The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit in partnership with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office and Brantford Fire Prevention have concluded their investigation and determined the cause of the January 16, 2021 fire at a residence on White Owl Crescent to be accidental.

The sole occupant of the residence at the time of the fire, a 58-year-old female has died as a result of smoke inhalation. Out of respect for the family, the victim’s identity will not be released by Brantford Police Service. 
 
Original Release - January 16, 2021

On Saturday, January 16, 2021 at approximately 11:15 a.m., Brantford Police Service responded to an Assist Fire call at a residence on White Owl Crescent.
 
Brantford Fire Department located and extricated a female patient, who succumbed to her injuries a short time later.
 
The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit is continuing to investigate the matter in partnership with the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office and Brantford Fire Prevention. The scene is being held for further investigation.
