Location:  Grey Street  
Incident:  On Sunday November 10, 2019 just after 9:30 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Grey Street.  The vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at Grey Street and James Ave.  Officers then observed the vehicle fail to stop for two more controlled intersections before coming to a stop.  A male driver was observed in the vehicle.  While speaking to the driver Officers were advised that the vehicle had been taken by the driver without the owner’s consent and that he is currently a suspended driver.  Officers also observed signs of impairment and the driver admitted to recent drug use.  The male was arrested and given a demand to perform a Drug Recognition Evaluation.  Further investigation revealed that the accused had stolen and cashed a check belonging to the owner of the vehicle.  As a result of the Drug Recognition Evaluation and further investigation a 38 year old Brantford male is charged with Impaired Operation, Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent, Fraud Under $5000 and Utter Forged Document under the Criminal Code.  He is further charged with Careless Driving and Drive While Under Suspension under the Highway Traffic Act.

Location:  Icomm Drive  
Incident:  On Sunday November 10, 2019 just before 4:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about an impaired driver.  A male had attended to a business on Icomm Drive but was denied services due to being intoxicated.  The male was seen getting into a vehicle and leaving the area.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle parked a short time later.  The driver was seen walking down the street away from the vehicle.  While dealing with the male Officers observed signs of impairment.  The male was arrested and transported in order to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over 2X the legal limit.  A 60 year old Brantford male has been charged with Operation While Impaired and 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:  Terrace Hill Street   
Incident: On Saturday November 9, 2019 at approximately 10:00 p.m. Community Patrol Officers while at the Brantford General Hospital were approached by Security staff who advised that someone had started a fire in the emergency room washroom.  Officers attended and observed smoke and water coming from the washroom as the occupant was trying to stuff wet paper under the door to conceal the smoke.  Officers were able to gain entry into the washroom where they located a male who had started a fire in the washroom sink and there was water all over the floor.  The male was arrested without incident.  Information was received that the accused was currently bound by a court order with conditions.  While dealing with the male he was found to be in possession of a credit card that had previously been reported stolen.  A 56 year old Brantford male was charged with Arson, Mischief Under $5000, Possession of Stolen Credit Card and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code.

Location:  Lynden Road   
Incident: On Friday November 8, 2019 just before 6:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a fraud call at a business on Lynden Road.  Information had been received that a female was attempting to purchase a vehicle and that the identification used was believed to be false.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the business where they located and spoke to the female.  Investigation revealed that she had produced a false driver’s license and had provided a false name and information.  Further investigation revealed the female was currently bound by two court orders and was wanted on an outstanding warrant for her arrest.  The woman was arrested without incident.  While dealing with the accused she was found to be in possession of a small amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine and fake identification.  A 42 year old Toronto woman has been charged with Attempt Fraud Over $5000, Identity Theft, Obstruct Police and Fail to Comply with Undertaking under the Criminal Code.  She is further charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Location:  West Street  
Incident:  On Saturday November 9, 2019 just after 3:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a possible impaired driver.  A female was seen in the driver’s seat and slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle parked in the parking lot.  Community Patrol Officers attended and located the vehicle.  Officers observed the female driver slumped over in the driver’s seat and observed drug paraphernalia in her hand.  Officers were able to wake and spoke to the driver.  Officers observed signs of impairment and arrested the driver without incident.  While dealing with the driver she was found to be in possession of a small amount of suspect crack cocaine.  Information was received that the accused was currently bound by three court orders with conditions.  As a result of the investigation a 29 year old Brantford woman has been charged with Impaired Operation, Breach of Recognizance x2 and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code.  She is further charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
