Two People Charged After Warrant Executed on Residence in West Brantford

Two males are facing charges after an investigation by the Toronto Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit. 

The TPS Guns and Gangs Unit had entered into a Firearms investigation which resulted in the execution of search warrants in Toronto and Brantford.   On Friday October 11, 2019 the Brantford Police Service ERT, K9, Task Force and Street Crime Units assisted the Toronto Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit by executing a search warrant at an address in West Brantford. As a safety precaution during the execution of the warrant a nearby school was temporarily placed on hold and secure. The search warrant was successfully executed without incident.

During the execution of the warrant, police located cocaine (street value $3600), fentanyl (street value $8200), heroin (street value $7500) and methamphetamine (street value $5200).  The approximate value of the drugs located is $24,500.  Police also located over 2000 rounds of ammunition (various calibers) and 4 prohibited devices (extended ammunition magazines). 

As a result of the investigation, Toronto Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit have charged two males with a number of Criminal Code and Controlled Drug and Substances Act charges. 

A 32 year old Toronto male is charged with:
1. Possession for the Purpose Trafficking x 6 CDSA
2. Possession of Proceeds of Crime CCC
3. Possession of Prohibited Device x 4 CCC
4. Possession of Ammunition when Prohibited x 2 CCC

A 23 year old Brantford male is charged with:
1. Possession for the Purpose Trafficking x 4 CDSA
2. Possession of Prohibited Device x 4 CCC
3. Fail to Comply Recognizance CCC

Brantford Police assist Toronto Police Guns and Gangs Unit With Search Warrant

On Friday October 11, 2019 the Brantford Police Service assisted the Toronto Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit with the execution of a search warrant at an address in West Brantford.  As a safety precaution during the execution of the warrant a nearby school was temporarily placed on hold and secure.  The search warrant was successfully executed without incident.  As a result of the investigation one male is in custody. 

Brantford Police Service in conjunction with the Toronto Police Service is continuing this investigation and there will continue to be a police presence in the area.

Police investigate Shooting in Downtown

Brantford Police Service is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred last night on Colborne Street that sent one male to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

On Friday October 11, 2019 at approximately 2:15 a.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a call about a shooting on Colborne Street near Bain Street.  Two males had gotten into an argument which turned into a physical confrontation.  During the altercation a third male became involved and shot the victim.  The two suspects fled the area in a vehicle.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located a 25 year old male victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was treated by Emergency Medical Services and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  

Officers located and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle.  The vehicle failed to stop for police and continued out of town on Highway 403.  Officers engaged in a pursuit of the vehicle when the suspects intentionally made contact with marked police vehicles.  Due to the risk to public safety the pursuit was discontinued. 

Brantford Police are looking for a Grey/Silver 4 Door Mercedes that was last seen travelling at a high rate speed East Bound on Highway 403.

The two suspects in this investigation should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Call 911 immediately if observed.

Police investigate Sexual Assault at Dunsdon St. and Buchanan Cres.

 On Sunday October 6, 2019 at approximately 1:30 a.m. a female in her 30’s was walking north bound on Dunsdon Street towards Buchanan Crescent where she encountered an unknown man standing in front of her.  The male pushed the female victim to the ground and subsequently sexually assaulted her. The male then fled the area. 

The suspect is described as being a white male, in his 30’s, with stubble on his face, wearing a dark blue or black sweater with a baseball hat with the brim pulled down to conceal the top half of his face. 

The Brantford Police want to make the public aware of this incident and the location it occurred.  Police are continuing to investigate this incident and are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Jason Sinning of the Brantford Police Major Crime Unit at 519-756-0113 extension 2265 or Crime Stoppers at 519-750-8477.

Operation Impact 2019:Your actions have impact

Brantford, ON, October 10, 2019–Operation Impact 2019 is a public education campaign taking place from October 11th to 14th, 2019. The goal is to make Canada’s roads the safest in the world by promoting safe driving behaviours.

The Brantford Police Service makes educating the public in safe driving practices a road safety priority.  An essential part of our job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways.  This year we will focus on behaviours that put drivers, passengers and all road users at risk of fatal or serious injury collisions.  Our enforcement initiative will focus on impaired driving, seat belt use and all aspects related to aggressive driving including speeding and distracted driving. 

This is one way the Brantford Police Service is helping to increase public compliance with safe driving measures in order to prevent collisions, save lives and reduce injuries on our roads. Three People Arrested in Home Invasion

Brantford Police Service has charged three people in relation to a home invasion last night on Colborne Street.  

On Tuesday October 8, 2019 at approximately 6:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a residence on Colborne Street, Brantford.  Three people had broken into the residence and threatened the three residences inside.  One suspect claimed to be armed with a firearm; however no firearm was seen or brandished.  One victim was targeted by the three suspects; he was able to flee the residence to safety.   The three suspects chased after the victim and then fled the area.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the three male victims who were not injured as a result of the incident.  Officers were able to contain the area and located the three suspects a short distance away.  All three suspects were arrested without incident.  A firearm was not located and is not believed to have been involved in this incident.  While dealing with the three accused, one was found to be in possession of $1000 worth of suspected cocaine and a second accused was found to be in possession of $1000 worth of suspected fentanyl. 

As a result of the investigation three males have been arrested and are facing a number of Criminal Code charges.

