Brantford Police Charge a Second Male in Relation to the Shooting in January 2018

Brantford Police Service have charged a second person in relation to the shooting incident that took place in January 2018
On Monday January 1, 2018 just after 5:30 p.m. the Branford Police Service received a call about a male who had been taken to the Brantford General Hospital with life threatening injuries.  Investigation revealed that a shooting incident had occurred in the area of St Paul Ave and Terrace Hill Street.   The victim, Jeffrey Ronald Maxner died as a result of his injuries.
The Major Crime Unit investigated the incident and on February 2, 2018, Joel Scalzo a 28 year old Brantford resident was charged with First Degree Murder.
Members of the Brantford Police Service have continued this investigation into this incident since it occurred in January 2018 and as a result of the continued investigation a second person has been charged.  Preaktra Chao a 26 year old Brantford male has been charged with First Degree Murder. 
It is believed that the victim and the accused were known to each other and that this was not a random act of violence.

Charges Laid in Homicide Investigation

On Friday April 5, 2019 the Brantford Police Service investigated a shooting incident at a William Street address.  The resident of that address received a gunshot wound and was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

The Brantford Police Service – Major Crime Unit has continued this investigation and on June 4, 2019 charged Terry Chad STUCKLESS with the murder of Gerald Robert MALE.

The Brantford Police Service would like to offer their condolences to the family of Mr. MALE and would like to thank them for their cooperation and patience during this investigation.

Incident:  19-20328
Location:  North Park Street
Incident:   On Sunday June 2, 2019 just before 8:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a report of a possible impaired driver on West Street near Galileo Blvd.  A vehicle had been seen driving at high rate of speed, driving erratically and skidded through an intersection.  Community Patrol Offices attended and searched the area for the vehicle.  While Officers were searching for the vehicle a second report was received about the same vehicle that had just mounted a curb and struck a fence and drove away on North Park Street.  Officers were able to locate the vehicle which was stopped but still running on North Park St.  Officers located the lone male driver in the vehicle and while speaking to him observed signs of impairment.  The driver was given a demand for a roadside screening device.  The driver failed the screening device and was arrested.  While dealing with the accused a small amount of suspected cocaine was located inside the vehicle.  The accused was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over the legal limit.   A 27 year old Brantford male has been charged with 80 Plus and Fail to Remain at an Accident under the Criminal Code.  He is also charged with Possession of Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  The accused licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:   River Road
Incident:   On Saturday June 1, 2019 just after 7:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a suspicious vehicle.  A vehicle had been seen driving at a high rate of speed up and down River Road.  At one point the vehicle hit the curb and received a flat time.  A male driver was seen getting out of the vehicle and then got back in and drove away on a flat time.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the damaged curb and observed marks on the roadway.  Investigation revealed that the vehicle left the scene and was located parked in a driveway on Passmore Cres.  A male was seen a short distance away from the vehicle who was identified as the driver.  Information was received that the driver was currently wanted on an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  The male was arrested without incident.  While dealing with the driver, Officer observed signs of impairment.  The accused was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over the legal limit.  As a result of the investigation a 39 year old Brantford male has been charged with Operation While Impaired, 80 Plus and Dangerous Operation under the Criminal Code.  The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:  Colborne Street
Incident: On Thursday May 30, 2019 at approximately 6:45 p.m. Brantford Police Service were conducting an separate investigation when they were approached by a business owner regarding a suspicious male.  An unknown male was seen hanging around the business and had parked in a no parking area.  Community Patrol Officers located and spoke to the male.  Information was received that the male was currently bound by a court order with conditions that he was currently contravening.  The accused was arrested without incident.  While dealing with the accused he was found to be in possession of a large quantity of suspected Cocaine, Crystal Methamphetamine and Fentanyl (approx. value over $22,000) and a pair of brass knuckles.    As a result of the investigation a 31 year old Brantford male is charged with Possession of Prohibited Weapon and Breach of Recognizance under the Criminal Code.  He is further charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act x3.

