Suspicious Person Investigation

Update

On Wednesday May 2, 2018 Brantford Police Service investigated a suspicious person incident in the area of Tutela Heights Road.  Community Patrol Officers canvassed the area and were able to locate the child and her grandfather.

It has been determined that there was no threat or danger to the public or the parties involved.  The Brantford Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in this investigation.

Brantford police are asking for the public?s assisting involving a suspicious incident that occurred in the area of Tutela Heights Rd.

On Wednesday May 2, 2018 around 4:00 pm, an unknown male was observed walking in the area of Tutela Heights Rd with a child who was wearing very little clothing.   The child did not appear to be in distress. 

Police are continuing to investigate this incident.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Andrew Balog of the Brantford Police Service at 519-756-0113 ext. 2266

Brantford Police Investigate Stabbing

On May 1, 2018 just after 7:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service attended to the area of  Dunsdon Street and Brantwood Park Road in response to an incident where a 19 year old male had been stabbed.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the victim.  An unknown suspect had fled the area prior to police arrival.  The victim was transported to hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition.
The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit continues their investigation and are seeking any witnesses that were in the area at the time of the incident.

Type:  Break and Enter - Residential
Incident: 18-16042
Location: Mt Pleasant Street
Incident:  On Tuesday May 1, 2018 just before 1:30 p.m. Community Patrol Officers were conducting an investigation on Mt Pleasant Street.  Officers observed two males in a fenced area of a residence who gathered tools and other property and began to walk away.  The owner of the property was just arriving home and confronted the two males.  Officers attended to the location and spoke to all parties involved.  Investigation revealed that the two males had entered into the residence and fenced area of the property, the residence was rummaged through and items were taken.  The two males were arrested at the scene without incident.  Further investigation revealed that both accused were currently bound by court orders with conditions.  The one accused was also found to be in possession of crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine.  As a result of the investigation Shawn Joseph BIEHN a 30 year old Brantford male is charged with Break and Enter and Commit and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code. He is also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance x2 (0.69 grams crystal methamphetamine - value $65.00 and 0.56 grams crack cocaine $50.00) under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  Bradley Joseph HALL a 35 year old Brantford male is charged with Break and Enter and Commit and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code. Both accused were held for a bail hearing.

Location: Rawdon Street     
Incident: On Tuesday May 1, 2018 just after 5:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a residence on Rawdon Street.  The victim reported that an unknown female had just spray painted the side of their house and had fled down the street when confronted.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they locate the accused a short distance away.  The accused was arrested without incident.  A 54 year old Brantford woman is charged with Mischief to Property Under $5000.00.

Location: Egerton Street    
Incident:  On Tuesday May 1, 2018 just before 7:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a Break and Enter to a residence on Egerton Street.  The resident had just returned home after being out for only a short time and discovered the rear door was open.  Community Patrol Officers attended and checked the residence.  Investigation revealed that a screen had been removed from a rear window which was then pried open to gain entry.  At the time of the report it was unknown what was taken.

Student Charged After Bringing A BB-Gun On School Bus

On Tuesday May 1, 2018 just after 8:00 a.m. the Brantford Police Service received information from a concerned citizen that an unknown male student had been seen with a BB Gun in the area of Clarence Street and Sheridan Street.  The student was then seen getting onto a school bus and leaving the area.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the school bus.  Officers were able to locate the youth that had been in possession of the BB-Gun.   It was determined that there was no threat to the safety of or injuries to the driver or students.   The driver and other students were able to carry on to their respective schools.  An 18 year old Brantford male is charged with Possession of a Weapon - Dangerous to the Public Peace. 

The Brantford Police Service has determined that there was no threat made by the accused to any other student, school or member of the public.  The Brantford Police Service would like to remind people of the dangers of owning replicas firearms such as Pellet Guns, BB Guns, Airsoft Guns and Paint Ball Guns.  These replica firearms can easily be mistaken for a real firearm until proven otherwise.  If you chose to own one of these items, please remember to use them responsibly and in a safe manner.

Type:  Break and Enter - Commercial
Incident: 18-15841
Location: Mary Street
Incident:  On Monday April 30, 2018 Brantford Police Service received a report of a Break and Enter to a business on Mary Street.  Sometime overnight unknown person(s) entered into a secure compound on Mary Street.  Reported taken was an amount of copper wire.

Location: Colborne Street East    
Incident: On Monday April 30, 2018 just before 4:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from employees at a business on Colborne Street.  An unknown male and female had been in the store and gathered a number of items concealing them in reusable shopping bags.  The male left the store first without making any attempts to pay for the items in the shopping bags.  The male was stopped by an employee who then fled the scene.  The female then attempted to leave and was detained until police arrived.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area and checked for the suspect male.  Officers attended to the store where they spoke to the female.  Upon speaking to the female she provided false information.  Investigation revealed that she was currently wanted on outstanding warrants from another jurisdiction and was bound by a court order with conditions.  A 31 year old Ohsweken female is charged with Theft Under $5000.00, Obstruct Peace Officer and Breach of Probation.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Location: Chatham Street    
Incident: On Tuesday May 1, 2018 just before 1:30 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a call from a resident on Chatham Street.  The caller advised that her son had returned home and they had gotten into a verbal argument.  During the argument the accused began to damage property and caused damaged to the walls of the residence.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the residence where they located the accused who was arrested without incident.  A 17 year old Brantford male is charged with Mischief to Property Under $5000.00.

Incident: 18-15835
Location: Colborne Street 
Incident: On Monday April 30, 2018 just before 7:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers were investigating an incident at a Colborne Street address.  During the investigation an unknown female was seen climbing out a rear window to the residence.  Upon speaking to Officers the female provided false information.  Investigation revealed that the female was bound by court orders with conditions.  The female was not abiding by the conditions of those orders.  Further investigation revealed that the female was in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine 0.2 grams (approx. $25.00 street value).  A 22 year old Brantford female is charged with Obstruct Pace Officer, Breach of Probation and Breach of Recognizance Order under the Criminal Code.  She was further charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.
