Type:              Indecent Act
Incident:      22-42722
Location:     Colborne Street

On Sunday, October 16, 2022, at approximately 4:30 P.M. officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend reports of an indecent act that occurred at locations near Colborne Street and Dalhousie Street.

Information was received from a concerned citizen to report that a male was observed masturbating in public at a Colborne Street location and a second call was received to indicate that the same male was observed performing the indecent act at a location near Dalhousie Street and King Street.

Officers attended, located, and arrested the accused.

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 
 Indecent Act - public place x 2 
 Cause Disturbance 

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
 


Type:             Break and Enter
Incident:      22-42697
Location:     Helen Avenue

On Sunday, October 16, 2022, at approximately 5:30 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a break and enter that occurred at a storage unit located on Helen Avenue.

The accused male is alleged to have gained entry to several storage units when he removed various items.

Through investigation, the identity of the accused was determined. He was arrested nearby without incident. The accused was found to be in possession of the items, which was returned to the owners.  

As a result, a 27-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
 Break, enter a place- commit indictable offence 
 Possession of stolen goods under $5000

Incident:     22-42561
Location:     Conklin Crescent and Sky Acres Road

On Saturday, October 15, 2022, at approximately 4:25 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving multiple 911 calls from concerned citizens to advise of a possible impaired driver.

Reports were received to advise that a vehicle had run the lights at Henry Street at West Street and proceeded to hit a utility box at West Street at Galileo Blvd, and another vehicle at Morton Street and West Street, making no attempt to stop. The vehicle had reportedly been driven erratically at dangerously high speeds.

Moments later another call was received to advise that a vehicle was on fire in the area of Conklin Crescent and Sky Acres Road. 

Police arrived on scene to find the vehicle engulfed in flames on the roadway in a residential area.
 
Local residents observing the vehicle fire were directed back to their homes to ensure their safety. Members of the Brantford Fire Department attended and quickly extinguished the blaze.

Witness reports advised that two suspects were observed vacating the vehicle, fleeing the scene on foot, just prior to the fire igniting. 

In an effort to locate the suspects, BPS K-9 track was initiated in the local vicinity. Both suspects were located by police in the rear of a taxi attempting to flee the area.
 
When advised he was under arrest, the accused male, resisted, and spit on the arresting officer.

Information received indicated that the accused was in violation of a valid release order and a valid licence suspension. Additionally, the accused was operating the vehicle without insurance and valid registration as required by law.

When dealing with the accused male, officers observed signs of impairment.

The accused was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over the legal limit.

Search incident to arrest located brass knuckles (a prohibited weapon) in the possession of the accused. 

As a result of this investigation, a 28-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with the following offences: 
 Failure to comply with Judicial Release Order, contrary to the Criminal Code 
• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon- brass knuckles, contrary to the Criminal Code 
 Resist Arrest, contrary to the Criminal Code 
•  Assault Peace officer, contrary to the Criminal Code 
 Failure to stop after accident, contrary to the Criminal Code x 2 
Dangerous Operation, contrary to the Criminal Code 
 Operation while Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to the Criminal Code 
 Operation while Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code 
 Arson by Negligence- contrary to the Criminal Code 
 Drive while under Suspension, contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act 
 Drive Motor Vehicle, no current validation permit, contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act 
 Drive Motor Vehicle in Contravention of condition, contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act 
 Novice driver- BAC above Zero, contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act 
 Owner Operate Motor Vehicle on a highway- No insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act 

The accused has been held for bail.
 


Type:             Stolen Vehicle
Incident:      22-42560
Location:     Colborne Street

On Saturday, October 15, 2022, at approximately 4:05 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a vehicle which had previously been registered as stolen from a neighbouring jurisdiction.

As such, officers blocked the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Clara Crescent and Colborne Street. The driver of the vehicle was arrested without incident.

