Possession of Stolen Goods Under $5,000
  • Mischief
  • Resist Arrest
  • Escape Lawful Custody
The accused was held for bail.

Incident:      22-44221
Location:     Park Road North 

On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at approximately 11:45 A.M., police were dispatched to attend the area of Dunsdon Street and Park Road North after receiving a report of a possible impaired driver. 

An alert citizen called 911 to report that they observed a vehicle driving erratically.

Officers attended and located the vehicle travelling eastbound on Dunsdon Street near Wayne Gretzky Parkway. A traffic stop was initiated.

Speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment and the accused was arrested and transported to complete a drug recognition evaluation.

The evaluation found the accused to be impaired by drugs.
  
As a result, a 23-year-old female from Brantford stands charged with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance contrary to the Criminal Code.

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.