Incident:  On Friday May 31, 2019 just after 6:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a motor vehicle accident on Colborne St.  A vehicle had been traveling on Colborne Street when it struck a vehicle parked at the side of the road.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the collision and the male driver.  While dealing with the driver he showed signs of impairment and was arrested.  The driver was given a demand for a Drug Evaluation.  The accused was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he performed a Drug Evaluation.  As a result of the investigation a 38 year old Brantford male has been charged with Operation While Impaired under the Criminal Code.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:   Clarence Street
Incident: On Thursday May 30, 2019 shortly after 2:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a possible impaired driver who had just left a business on Market Street.  Community Patrol Officers located the vehicle travelling on Clarence Street.  Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the female driver.  As a result of the traffic stop, the driver was given a demand to provide a sample into a roadside screening device.  The driver provided a sample and registered a fail.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where she was to provide samples of her breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over the legal limit.  A 21 year old Guelph woman has been charged with 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:  St Paul Ave
Incident:   On Saturday May 25, 2019 at approximately 3:40 a.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a Break and Enter to a business on Colborne Street.  An unknown suspect had forced open the front door and gained access to the business.  Once inside the suspect smashed open display cases and took a number of items before fleeing the store.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the scene where they located a trail of items leading away from the store.  Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.  Through investigation into this break and enter a suspect was identified.  On Tuesday May 28, 2019 just after 6:30 p.m. Community Patrol Officers observed the male suspect at a business on St Paul Ave.  Officers located and arrested the accused inside the store.  While dealing with the accused he was found to be in possession of Break-In instruments as well as identification and bank cards belonging to other individuals that had previously been reported stolen.  Information was also received that the accused was currently bound by eight court orders.  As a result of the investigations, a 30 year old Brantford male has been charged with Break, Enter and Commit and Breach of Recognizance for the incident on May 25, 2019.  He has further been charged with Possession of Break-In Instruments, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x2, Possession of Credit Card x2, Possession of Identity Documents and Fail to Comply with Recognizance under the Criminal Code.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Location:  William Street
Incident:  On Thursday May 23, 2019 just before 3:00 p.m. The Brantford Police Service Street Crime Unit was conducting an investigation in the area of William Street and Richmond Street.  While conducting their investigation Officers observed a vehicle park in the area which was occupied by two males.  The driver was known to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  Officers were able to arrest the accused without incident. While dealing with the accused he was found to be in possession of a large sum of Canadian Currency along with suspected Fentanyl, Cocaine, Crack Cocaine and Crystal Methamphetamine (approx. value $6300.00).  The passenger of the vehicle was also arrested without incident.  Information was received that both accused were currently bound by court orders with conditions and the driver was currently a Prohibited driver for life.   Officers continued the investigation and in searching the vehicle found approximately $3600 worth of suspected cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl.  As a result of the investigation Goran Nejat Kakamad a 22 year old Hamilton male was arrested on the outstanding warrant and has been further charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x 4 under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.  He is further charged with Operation while Prohibited x 5 and Breach of Probation x 2 under the Criminal Code.  The second accused, Ismail Daud Patel a 20 year old Hamilton male is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x4 under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and Breach of Probation x 2 under the Criminal Code.

Location:  Peel Street
Incident: On Friday May 24, 2019 at approximately 11:25 p.m. Community Patrol Officers were conducting an investigation in the area of Peel Street and Chatham Street.  While in the area Officers observed a vehicle back into and strike a parked vehicle and then attempt to drive away.  Officers blocked the vehicle from leaving the area and spoke to the female driver.  While speaking to the driver Officers observed signs of impairment.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Branford Police Service where she was to provide samples of her breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over two times the legal limit.  As a result of the investigation a 50 year old Brantford woman is charged with Operation While Impaired and 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  Her drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Location:   Dalhousie Street
Incident:  On Thursday May 23, 2019 just before 8:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about an assault.  A taxi driver had driven a fare to a residence on Glenwood Drive.  The driver exited the vehicle to assist the male out of the vehicle.  When he did the passenger refused to pay and began a confrontation with the driver.  The suspect began to push and confront the driver.  The driver got back into the vehicle and attempted to secure the door.  The suspect tried to grab the driver and began to punch the driver’s window.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the scene where they located and arrested the accused without incident.  A 56 year old Brantford male has been charged with Assault and Transportation Fraud.