As a result, a 53-year-old man from Ohsweken stands charged with the following offences: 
•  Possession of Stolen Goods over $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
 Two counts of Use Plate Not Authorized For Motor Vehicle x 2, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Incident:      22-42478
Location: Spalding Drive   
On Friday, October 14, 2022, at approximately 11:50 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of Shellard Lane after receiving a call from a concerned citizen.

Officers attended and located the suspect in the area of Ballantyne Drive and Spalding Drive. A traffic stop was conducted.

Speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of impairment. The accused was then arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.

Both samples provided were over the legal limit.

As a result, a 30-year-old female from Harley stands charged with the following Criminal Code violation: 
 Impaired Operation - Plus 80 

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.

Incident:      22-42008
Location:   Colborne Street

On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at approximately 10:45 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to the area of Colborne Street near Icomm Drive for a report of a suspicious male who appeared to be damaging property. 

Investigation revealed that the accused man had allegedly damaged the windows of several businesses, a vehicle, and the screens of two drive-thru ATM’s.  

Officers attended, located, and arrested the accused man.
Information received indicated the accused was in violation of a valid probation order.

As a result, a 28-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
 Mischief Over $5,000
 Mischief Under $5,000 x 2
 Breach of Probation

Incident:      22-41998
Location:     Sydenham Street 

On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at approximately 9:40 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving a call from a concerned citizen to advise of a possible impaired driver in the area of Sydenham Street, who had hit recycling, garbage containers and a signpost before leaving the scene.

Officers attended and thru investigation, located the suspect vehicle parked nearby and identified the accused driver.

Speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of impairment. 

The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over the legal limit.

As a result, a 27-year-old female from Brantford stands charged with the following:
 Operating a conveyance with over 80 milligrams of alcohol, contrary to the Criminal Code
 Operation while impaired by alcohol-blood alcohol concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code 
 Fail to remain, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act 

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.
 


Type:             Assault
Incident:      22-41941
Location:     Icomm Drive

On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at approximately 3:45 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend the Brantford Skate Park, located at Icomm Drive, in relation to an assault. 

Investigation revealed that a dispute allegedly occurred between two accused individuals and a 16-year-old female victim over the location of their possessions.

During the dispute, the accused male allegedly brandished a knife while verbally confronting the victim. The accused female then physically assaulted the victim.  

Officers attended and located the accused male and female who were arrested at the scene.

EMS attended and treated the victim for minor physical injuries.

As a result, a 38-year-old female stands charged with Assault, contrary to the Criminal Code and a 46-year-old man stands charged with one charge each of Assault and Assault with a Weapon, contrary to the Criminal Code.

Location:     Dalhousie Street

On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at approximately 1:30 P.M. officers on foot patrol in the Downtown core observed a man allegedly smoking fentanyl in the area on Dalhousie Street near Queen Street.

The accused was advised he was under arrest, at which time he resisted. After a short time, the accused was taken into custody.

Information received at the time of arrest indicated that the accused was in violation of a valid probation order. 

As a result, a 32-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following:
 Resist arrest, contrary to the Criminal Code 
 Breach of probation order, contrary to the Criminal Code 
 Possession of substance (fentanyl), contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act



Type:             Impaired
Incident:      22-41834
Location:     Dalhousie Street and Market Street

On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at approximately 12:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a call related to a possible impaired driver in the area of Dalhousie and Market Street.

A concerned citizen called to report they had observed a vehicle travelling the wrong way on Dalhousie Street – a one-way street and had also observed the vehicle hit construction equipment and fail to stop.

Officers attended the area and located a vehicle matching the description provided proceeding westbound on Colborne Street at a high rate of speed.
 
A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was placed under arrest for failure to remain in regard to the accident. The vehicle the accused was driving had front-end damage. 

Speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of impairment and the accused was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.

Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit.

As a result of this investigation, a 37-year-old female from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
 Operation while Impaired
 80 Plus 
 Fail to Stop after Accident 
  Dangerous Operation

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.
