On Thursday, September 8, 2022, members of the Brantford Police Service Tactical Intelligence Generated Enforcement and Response Unit (T.I.G.E.R.) completed a drug trafficking investigation named Project Viking.

During the course of the investigation, three Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants were executed. Unfortunately, one of the warrants was executed at an incorrect address by our Emergency Response Team.

In accordance with the Brantford Police Services’ high standards of professional performance, a Chief’s Investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding this oversight and to implement any policy improvements should they be required. The BPS Emergency Response Team is a highly trained group of professionals who constantly strive for improvement. The investigation will assist with this.

The Brantford Police Service acknowledges that this experience would have been unsettling for those impacted and have engaged Victim Services of Brant to ensure those affected receive the assistance they require.

The Brantford Police Service values open communication with our community and would like to assure residents that our members are actively committed to protecting the rights of all persons and strive to demonstrate the highest possible degree of personal and professional integrity in the performance of duties.

"Transparency and accountability are core values of the Brantford Police Service and, as Chief, I am conducting a Chief’s Investigation to determine how this type of error could have occurred and want to assure residents of Brantford that measures will be put in place to make sure this does not occur again. Above all else, the trust of our community is essential to the Brantford Police Service.”     - Chief Rob Davis
