Type: Assault with Weapon
Location: Elgin Street
Incident: On Wednesday October 31, 2018 just after 10:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a call about a male who had been stabbed at a residence on Elgin Street. The suspect had attended to the residence and had gotten into a verbal argument with the 37 year old male victim. At one point during the argument the accused pulled out a knife, stabbed the victim and fled the scene. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the victim. The victim was treated and transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services. The victim received non-life threatening injures and is recovering. The suspect and victim are known to each other. Officers searched the area and arrested the suspect without incident. A 44 year old Brantford male has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Assault Cause Bodily Harm. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
Type: Impaired Driving
Location: Chatham Street
Incident: On Thursday November 1, 2018 just before 1:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a single motor vehicle accident on Chatham Street. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle and the driver. A vehicle had being driving on Chatham Street when it hit a tree outside a residence. The male driver was treated by Emergency Medical Services and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Offices spoke to the male driver who showed signs of intoxication. The driver was arrested and given a demand to provide a sample of his breath as required by law. The driver refused to provide a sample to police. As a result of the investigation a 35 year old Brantford male has been charged with Refuse to Provide Breath Sample. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
