Brantford Police Gun Amnesty A Success

May 7, 2018

During the month of April, the Brantford Police Service participated in a Provincial Community Safety Initiative that provided citizens an easy and safe way to surrender unwanted firearms and ammunition for destruction.  As a result, a total of 43 firearms (including one handgun, 22 rifles and 20 replicas) and 1,359 rounds of ammunition were turned into police for safe disposal.

The aim of the gun amnesty program is to improve public safety by reducing the number of firearms in our community. The Brantford Police Service would like to remind people that they can still call the non-emergency line anytime at 519-756-7050 to make arrangements for the disposal of unwanted firearms/replicas or ammunition ? but are asked not to take items to the police station. Information will be collected over the phone and a Community Patrol Officer will contact people with details.

The Brantford Police Service would like to thank the members of our community for their continued support with this initiative.