Brantford Police Continue to Investigate Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

On Sunday May 26, 2019 Brantford Police Service responded to single motor vehicle collision on Colborne Street at Clara Cres. 

Just after 10:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a motor vehicle collision on Colborne Street East.  Community Patrol Officers along with the Brantford Fire Department and the Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services attended to the scene where they located the collision.  A lone male occupant who was the driver was located in the vehicle. 

Preliminary investigation into the collision shows that the motor vehicle
was travelling eastbound on Colborne Street when it lost control, crossed into the
westbound lanes and struck a pole on the north side of Colborne Street across
from the entrance to Clara Crescent.

The driver, Colton Pierce Nikolasevic a 23 year old Brantford male was transported to the Brantford General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Brantford Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate this incident. Anyone that witnessed this collision or has further information

Fatal Collision at Colborne Street East at Clara Crescent

Members of the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to investigate a single
Motor Vehicle Collision at approximately 10:08 am. The involved motor vehicle
was travelling eastbound on Colborne Street when it lost control, crossed into the
westbound lanes and struck a pole on the north side of Colborne Street across
from the entrance to Clara Crescent.
The driver, a 24 year old Brantford man was transported to the Brantford
General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His name is being held
pending next of kin notification.
The Brantford Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has carriage of this
investigation. Anyone that witnessed this collision or has further information
that may assist investigators, is asked to contact Constable Jeremy Morton at 519-

 Location:  West Street      
Incident:    On Monday May 20, 2019 just before 3:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a disturbance call on West Street.  A group of males were involved in a verbal argument when one of the males pulled out a knife and started to chase the others down the street.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located and arrested the suspect male without incident.  None of the parties involved were injured as a result of the incident.  Investigation revealed that the accused was currently bound by two court orders that he was contravening.  A 42 year old Simcoe male is charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Fail to Comply with Recognizance Order and Fail to Comply with Probation.

Incident:  On Sunday May 19, 2019 just before 1:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a possible impaired driver.  A male was seen stumbling and getting into a vehicle and driving away.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the suspect vehicle.  Officers performed a traffic stop and spoke to the male driver.  While speaking to the driver Officers observed signs of impairment.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were two times the legal limit.  A 40 year old Brantford male has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and 80 Plus.  The accused licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Incident:  On Sunday May 19, 2019 at approximately 2:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle travelling on Erie Ave.  Officers observed the vehicle swerving in and out of marked lanes and performed a traffic stop.  While dealing with the driver, Officers observed signs of impairment.  Information was received that the driver only possessed a G2 licence and was in violation of the Novice Driver Alcohol condition.  The male driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over two times the legal limit.  As a result of the investigation a 21 year old Brantford male has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  He is also charged with Novice Driver – Zero Alcohol under the Highway Traffic Act.  The accused licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Incident:   On Saturday May 18, 2019 at approximately 6:30 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a motor vehicle accident on Colborne Street West and Sherwood Drive.  A vehicle had struck a parked vehicle and a pole.  The driver and passenger were then seen fleeing the car and the area.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the accident.  Officers checked the area and found the occupants a short distance away.  The male driver was arrested in regards to the accident.  While dealing with the driver Officers observed signs of impairment.  Information was received that the accused was currently bound by a court order with conditions.  As a result of the investigation a 29 year old Brantford male is charged with Failure to Stop After Accident, Operation While Impaired and Fail to Comply with Probation under the Criminal Code.

