CRIME BRIEF: November 29, 2022

Incident: 22-48782
Location: Nelson Street
On Monday, November 28, 2022, at approximately 5:45 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to a Nelson Street location after receiving an anonymous call to report a possible impaired driver.
Officers attended and located the subject vehicle and driver. Speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.
Roadside screening was conducted. The accused registered a Fail.
The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over three times the legal limit.
As a result, a 32-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Operation while Impaired-Alcohol
- Operation while Impaired-Blood Alcohol Concentration
Additionally, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s licence of the accused, suspended.

Location: Colborne Street West
On Monday, November 28, 2022, at approximately 9:15 A.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a Colborne Street West retail location, to investigate a report of a theft that occurred overnight.
Investigation revealed that a male had entered the retail location at approximately 3:00 A.M. and removed a charity donation container before leaving the store on foot.
Officers identified the suspect, who was determined to be in violation of a valid Probation Order.
Officers located the accused nearby, who was arrested without incident.
As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Theft Under $5000
- Breach of Probation

Location: Clarence Street South and Greenwich Street
On Sunday November 27, 2022, at approximately 1:00 A.M., patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a vehicle travelling erratically and at a high rate of speed, west bound on Clarence Street towards Greenwich Street.
A traffic stop was conducted and, in speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.
The accused was arrested for impaired operation and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over three times the legal limit.
As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration
- Dangerous Operation
Additionally, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s licence of the accused, suspended.

Location: Icomm Drive
On Saturday, November 26, 2022, at approximately 8:30 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving a report of a possible impaired driver at a fast-food restaurant located at Icomm Drive.
Officers located the suspect vehicle at Dalhousie Street and Alfred Street where a traffic stop was conducted in order to determine sobriety of the driver.
Speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.
Both samples were over the legal limit.
As a result, a 29-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol
Additionally, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s licence of the accused, suspended.

Incident: 22-48406
Location: Market Street
On Friday, November 25, 2022, at approximately 10:30 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a weapons related call in the area of Victoria Park, Market Street.
A report was received to advise that a 38-year-old male victim was threatened to be stabbed by another man after a brief verbal dispute.
Officers attended, located, and arrested the accused.
Search incident to arrest located a spring-loaded knife in possession of the accused.
Additionally, it was determined that the accused was in violation of a valid undertaking.
As a result of the investigation, a 60-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Fail to Comply with an Undertaking

Incident: 22-48400
Location: Grey Street
On Friday, November 25, 2022, at approximately 8:30 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police were dispatched after receiving a report of a break and enter at a fenced compound located at Grey Street.
Investigation revealed the accused entered the compound and allegedly broke five separate car windows to steal various items located within the vehicles.
Information received indicated the accused was in violation of a valid probation order.
As a result, a 40-year-old man from Brantford, was arrested and stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Break and enter and commit
- Mischief x 5
- Breach Probation
