Second Male Arrested in Nebiyu Myers Homicide

Brantford Police have arrested and charged a second male in connection with the homicide of 19-year-old Nebiyu Myers.

Cleveland VANEVERY, 19, of Ohsweken, has been charged with 1st Degree Murder, firearms offences, drug possession, as well as breach of a court order.

On Saturday, April 17, 2021, Nebiyu Myers was located inside a residence in the area of Alfred Street and Wellington Street just after 1:00 p.m. suffering from gunshot wounds.  Myers was pronounced deceased at the scene.  

Police do not believe this to be a random incident.

Now that charges are before the courts, investigators will not discuss evidence as it pertains to the case.

Brantford Police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old male from Brantford in connection with the homicide of 19-year-old Nebiyu Myers.

Elijah MARFOH, 18-years-old, of Brantford has been charged with 1st degree murder, firearms offences and breaching a court order.
 
On Saturday, April 17, 2021 Nebiyu Myers was located inside a residence in the area of Alfred Street and Wellington Street just after 1:00 p.m. suffering from gunshot wounds. Myers was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Police do not believe this to be a random incident.

Members with the Brantford Police Major Crime Unit continue to investigate the shooting death of a Brantford man that occurred Saturday, April 17, 2021.
 
Police have identified the victim as 19-year-old Brantford resident, Nebiyu Myers.
 
Myers was located inside a residence in the area of Alfred Street and Wellington Street just after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon suffering from gunshot wounds.  Myers was pronounced deceased at the scene. 
 
Police do not believe this to be a random incident.
 
Officers remain in the area, processing the crime scene and canvassing the neighbourhood.  Police are requesting any members living or working in the area to check any surveillance video between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021. 
 
Police are looking for a suspect male matching the following description:
  • 20-25 year old, dark skinned male
  • between 5’10” and 6’2”
  • between 160 and 180 pounds
  • wearing dark clothing and a black face mask
