Type:           Trespass / Mischief                        
Incident:      21-32226
Location:     Acorn Lane

On Saturday, August 21, 2021 at approximately 2:03 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of a theft and disturbance at a residence located on Acorn Lane.

A citizen called 9-1-1 to report that a male suspect had allegedly broken into his vehicle. A neighbour witnessed the accused unlawfully enter the vehicle and then observed the accused male defecate on the victim’s lawn. The accused was being detained by the victim’s neighbour when the incident was reported.

Officers arrived at the scene and the accused male was placed under arrest. 
     
Investigation revealed that the accused was in violation of a valid probation order and in breach of a valid release order. 

As a result, a 46-year-old male of Brantford, stands charged for the following Criminal Code violations: 
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Breach of release order 
  • Trespass at night (prowl) 
  • Mischief to property 
  • Breach of probation 

 
The accused was held for bail.
 


Type:           Impaired - Drug                
Incident:      21-32265
Location:    Colborne Street and Locks Road

On Saturday, August 21, 2021 at approximately 12:28 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend the area of Colborne Street and Locks Road for a report of a motor collision and possible impaired driver. 
 
A male driver was observed to have rear-ended another motor vehicle which was stopped at a red light on Locks Road at Colborne Street. The accused was reported to have then driven his motor vehicle into a nearby parking lot when he became unconscious at the wheel while the motor vehicle was running.
 
Officers attended and located the accused unconscious behind the wheel. After several attempts, officers were able to help the accused regain consciousness. Drug paraphernalia and signs of intoxication were observed by officers. 
 
At this time, the accused was placed under arrest for Operation While Impaired. A Drug Recognition Evaluation was conducted.
 
As a result of the investigation, a 53-year-old male from Lynden, stands charged with the following: 
  • Operation while Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs contrary to the Criminal Code
Additionally, a licence suspension was issued and the vehicle impounded as per law.
 


Type:            Indecent Act                      
Incident:       21-32297
Location:     Alexandra Park 

On Saturday, August 21, 2021 at approximately 5:06 p.m., officers received a call from a concerned citizen to advise she had observed a male and female engaged in an indecent act in the area of Alexandra Park, Dalhousie Street.

Officers attended the area and located a male and female matching the witness description at a nearby convenience store.

As officers approached the suspects, the male fled on a bicycle. The female attempted to flee on foot but was stopped by officers and placed under arrest for Indecent Act. The accused female then attempted to resist arrest.       

Investigation revealed that the accused female was in violation of three valid probation orders.

As a result, a 38-year-old female of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
  • Indecent Act 
  • Fail to Comply Probation X3
  • Obstruct Peace Officer 
 


Type:            Assault                
Incident:      21-32335
Location:     Colborne St / Kiwanis Way
 
On Saturday, August 21, 2021, at approximately 11:09 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of an assault, which had occurred at a business located at Colborne Street and Kiwanis Way.

A male customer allegedly assaulted a 28-year-old female employee, where for unknown and unprovoked reasons; the accused male threw a slice of pizza at the employee. The accused created a disturbance, yelling and swearing at patrons and employees, refusing to leave when instructed to do so.  

Officers attended the scene, and placed the accused under arrest for assault and cause disturbance.

The accused resisted arrest, attempting to assault officers and uttered threats. 

The victim and officers did not require medical attention. 

Information received indicated that the accused was in violation of a valid probation order.

As a result, a 37-year-old male from Brantford stands charged and is being held for a bail hearing on the following Criminal Code offences: 
  • Assault 
  • Assault Peace Officer x4 
  • Resist Arrest
  • Cause Disturbance
  • Uttering Threats
  • Breach of Probation 


 
Type:           Suspicious Vehicle                         
Incident:      21-32418
Location:     Lynden Road
 
On Sunday, August 22, 2021, at approximately 6:02 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a business located on Lynden Road for a suspicious vehicle complaint. The caller reported a male and female who appeared to be slumped over in a motor vehicle. 
 
Officers arrived at the scene and observed a male sleeping in the front passenger seat and a female sleeping in the front driver seat of a motor vehicle.
 
Investigation revealed that the female suspect was bound by, and in violation of, an undertaking. 
 
A search of the motor vehicle incident to arrest revealed break and enter instruments and approximately 1.22 grams of suspected Fentanyl.  
 
As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old female from West Grey, has been charged with: 
  • Failure to comply with undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Possession of Break-In Instruments contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act 
 
The second accused, a 30-year-old male from Orangeville, was arrested and transported to a neighbouring service as a result of an unrelated warrant.


 

Type:           Robbery               
Incident:      21-32987
Location:     Fairview Drive at West Street
 
On Thursday, August 26, 2021, officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a robbery, which was reported to have occurred at a convenience store located at Fairview Drive and West Street.
 