Incident:  On Friday May 17, 2019 just before 7:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a possible impaired driver on Icomm Drive.  A female had been refused entry into a business on Icomm Drive due to her state of intoxication.  The female was seen leaving in a taxi however returned a short time later and was then seen getting into a vehicle and attempting to drive away.  The female was blocked in by others in area until police arrived.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle and the female driver.  While dealing with the female officers observed signs of impairment.  The female was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where she was to provide samples of her breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over two times the legal limit.  As a result of the investigation a 52 year old Cambridge woman is charged with Operation While Impaired and 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  Her licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:  Colborne Street East
Incident:  On Friday May 17, 2019 shortly after 7:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle parked across two parking spaces in a business parking lot.  Officers observed the vehicle to be running and a male driver slouched over against the driver’s window asleep.  Officers spoke to the male driver who showed signs of impairment.  A demand was given for a field sobriety test and performed.  As a result of that test the driver was arrested.  While dealing with the accused a syringe with suspected cocaine was located on him.  The accused was given a demand for a Drug Recognition Evolution and transported to the Brantford Police Service. As a result of the investigation a 35 year old Brantford male is charged with Impaired Operation – Drug under the Criminal Code.  He is also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine) under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.  The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

 Location:  Lynden Road      
Incident:   On Thursday May 16, 2019 at approximately 8:10 p.m. Community Patrol Officers located a vehicle parked and running in a business parking lot on Lynden Road.  The vehicles driver side door was open and two males were observed in the vehicle.  Officers spoke to the occupants when they observed two open cans of beer in the centre console of the vehicle.  While dealing with the male driver Officers observed signs of impairment.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused readings were over two times the legal limit.  A 32 year old Welland male has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:  Dalhousie Street
Incident: On Wednesday May 15, 2019 just after 11:30 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a Break and Enter on Dalhousie Street.  An unknown male had been seen crawling into a vacant residence through a basement window.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the residence where they located the suspect male.  The male was found to be in possession of a crowbar and bolt cutters along with various pieces of scrap metal.  A 46 year old Brantford male has been charged with Break and Enter and Possession of Break-in Instruments under the Criminal Code.

Location: Wayne Gretzky parkway
Incident:   On Wednesday May 15, 2019 just after 1:30 a.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call on Wayne Gretzky Parkway regarding a possible impaired driver.   The driver had been travelling on Wayne Gretzky Parkway when he ran a red light and almost struck another vehicle.  The driver stopped, got out of his vehicle and was stumbling around before getting back inside and trying to drive away.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle and the driver.  Officers when speaking to the male driver observed signs of impairment.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused refused to provide samples.  As a result of the investigation a 39 year old Brantford male has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Failure/Refusal to Comply with Demand.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:  Grey Street
Incident:  On Tuesday May 14, 2019 just before 2:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a vehicle that had just collided with a house on Grey Street.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the scene where they located the motor vehicle accident.  The vehicle had been travelling on Clarence Street when it turned the corner at Grey Street.   The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the front porch of the residence.  While speaking to the driver she showed signs of impairment.  Investigation revealed that the driver was currently under the influence of pills.  The driver was arrested and given a demand for a drug recognition evaluation.  As a result of the drug recognition evaluation the driver was charged with impaired operation by drug.  Further investigation revealed that the accused licence was currently suspended and that the validation for the vehicle had expired and that a false validation had been put in its place.  A 42 year old Brantford woman has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Drug under the Criminal Code.  She is also charged with Drive While Under Suspension, Drive Motor Vehicle – No Currently Validated Permit and Use Validation not Furnished for Vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act.

Location:  Brantwood Park Road          
Incident:  On Saturday May 11, 2019 just after 1:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a motor vehicle collision on Brantwood Park Road.  A female driver had been travelling south on Brantwood Park Road when she struck a vehicle parked on the side of the road.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the accident and the female driver.  While dealing with the driver Officers located suspected cocaine ($450 street value) inside the vehicle along with other drug paraphernalia.  As a result of the investigation a 31 year old Brantford woman is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  She is also charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

