Type:                Assault / Threats
Incident:         21-38128
Location:       Terrace Hill Street
 
On Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at approximately 7:30 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to a Terrace Hill Street residence regarding a report of an unwanted person.   
 
The resident located an unknown man sleeping on the front porch. The man became agitated and verbally aggressive when he was awoken by the resident. The accused allegedly charged and kicked at the door as the resident was moving indoors to call police. The resident sustained minor injuries as a result.   
 
Officers were called, arrived on scene and located the suspect nearby. When officers were speaking with the accused, he was observed by police verbally threatening the victim. 
 
As a result, the accused, Jonathan Lloyd WILLSON, 68 of Brantford (No Fixed Address), stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 

• Assault 
• Uttering Threats 

The accused was held for bail.
 


Type:               Impaired - Alcohol
Incident:        21-38439
Location:       Market Street
 
On Friday, October 1, 2021 at approximately 12:10 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to a report regarding a possible intoxicated driver.
 
An anonymous caller reported a male had been driving a vehicle and arrived at a bar located on Market Street. The male was reported to have been denied entry due to intoxication. 
 
Officers arrived on scene and located the accused man nearby. In speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of intoxication.
 
As a result, the accused was placed under arrest for Operation while Impaired. 
 
The accused was transported to provide suitable samples of his breath as required by law. Both samples provided were in excess of twice the legal limit. Additionally, the accused was unable to provide valid proof of insurance as required under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. 
 
As a result, a 34-year-old from Brantford stands charged with: 

• Operation while Impaired - Contrary to the Criminal Code
• 80 Plus - Contrary to the Criminal Code, and 
• Failure to surrender insurance card - Contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act 

The vehicle was impounded and the accused’s licence was suspended as per law.

Incident:       21-38454
Location:       Kimberly Court
 
On Friday, October 1, 2021, at approximately 1:55 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to a report of a theft occurring from a parked vehicle on Kimberly Court.
 
Two men are alleged to have unlawfully entered the victim’s vehicle. Personal items and a small quantity of currency was reported stolen.
 
Officers arrived and located two men in the area carrying property matching the description of stolen items provided by the victim.
 
In speaking with the accused, one man was found to have provided a false identity to police.
 
When the stolen property was recovered, officers located several other items which had previously been reported stolen to police. 
 
As a result of the investigation, Mikeal Kenneth BRIGHT, 35 of Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 

• Theft Under $5000 from a Motor Vehicle 
• Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 
• Obstruct Police 

And, Steven John KING, 36, of Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 

• Theft Under $5000 from a Motor Vehicle
• Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000

Incident:        21-38460
Location:       Beaver Crescent

On Friday, October 1, 2021 at approximately 4:15 a.m., Brantford Police Service received a call for service regarding a break and entry of a garden shed in progress at a residence on Beaver Crescent. 
 
Officers arrived on scene and located a man inside the garden shed. The man was subsequently arrested. 
 
Police observed damage to the shed door. Although items were in disarray, no items appeared to be missing.
 
As a result, Michael BADANJAK, 32, of Paris, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 

• Trespass/ Prowl near dwelling house  
• Break, Enter a Place - commit indictable offence

Incident:        21-38687
Location:       Dalhousie Street
 

On Saturday, October 2, 2021, at approximately 3:00 p.m. officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to a theft that had occurred at a restaurant located on Dalhousie Street.
 
A report was received to advise a man placed an order for pick-up over the telephone. Once the man arrived, no attempt was made to pay and the man fled the restaurant with the food.
Officers attended the scene and located the male nearby in possession of the food. The accused was taken into custody without incident. 
 
Information was received to indicate the accused was in violation of a valid probation order.
 
As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old male, of Brantford (No Fixed Address), stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

• Theft under $5000
• Possess Stolen Property under $5000
• Breach Probation Order 

 


Type:              Robbery
Incident:        21-38790
Location:       Sixth Avenue
 
On Sunday, October 3, 2021, at approximately 10:15 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to a call of a taxi driver who had been robbed at knifepoint in the area of Sixth Avenue and Division Street.
 
It was reported that a man was picked up by the accused from a location on Terrace Hill Street and, during transport, threatened the driver with a blade, demanding money. Receiving a small amount of currency, the accused fled the vehicle on foot in the area of Division Street and Tenth Avenue. 
 
Officers attended, and through investigation, located and arrested the male nearby at approximately 11:15 a.m.  
 
