Type: Domestic Assault
Incident: 17- 27625
Location: Market Street (100 Block)
Incident: On Saturday July 22, 2017 shortly after noon hour a citizen called police to report a disturbance behind a restaurant on Market Street. Police arrived and spoke to a 35 year old Brantford woman who reported that her x-boyfriend had just threatened to kill her and took her cell phone. While officers spoke with the victim the accused approached them on Market Street. The accused was observed to be yelling obscenities and flailing his arms. An officer approached and arrested the male for uttering threats and the male resisted pulling his arm away. The accused swung at the officer with a closed fist just grazing his head and continued to be assaultive and resisting. The officers were able to gain control of the accused.
 The accused a 44 year old Brantford man was charged with the following offences; Uttering Threats, Theft under $5,000.00 and Assault with intent to resist arrest. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Type: Fraud 
Incident: 17- 27672
Location: Colborne Street (100 block)
Incident: On July 22, 2017 at approximately 8:20 p.m. a B.E.A.T officer on routine patrol on Bain Street was flagged down by a taxi driver. The citizen advised that a fare had just exited the taxi without paying for services. The officer searched the immediate area and observed the accused hiding behind a pillar not far away on Colborne Street. The officer attempted to arrest the accused for fraud and the accused resisted arrest. A brief struggle ensued and the accused was arrested.
Ansel Kipp MCNEIL, 28 years of age from Brantford is charged with Transportation Fraud, Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, Breach of Probation. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Type: Sudden Death - Cyclist 
Incident: 17- 27850
Location: Terrace Hill Street
 On July 24, 2017 shortly before 2:30 a.m. an officer on routine patrol was flagged down by a citizen on Terrace Hill Street. The citizen advised that an unknown male was lying on the ground injured. The male had received serious head injury and was transported to the hospital. The victim, a 47 year old Brantford man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The BPS Traffic Unit is investigating the sudden death involving this cyclist. It is believed that the deceased was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk and fell off his bike receiving a fatal head injury.  The cyclist was not wearing a helmet.
  The Brantford Police Traffic Unit continues their investigation and seeks assistance from anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.   Anyone with information is encouraged to call Constable Mark Baxter at 519-756-0113 ext 2212
