Update - Brantford Police Investigate a Home Invasion

Update

Brantford Police Service have charged two males and are looking for a third suspect that were involved in a Home Invasion Robbery last night. 

On Monday October 7, 2019 at approximately 9:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a residence on Sarah Street, Brantford.  Three people had broken into the residence and were armed with firearms.  Four people were in their residence at the time and one victim was assaulted.  Three suspects fled the scene on foot.  Community Patrol Officers with the assistance of Woodstock Police K9 Unit attended to the area where they located the victims.  One victim was treated by Emergency Medical Services for minor injuries.  Officers and Police K9 conducted a search and a track of the area where they were able to locate and arrest two suspects without incident.  The two accused were located hiding on nearby properties a short distance away.  A third suspect is still outstanding.

Gunshots were fired outside the residence by the accused as they were fleeing the area.  

This is not believed to be a random act of violence. 

On Tuesday October 8, 2019 Brantford Police Service with the assistance of Guelph Police Service K9 conducted a ground search and located two firearms a short distance away from the residence. 

 

 As a result of the investigation two males have been charged and are facing numerous Criminal Code Offences. 

Accused #1 – Gideon BONSU a 26 y.o male from Brampton

Robbery S.344 1(b) CC

Assault with a weapon S.267(a) CC

Careless use of a firearm S.86(1) CC

Pointing a firearm S.87(1) CC

Discharging firearm- Recklessness S. 244.2(1)(b) CC

Possession of weapons dangerous S.88 CC


Accused #2 – Terence WATSON a 33 y.o. male from Mississauga

Robbery S.344 1(b) CC

Assault with a weapon S.267(a) CC

Careless use of a firearm S.86(1) CC

Pointing a firearm S.87(1) CC

Discharging firearm- Recklessness S. 244.2(1)(b) CC

Possession of weapons dangerous S.88 CC

Breach of Recognizance.  S.145(3) CC

Possession contrary to court order S. 117.01(1) CC

Accused #3 – outstanding


The BPS Major Crime Unit with the assistance of the Task Force is continuing to investigate this incident.  Anyone with information or anyone who may have home security video footage in the area is asked to contact police or contact Det.
