Male Arrested After Incident Involving Replica Handgun

Brantford Police have arrested a 23 year old male after an incident involving a weapon on Colborne Street East.

On Tuesday September 10, 2019 just after 1:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call in the area of Colborne Street and Kiwanis Way.  A 20 year old victim had been at the plaza located at 603 Colborne Street East when he was approached by an unknown male.  The suspect demanded money from the victim and brandished a handgun.  The victim was able to flee the area and police were contacted.  Community Patrol Officers attended the area where they located and arrested the accused without incident.  A replica handgun (BB Gun) was recovered.  The victim was not physically injured as a result of the incident.

A high school located nearby was temporarily placed in hold and secure while the investigation was conducted, it however was lifted shortly afterwards.  A Brantford Police Service High School Resource Officer is at the school, assisting staff and students.

As a result of the investigation a 23 year old Brantford male has been arrested and is facing a number of Criminal Code Charges.
