On Thursday, January 21, 2021 at approximately 11:00 p.m., Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend reports of an assault in the area of Queen Street.
 
Within a Queen Street apartment, a verbal dispute occurred between a female and male who were known to each other. The female suspect allegedly hit the male victim and later sprayed him in the face with mace.

Investigation revealed that the suspect was bound by a recognizance to keep the peace.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old-female from Brantford stands charged with the following under the Criminal Code:
  • Common Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Weapons Dangerous
  • Breach Peace Bond

               Impaired Driving - Alcohol
Incident:          21-02513
Location:          Dorothy Street / Harriett Street
 
On Friday, January 22, 2020 at approximately 1:46 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to the area of Dorothy Street in relation to a report of an impaired driver.
 
A caller had advised that the accused was operating his motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, allegedly running over her foot while she was nearby the vehicle. The accused was also observed operating the vehicle by a witness.
 
Officers located the accused at his residence on Harriett Street. While speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of intoxication. Investigation revealed that driver’s licence of the accused was currently suspended  
 
The accused was placed under arrest for impaired operation and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

While in custody the demand for a breath sample was given, as required by law, however the accused refused.

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old male from Brantford has been charged with the following offences:
  • Impaired Operation contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Dangerous Operation contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Fail to Render Assistance contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Fail to Remain contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
 
Type:                   Stolen Vehicles
Incident:             21-02647
Location:            Sinclair Blvd.
 
On Saturday January 23, 2021 at approximately 3:22 am, Community Patrol Officers with the Brantford Police Service located two suspicious motor vehicles at a Sinclair Boulevard truck stop.
 
When the officers approached the vehicles, three males fled on foot and were subsequently apprehended by officers.
 
Investigation revealed the two vehicles had previously been reported stolen. Further investigation revealed one of the accused men was violating conditions of a valid Undertaking by Officer in Charge. A second accused male was found to be in violation of a valid Judge’s Release Order.  
 
Stolen licence plates and a small amount of suspected heroin were located in the vehicles.
 
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old male from Brampton is charged with the following:    
  • Possession of a Stolen Vehicle – contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession Stolen Property (plates) – contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Breach of Undertaking by Officer in Charge – Contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possession Controlled Substance (suspected heroin) – contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Additionally, a 23-year-old male from Brantford stands charged with the following under the Criminal Code:
  • Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
  • Possession Stolen Property (plates)
  • Fail to Comply Judges Order

Both of the accused were held for bail.

Location:          Garden Ave / 403 W
 
On Sunday, January 24, 2021 at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were travelling westbound on Highway 403 near Garden Avenue when a vehicle was observed driving in an erratic manner.
 
Officers conducted a traffic stop and, upon speaking with the driver, observed signs of intoxication. Open containers of alcohol were observed within the vehicle, accessible to the driver.
 
The accused was arrested and transported to provide a sample of breath as required by law. Samples provided by the accused were over the levels permissible by law.
 
As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old male from Brantford was arrested for 80 Milligrams Plus under the Criminal Code. 
 

As the accused was operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s licence, his licence was seized. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:          Marlene Avenue
 
On Monday, January 25, 2021 at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a residence on Marlene Avenue in regards to an offensive weapon complaint.  
 
Information was received that a male attended a neighbour apartment and, after a brief conflict, brandished a machete in a threatening manner towards a female resident. The female was not injured. 
 
Officers attended the location and located the suspect male within his apartment. The suspect male fled from police however he was stopped by police. The suspect resisted when being placed under arrest.
 
The suspect male was found to be in possession of a machete.
 
Further investigation revealed that the accused was in violation of a valid Undertaking by Officer in Charge with the condition "not to possess any weapon”.
 
As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old-male from Brantford stands charged with the following under the Criminal Code:
  • Possession of weapons dangerous
  • Uttering threats to person
  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Escape from lawful custody
  • Resist arrest
 
The accused was held for bail.
