Male Arrested in Isaiah Castillo Homicide

As a result of the continued investigation into the Wednesday, April 14, 2021 homicide of 20-year-old Isaiah Castillo, investigators with the Brantford Police Service have charged Taylor Brian PASCO, a 25 year-old male from Stoney Creek. 

The accused is facing charges of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and several firearms offences. The arrest took place during the evening of Wednesday, May 19, 2021 without incident.  Members of the Brantford Police Service Emergency Response Team subsequently executed a search warrant at a residence in the City of Hamilton for additional evidence.

The accused was held in police custody and will appear before the court on Thursday, May 20, 2021

Now that charges are before the courts, investigators will not discuss evidence as it pertains to the case.

Youth Arrested in Isaiah Castillo Homicide

As a result of the continued investigation into the Wednesday, April 14, 2021 homicide of 20-year-old Isaiah Castillo, investigators with the Brantford Police Service have charged a 17-year-old youth, who cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

The youth is facing charges of First Degree Murder along with a variety of firearm related offences and breach of court orders.  The arrest took place during the afternoon on Thursday, May 6, 2021 without incident. The accused was held in police custody and will appear before the court on Friday, May 7, 2021

 

Now that charges are before the courts, investigators will not discuss evidence as it pertains to the case.

The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the shooting death of 20-year-old Isaiah Castillo that occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 14, 2021.

 Investigators would like to speak to anyone that was driving in the area of Blackburn Drive and Dianna Avenue from 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 until 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.

April 16, 2021 - UPDATE

 

The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the shooting death of a 20-year-old male that occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 14, 2021.

 

With permission from the family, the victim has been identified as Brantford resident, Isaiah Castillo. Castillo was shot while inside a residence on Diana Avenue in what police believe to be a targeted incident.

Members of the Brantford Police Service Forensic Identification Unit remain on scene at the residence, while detectives are continuing to canvass the neighbourhood around Diana Avenue for potential witnesses and video.

There have yet to be any arrests made in the case.

Police continue to appeal for anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the neighbourhood between the hours of 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2021 and 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 to contact Sergeant Charles Wheeler or Detective Jason Sinning at 519-756-7050. April 14, 2021 – ORIGINAL RELEASE

 

Shortly after 12:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, members of the Brantford Police patrol section responded alongside EMS personnel to a Diana Avenue residence in the West Brant area of the City of Brantford after receiving reports of a male with gunshot injuries. Upon arrival, a 20-year-old male was located in serious condition.

  The victim was transported to a hospital trauma center however; he did succumb to his injuries shortly     

  thereafter. This incident is being investigated as a homicide.

 

Police anticipate being on scene in the Diana Avenue area throughout the day.
