Location:       Fairview Drive and Brier Park Road
Incident:On Sunday, March 8, 2020 at approximately 9:30 a.m. Brantford Police responded to a report from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of Fairview Drive and North Park Street. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where the vehicle was located and observed travelling at a high rate of speed in a dangerous manner, nearly hitting other vehicles. Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, Officers observed signs of impairment. Investigation revealed the driver may be impaired by drugs.  The driver was arrested and given a demand for a Drug Recognition Evaluation as required by law. As a result of the Drug Recognition Evaluation the driver was charged. During processing, the accused was found to be in possession of a small amount of suspected cannabis and a small amount of an unknown powdery substance. A 29 year old male from Brantford is charged with Impaired Operation – Drug under the Criminal Code. The accused’s license was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Location:       Clarence Street
Incident:On Sunday, March 8, 2020 at approximately 5:10 p.m. Brantford Police responded to a report of an assault on Clarence Street. The victim had been walking past a residence on Clarence Street when he made a comment about the resident’s dog. The resident then assaulted the male victim with a hammer. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the victim who was treated for minor injuries by Emergency Medical Services. As a result of the investigation, a 24 year old male from Brantford is charged with Assault with Weapon.

Location:     Darling Street and King Street
Incident:On Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at approximately 1:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle travelling on Dalhousie Street.  Information was received that the licence plates did not belong to that vehicle.  A traffic stop was conducted at Darling Street and King Street where the investigation revealed that the driver was operating the motor vehicle with a suspended license and was unable to provide proof of insurance. Information was received that the driver was currently wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant. The driver was arrested and transported for processing. During processing, the accused was found to be in possession of a small amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine. As a result of the investigation, a 29 year old male from Brantford is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is further charged with Drive While Under Suspension and Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act. He is also charged with Owner Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