As a result of the investigation, Charles Joseph LAFORME, 34 of Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 

• Assault with a weapon
• Robbery with a weapon 

The accused was held for bail.
 


Type:               Assault / Break & Enter
Incident:       21-38795
Location:       Colborne Street

On Sunday, October 3, 2021, at approximately 11:45 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police were dispatched to attend a residence on Colborne Street in regards to an assault. 
 
A report was received to advise that a male had allegedly been in the process of removing cable wire from a home when confronted by a resident. The accused then assaulted the resident, who sustained minor injuries.
 
At this time, the accused broke into another unit of the residence to obtain additional cable wire.
 
Officers attended the scene, located and arrested the accused.
 
Information was received to indicate that the accused is currently bound by two valid probation orders.

As a result, Jeremy Jonathan PORTH, 35, of Brantford (No Fixed Address), stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
• Assault 
• Mischief Under $5,000 
• Break, enter a place with intent to commit indictable offence 
• Breach Probation x 2 

The accused was held for bail. 
 


Type:                 Drugs
Incident:         21-38847
Location:       Nelson Street

On Sunday, October 3, 2021, at approximately 10:40 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service members were dispatched to attend a disturbance at a property located at Market Street and Nelson Street.
 
An anonymous caller advised there were a group of people present who were on the porch building a fire. 
 
Police arrived on scene where they located a group of people. There was no fire present but police located a man in medical distress. Officers administered Narcan and Emergency Medical Services were contacted to provide further assistance.
 
At this point, the man became responsive and provided an identity to police. Investigation revealed this identity to be false. The accused refused to provide police with a correct identity.
 
The accused was observed by officers attempting to throw items from his pockets. The items were picked up by police and were found to contain a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.
 
Ambulance arrived on scene and began caring for the man, transporting him to hospital. 
 
Further investigation determined the accused’s correct identity and confirmed that he was in violation of an outstanding warrant.
 
As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old male of Brantford (No Fixed Address), stands charged with the following: 

• Possession Schedule 1 - Methamphetamine - contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
• Obstruct Peace Officer - contrary to the Criminal Code 
• Fail to Comply - Fail to Appear - contrary to the Criminal Code

Incident:        21-38836 / 21-38892
Location:       Market Street South
 
On Monday, October 4, 2021, Brantford Police were dispatched to attend a restaurant located Market Street South in regards to a report of theft.
 
A report was received to indicate that a man allegedly entered the restaurant, stole food, and then fled without making any attempt to purchase. 
 
As officers were conducting the investigation, information was received that a male matching the same description had allegedly just attended a second restaurant, also located at Market Street South, selected a food order and left, again making no attempt to purchase. 
 
Officers located the male nearby. Information was received to indicate the male was in violation of a valid probation order. 
 
As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old male of Brantford (No Fixed Address), stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
• Theft under $5000
• Breach of Probation x 2 
• Food and Lodging Fraud

The accused was to be held for bail.

Incident:         21-38950
Location:       Erie Avenue

On Monday, October 4, 2021, at approximately 5:45 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of robbery and assault which occurred at a convenience store located on Erie Avenue.
 
A report was received to advise that a male entered the store, allegedly stole cigarettes before fleeing the store without providing payment. When confronted by a store employee, the accused struck the store employee before fleeing the scene on foot.
 
Officers attended and located the suspect nearby with the assistance of K-9 tracking. 
 
Information was received to indicate that the accused is in violation of a valid probation order.  

Search incident to arrest revealed the accused was in possession of a large knife, concealed on his person.
 
As a result of the investigation, Christian Ryan SEALE, 29, of Toronto (No Fixed Address), stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
• Robbery
• Obstruct Police
• Fail to Comply Probation Order
• Fail to Comply Release Order

The accused is to be held for bail.


 

Type:                  Theft
Incident:          21-39086
Location:       Fairview Drive

On Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers with the Branford Police Service attended a retail store on Fairview Drive in regards to a report of an attempted theft. 
 
A male was allegedly reported to have entered the store where he selected a bicycle and then attempted to leave without providing payment. A store employee successfully stopped the theft. The accused male fled the area on foot.
 
Officers attended and located the suspect. Information was received indicating the accused is in violation of a valid probation order.
 
As a result, a 37-year-old male of Brantford (No Fixed Address), stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:  
• Attempt Theft Under $5000.00 
• Breach of Probation 

The accused was to be held for bail.
