Location:    Powerline Road    
Incident: On Saturday February 29, 2020 at approximately 8:45 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a report of an impaired driver on Powerline Road.  A vehicle had been seen traveling on Powerline Road, swerving in and out of its lane and almost contacting oncoming traffic.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle stopped at a traffic light on Powerline Road and King George Road.  Officers observed that the vehicle was also driving without its headlights activated.  Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the female driver.  While speaking to the driver Officers observed signs of impairment and observed empty beer cans in the backseat.  The driver was arrested and transported in order to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over 2x the legal limit.  A 42 year old female from Brantford is charged with Impaired Operation and 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  The accused licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:   Stanley Street   
Incident: On Sunday Mach 1, 2020 just after 4:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call regarding a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a business on Stanley Street.  The vehicle was parked in the parking lot and two females were observed passed out inside the vehicle.  Community Patrol Officers attended and located the vehicle and its occupants.  Officers observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle and after repeated attempts were able to wake the occupants.  Investigation revealed that the occupants had recently used fentanyl.  The driver was arrested and information was received that the passenger was currently wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant held by another jurisdiction as well as being bound by a court order with conditions.  Further investigation revealed a small amount of fentanyl in the vehicle as well as an amount of cannabis that was readily available to the driver and occupants.  As a result of the investigation the driver a 27 year old Brantford woman is charged with Impaired Operation – Drug under the Criminal Code.  She is further charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as well as Have Care and Control of Vehicle with Cannabis in Open Baggage under the Cannabis Control Act.   The passenger a 33 year old Brantford woman was arrested on the outstanding warrant and is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code.

Location:    Colborne Street    
Incident:On Friday February 28, 2020 Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle traveling on Colborne Street at a slow speed, making erratic driving maneuvers.  Officers conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the male driver and passenger.  While dealing with the driver he was unable to provide a drivers licence or any documentation for the vehicle.  Information was received that the drivers licence was currently under suspension and that he was currently bound by more than one court order with conditions that he was contravening and was arrested.  Officers spoke to and dealt with the passenger who was observed to be in possession of brass knuckles and was arrested.  While processing the passenger he was found to be in possession of a second set of brass knuckles, a large amount of Canadian Currency as well as a large amount of Fentanyl.  The passenger was also bound by a court order with conditions.  Officers located over $4000 worth of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine and $5,500 worth of suspected Fentanyl.  As a result of the investigation a 27 year old Brantford male is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2 under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  He is further charged with Breach of Probation and Breach of Release Order under the Criminal Code as well as Drive While Under Suspension under the Highway Traffic Act.  The passenger a 39 year old Brantford male is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2 under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  He is further charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose x2, Proceeds of Crime and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code.

Location:   Nelson Street    
Incident: On Friday February 28, 2020 at approximately 9:45 p.m. Brantford Police Service received 9-1-1 call about a hit and run motor vehicle collision.  A truck had driven into a parked car on Nelson Street and fled the scene.  Community Patrol Officers in the area where able to locate and stopped the suspect vehicle.  Officers spoke to the male driver and observed signs of impairment.  The driver was arrested and was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl.  The accused was given a demand for a Drug Recognition Evaluation.  During the evaluation the accused refused to comply.  As a result of the investigation a 25 year old Woodstock male has been charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand and Operation While Impaired under the Criminal Code.  He is further charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Fail to Remain under the Highway Traffic Act.  The accused licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 7 days.
