Location:   Clarence Street South
Incident:On Thursday April 30, 2020 just before 3:00 p.m. Brantford Police responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding an assault at a business on Clarence Street.  An unknown male had attempted to steal a car that was parked in the parking lot and threatened to stab the owner with a pair of scissors when confronted.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the victim who was not physically injured as a result of the incident.  Officers searched the area and located the suspect a short distance away.  The accused fled on foot when he observed police, however was arrested after a brief struggle.  Investigation revealed the accused was currently bound by a court order with conditions.  A 25 year old Brantford male is charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of Weapons Dangerous, Theft Under $5000, Attempt Theft Over $5000, Resist Arrest, Escape Lawful Custody and Breach of Probation.

Location:   Erie Ave
Incident:On Thursday April 30, 2020 just after 9:30 p.m. Brantford Police responded to a 9-11 call regarding a suspected impaired driver on Erie Ave near the Veterans Memorial Parkway.  A vehicle was seen driving in the area crossing the centre line and weaving all over the road.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they were able to locate the vehicle and it was observed by Officers to be crossing the centre line and striking the curb.  When Officers attempted to stop the vehicle it hit and mounted the curb coming to rest partially on the sidewalk.  Officers spoke to the male driver and observed signs of impairment.   The driver was arrested and given a demand for a Drug Recognition Evaluation. While dealing with the accused he was found to be in possession of several Oxycodone pills.  As a result of the investigation a 45 year old Brantford male is charged with Impaired Operation – Drug under the Criminal Code.  He is further charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  The accused licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:Harriet Street
Incident:On Friday May 1, 2020 just after 12:00 a.m. Brantford Police received a 9-1-1 call regarding a suspicious vehicle.  A vehicle was observed driving up and down the street at a high rate of speed and honking its horn.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle.  Officers were able to stop the vehicle and spoke to the female driver.  Officers observed open alcohol in the front consul of the vehicle.   The driver was given a demand for a roadside screening device.  The driver failed the roadside screening device, was arrested and transported in order to provide samples of her breath as required by law.  The driver’s samples were over the legal limit.  A 23 year old female from Brantford is charged with 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  Her licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