Update - Brantford Police Investigate a Home Invasion

On Monday October 7, 2019 at approximately 9:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a residence on Sarah Street, Brantford.  Three people had broken into the residence and were armed with firearms.  Four people were in their residence at the time and one victim was assaulted.  Three suspects fled the scene on foot.  Community Patrol Officers with the assistance of Woodstock Police K9 Unit attended to the area where they located the victims.  One victim was treated by Emergency Medical Services for minor injuries.  Officers and Police K9 conducted a search and a track of the area where they were able to locate and arrest two suspects without incident.  The two accused were located hiding on nearby properties a short distance away.  A third suspect is still outstanding.

Gunshots were fired outside the residence by the accused as they were fleeing the area.  

This is not believed to be a random act of violence. 

On Tuesday October 8, 2019 Brantford Police Service with the assistance of Guelph Police Service K9 conducted a ground search and located two firearms a short distance away from the residence.

Location:   Dalhousie Street  
Incident: On Tuesday October 1, 2019 at approximately 4:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a call regarding a Break and Enter on Dalhousie Street.  Security Officers located a commercial building under construction that had been entered and it was believed that the person(s) may still be inside.  Community Patrol Officers attended and checked the business where they located one suspect inside.  The suspect male was arrested without incident.  While dealing with the male he was found to be in possession of tools used to enter the building and secure compound.  A 28 year old Brantford male has been charged with Break and Enter with Intent and Possession of Break-in Instruments.

Incident: On Monday September 30, 2019 at approximately 11:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a call on King George Road.  An unknown male was seen in a nearby plaza holding what appeared to be a handgun.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the suspect male.  The male was arrested without incident and was found to be in possession of a black imitation handgun as well as a small amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine.  Information was received that the accused was currently bound by two court orders with conditions that he was contravening.  As a result of the investigation a 34 year old Brantford male is charged with Possession of Weapon Dangerous, Breach of Recognizance and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code.  He is further charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Incident:  On Friday September 27. 2019 just after 1:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a disturbance call on Market Street.  An unknown male was on the sidewalk yelling and waving a pocket knife around in the air.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located and spoke to the male.  Officers were able to calm the male and he was arrested without incident.  Information was received that the accused was currently bound by a court order with conditions.  A 37 year old Cambridge male is charged with Possession of Weapons Dangerous and Breach of Recognizance under the Criminal Code.

Incident:   On Sunday September 29, 2019 just after 1:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a suspicious vehicle call in the area of Anderson Road and Munro Circle.  An unknown vehicle was observed in the area of new houses that were under construction.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle.  Officers observed the front door to a new house under construction was open.   In searching the residence an unknown male was located in the basement.  The male was arrested without incident and was found to be in possession of break-in instruments.  A 55 year old Brantford male is charged with Break and Enter with Intent and Possession of Break-In Instruments under the Criminal Code.

Incident:  On Friday September 27, 2019 at approximately 10:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call in the area of Dalhousie Street and Queen St.  Two males had been seen arguing when one of the males pulled a knife.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the victim.  He advised that he had gotten into an argument with the suspect when the suspect brandished a knife and they fled the area.  The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.  Through investigation Officers were able to confirm the identity of the suspect who was located and arrested a short time later without incident.  A 17 year old Brantford male is charged with Assault with a Weapon and Possession of Weapon Dangerous under the Criminal Code.

Location:  Dublin Street  
Incident:  On Friday September 27, 2019 just before 1:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call about a disturbance on Dublin Street.  An unknown male was on the roadway yelling and screaming and causing a disturbance.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located and spoke to the male.  The male appeared to be under the influence and was uncooperative with police.  The male continued to cause a disturbance and was arrested.  While dealing with the male he provided false information to police and investigation revealed that he was currently wanted on two outstanding warrants for his arrest.  A 30 year old Brantford male was arrested on the outstanding warrants and has been charged with Cause a Disturbance and Obstruct Police under the Criminal Code.  .

Incident:    On Wednesday September 25, 2019 at approximately 8:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call about a disturbance between a male and female outside a residence on Alfred Street.  A male had attended to the residence and a verbal altercation ensued.  The female’s mother attended to the residence and when she tried to intervene she was pushed and threatened by the male.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the residence where they located the parties involved.  Information was received that the male was currently bound by two court orders that he was contravening.  As a result of the investigation a 24 year old Wallaceburg male is charge with Uttering Threats to Cause Death/Bodily Harm, Assault, Breach of Recognizance and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code.

Location:   Market Street 
Incident:   On Tuesday September 24, 2019 just before 12:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a call about a male who was sitting in a vehicle parked on the street and had been continuously revving the engine for some time.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle.  Officers spoke to the male driver who showed signs of impairment.  The male was arrested and transported in order to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over the legal limit.  As a result of the investigation a 33 year old Jarvis male has been charged with Operation While Impaired and 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  The accused licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Incident:  On Tuesday September 24, 2019 just after 11:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a robbery call on Market Street.  An unknown female was seen trying to steal the purse from an elderly female who had been walking down the street.  A security officer heard the victim’s cries for help and came to her assistance.  The suspect fled the area on foot.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located and arrested the suspect without incident a short distance away.  Information was received that the accused was currently bound by two court orders with conditions.  A 34 year old Brantford woman has been charged with Robbery under the Criminal Code.

Location:  Icomm Drive    
Incident: On Wednesday September 25, 2019 just after 12:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a call about a suspected impaired driver.  A male had attended to a business on Icomm Drive and was showing signs of impairment.  Community Patrol Officers located the vehicle and male driver in the parking lot of the business.  While dealing with the driver Officers observed signs of impairment and issued a demand for a roadside screening device.  The male driver failed the roadside screening device and was arrested.  The male was transported in order to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused refused to provide a breath sample.  A 26 year old Brantford male is charged with Refuse to Provide Breath sample under the Criminal Code.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
