Location:         Dunsdon Street

On Thursday, September 1, 2022, at approximately 4:45 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend an assault related call at a Dunsdon Street location.

It was reported that the accused, a 34-year-old man, attended the victim’s residence, allegedly striking him with a hatchet.

The victim, a 35-year-old man, sustained minor injuries.

Investigation received revealed that the accused was in violation of a valid release order and valid probation order.

As a result, a 34-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following: 
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Failure to Comply with Judicial Release Order 
  • Breach of Probation Order

Incident:          22-35187
Location:         Henry Street 

On Monday, August 29, 2022, at approximately 2:30 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police were dispatched to attend a suspicious vehicle related call in the area of Henry Street and Bosworth Court.

A concerned citizen called to report that a male driver was slumped over the wheel of the vehicle and appeared intoxicated. 

Officers attended and located the vehicle with the accused seated in the driver’s seat. The vehicle was running and occupying two lanes of traffic.

In speaking with the accused, officer’s observed signs of impairment. 
A Drug Recognition Evaluation was conducted and indicated that the accused’s ability to operate a vehicle was impaired.

Information was received to indicate that the accused was currently a suspended driver.

As a result, a 52-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following:
  • Operation while Impaired, contrary to Criminal Code 
  • Drive while under suspension, contrary to Highway Traffic Act

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.

Location:         Pearl Street and Sydenham Street

On Monday, August 29, 2022, at approximately 12:00 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend an assault related call for service at a location near Pearl Street and Sydenham Street.

It was reported that a brief verbal altercation occurred between two men which escalated, resulting in one man allegedly striking the other with his motor vehicle. 

The accused then fled the scene, leaving the victim, a 29-year-old man, with minor injuries. 

Further investigation revealed that the accused was operating his vehicle with a suspended licence.

Officers attended and located the accused nearby who was arrested without incident.

As a result, a 58-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following: 
  • Dangerous Operation, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Assault with a weapon, contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Driving while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act 

The accused was held for bail.
