The Brantford Police Service is joining police services across Ontario in kicking off Police Week (#PoliceWeekON), which celebrates the work front-line police officers, 9-1-1 communicators, civilian staff, and all members of Ontario police services do to keep Ontarians safe and healthy.

This year, Police Week runs from May 15 to 21, 2022. The theme for the week is Your Police Services: Helping Build Safer Communities, which highlights and celebrates the vital role our police officers and personnel play in helping Ontarians build and maintain healthy and safe communities across our Province.

Police Week was first observed in 1970 and coincides with the Peace Officers Memorial Day, which is recognized internationally on May 15. "This year, we look forward to being able to highlight some of the exceptional work of our officers and personnel and thank them for their dedication to our community,” said Robin Matthews-Osmond, Brantford Police Service Corporate Communications Manager.

Throughout this week, the Brantford Police Service will be showcasing some of the many ways in which our members continue to serve our community. Be sure to follow the Brantford Police Service on Facebook @BrantfordPolice Service and Twitter @BrantfordPolice for this information.

To kick-off Police Week, along with Brantford-Brant Crime Stoppers, Ontario Provincial Police and Six Nations Police, the Brantford Police Service are hosting a FREE Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 10 a.m., to 2 p.m., at the Children’s Safety Village, located at 407 Elgin Street in Brantford. The event will feature Canine demonstrations, police vehicles, and Emergency Response Team demonstrations.

Annual Police Week in Ontario is sponsored by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) and the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General. It is part of National Police Week led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