Officers were advised that a male allegedly entered the store, brandished a replica firearm and demanded the store employee surrender cash from the register.
 
The accused male fled the store with a small amount of currency and a large quantity of instant lottery tickets.
 
Officers attended the scene, identified and located the accused, who was travelling by taxi. 
 
Search incident to arrest located the lottery tickets and approximately 0.27 grams of suspected crack cocaine.
 
As a result of police investigation, Wesley VANDEWATER, 34, of Brantford, stands charged with the following:
  • Robbery Using a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act


 

Type:           Impaired - Alcohol
Incident:      21-33286
Location:     West Street and Morton Avenue
 
On Saturday, August 28, 2021, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of a possible medical emergency involving the driver of a motor vehicle in the area of West Street and Morton Avenue. 
 
Officers attended the scene and located the vehicle in the intersection of West Street and Morton Avenue. A male was located unresponsive in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.   
 
The male was awoken by officers who observed signs of intoxication. 
 
The accused was arrested for Impaired Operation, and transported in order to provide suitable samples of his breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit. 
 
As a result, a 32-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 
  • Impaired Operation - Alcohol 
  • 80 Plus 
 
Additionally, a license suspension was issued and the vehicle impounded as required by law.
 


Type:           Impaired - Alcohol                          
Incident:      21-33407
Location:     Market Street
 
On Saturday, August 28, 2021, at approximately 9:36 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a call regarding a possible impaired driver who allegedly collided with a Laurier University Special Constable cruiser, which was parked on Market Street.
 
Officers attended and, in speaking with the driver, observed signs of intoxication. A roadside screening demand was administered resulting in a fail. 
 
The accused male was arrested for Impaired Operation. Search incident to arrest located alcoholic beverages in the vehicle, within reach of the driver. 
 
The accused was transported to provide samples of his breath as required by law. Both samples provided were in excess of the legal limit.
 
As a result, a 42-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
  • Impaired Operation
  • Over 80 
 
Additionally, a licence suspension was issued and the vehicle impounded as per law.
 

 
Type:           Impaired - Drug                
Incident:      21-33657
Location:     Paris Road
 
On Monday, August 30, 2021, at approximately 3:26 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a call regarding a motor vehicle observed by several callers to have been travelling erratically on Highway 403 westbound and may have been involved in a hit and run.  
 
Further information was received that the vehicle had exited the highway at King George Rd and failed to stop at the red light. Police then received information that the vehicle was involved in a single motor vehicle collision on Paris Road, between Terrace Hill Street and Ava Road.
 
Officers attended the scene and located the suspect vehicle and driver. Information was received to advise the accused was bound by the terms of a G1 drivers licence. 
 
In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of intoxication. The accused was then placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and transported in order to conduct a Drug Recognition Evaluation. 
 
As a result, a 37-year-old male from Paris, stands charged with the following: 
  • Operation While Impaired (drug) contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Dangerous Operation contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Further Class G1 licence holder - unaccompanied by a qualified drive contrary to the Highway Traffic Act 
  • Contravene licence condition - driving ability contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
 
Additionally, a licence suspension was issued and the vehicle impounded as per law.
 


Type:          Mischief 
Incident:     21-33704
Location:    Market Street and Sheridan Street
 
On Monday, August 30, 2021, at approximately 9:29 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched in regards to a report of a male damaging a vehicle in the area of Sheridan Street and Market Street.
 
Officers attended and, based on the description provided, located the male who then fled on foot through several back yards.
Additional information was received to advise that a male matching the suspect description was jumping on cars in a driveway on Market Street.
 
Officers attended, located the suspect, and confirmed his identity.  
 
Further investigation revealed that the accused was in violation of a valid probation order. 
 
As a result, a 23-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
  • Mischief Under $5000  x3 
  • Breach of Probation  


Type:         Impaired - Drug                
Incident:      21-33913
Location:     Superior Street
 
On Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at approximately 4:54 a.m., Community Patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a motor vehicle travelling at inconsistent speeds westbound on Erie Avenue. The motor vehicle proceeded to turn northbound onto Cayuga Street where officers observed it fail to stop at a sign at the intersection of Cayuga Street and Superior Street. 
 
Due to the driving behaviour observed, a traffic stop was conducted to ensure the sobriety of the driver. 
 
In speaking with the driver, information was received to advise the driver was unlicensed. In clear view, officers observed a bag containing approximately 22 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $2,200. 
 
As a result, the accused was arrested. Search incident to arrest revealed various drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.
 
A Drug Recognition Evaluation was conducted and officers formed reasonable and probable grounds to charge the accused with Operation while Impaired (drug). 

As a result, a 43-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with: 
  • Operation While Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
 
Additionally, a licence suspension was issued and the vehicle impounded as per law.