 Location:  Colborne Street East      
Incident:   On Monday May 13, 2019 at approximately 5:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received 9-1-1 call about a suspicious vehicle on Echo Villa Ave and Colborne Street East.  A vehicle was stopped in the middle of the road and a male appeared to be sleeping in the driver seat.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle and the male driver.  Officers observed the male driver who appeared to be sleeping at the wheel with the vehicle still in drive.  Officers observed a baggie containing suspected cocaine with a straw in it in the drivers lap.  The driver was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Officer’s while dealing with the male observed signs of impairment.  The driver was given a demand for a Drug Recognition Evaluation.  As a result of the investigation a 42 year old Gravenhurst male is charged with Operation While Impaired – Drug under the Criminal Code.  He is also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  He is further charged with a number of offences under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:         Barnes Ave
Incident:   On Saturday May 11, 2019 just after 10:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a residential complex on Barnes Ave.  An intoxicated male had attempted to gain access to the complex and when he was unsuccessful he was seen getting into a vehicle parked in the parking lot.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located a male matching the description in the driver`s seat of a running vehicle in the parking lot.  Officers spoke to the male who showed signs of impairment and he was given a demand for a roadside screening device. While dealing with the male Officers located an open bottle of beer in the centre console of the vehicle.  The driver registered a fail on the roadside screening device and was arrested.  The accused was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  As a result of the accused samples he was issued a 3 day licence suspension.  He was also charged with Having Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle with pen Container of Liquor under the Highway Traffic Act.

Incident:          On Sunday May 12, 2019 just before 5:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received 9-1-1 call about a possible impaired driver on Lynden Road.  A vehicle was seen swerving in and out of marked lanes and was stopping for green lights at intersections.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle parked at a Lynden Road business.  A male driver had been observed in the vehicle and was located at the business.  While dealing with the male driver he showed signs of impairment and was given a demand for a roadside screening device.  The driver failed the roadside screening device and was arrested.  The accused was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over two times the legal limit.  As a result of the investigation a 25 year old Brantford male has been charged with 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Incident:          On Saturday May 11, 2019 just after 1:30 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle exit a business on King George Road.  When the driver observed the marked police vehicle he reversed back into the parking lot and drove to the rear of the business.  Officers followed the vehicle and spoke to the driver.  While speaking to the driver Officers observed signs of impairment and the driver was given a demand for a roadside screening device.  The driver provided a sample which registered a fail.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  As a result of the investigation the driver was issued a three days licence suspension.

Incident:          On Saturday May 11, 2019 just before 2:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a call about a possible impaired driver who had just left a business on Market Street.  Community Patrol Officers attended the area where they located the vehicle driving down Market Street.  Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the male driver.  While dealing with the driver, Officers observed signs of impairment.  The driver was given a demand for a roadside screening device.  The driver provided a sample which registered a fail.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over the legal limit.  A 25 year old Brantford male has been charged with 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  The accused licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Incident:  On Wednesday May 8, 2019 at approximately 2:45 a.m. Community Patrol Officers located a vehicle parked in a business parking lot on Brantwood Park Road.  Officers spoke to the male driver who was showing signs of impairment.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused’s reading were over two times the legal limit.  A 48 year old Kitchener male is charged with Operation While Impaired and 80 Plus.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Incident:   On Tuesday May 7, 2019 just before 3:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle traveling east on Colborne Street.  The vehicle was driving at a slow rate of speed and was weaving in and out of marked lanes.  Officers performed a traffic stop and spoke to the male driver.  Information was received that the driver was currently wanted on three outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions.  The driver was arrested without incident.  While dealing with the accused he was found to be in possession of suspected cocaine ($150 value) and crystal methamphetamine ($1000 value).  A 35 year old Cambridge male was arrested on the outstanding warrants and has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance x2 under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Location:   Marlborough Street
Incident:  On Tuesday May 7, 2019 just after 10:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a call on Marlborough Street.  An unknown male was seen sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked on the road drinking a beer.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle and driver.  Officers observed an open bottle of beer beside the driver and other empty beer bottles inside the vehicle.  While speaking to the driver he showed signs of impairment.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he provided samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused readings registered a warning and he was issued a 3 days licence suspension.  Investigation revealed that the drivers licence was currently suspended, his validation was expired and he had no insurance on the vehicle.  As a result of the investigation a 47 year old Brantford male has been charged with Drive While Under Suspension and Drive Motor Vehicle – no Currently Validated Permit under the Highway Traffic Act.  He is also charged with Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and Having Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor under the Liquor Licence Act.
