Brantford Police Continue to Investigate Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

The Brantford Police Service Traffic Unit continues to investigate the death of a
male as a result of a motor vehicle collision.
On Saturday November 24, 2018 just before 3:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service
responded to a single vehicle collision on Spalding Drive at Ballantyne Drive. As a result
of the collision, the driver Dakota Liam Miller a 23 year old Brantford resident
succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced at the scene.
The BPS Traffic Unit continues to investigate this incident and is asking any witnesses or
anyone with information to please contact Cst. J. Morton at 519-756-0113 ext. 2869.

A 23-year-old Brantford man has died in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning.
Brantford Police, fire and paramedics were dispatched to Spalding Drive at Ballantyne
Drive at about 2:55 a.m., and found two male occupants in the vehicle.
Police say an adult male passenger was treated at Brantford General Hospital for minor
injuries, and later released.
The other male succumbed to injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Names of the accident victims have not yet been released pending notification of next of
kin.
Police are asking anyone who may have information to assist with the investigation, to

Two Year Anniversary of Jeffrey Roberts Homicide
On November 11, 2016 Jeffrey Roberts was reported missing after he had not been seen or heard from since November 5, 2016. On November 21, 2016 he was found deceased by a citizen who located his body in a field near the West Street/Highway 403 overpass, Brantford. An investigation was conducted and his death was ruled a homicide.
Jeffery Roberts had strong roots in this community coming from a large family and a strong group of friends. The Roberts family and friends continue to mourn his death and seek closure in regards to this tragedy.
Brantford Police appreciate the support they have received from the public but continue to urge them to come forward with any and all information they may have.

Crime Brief - November 20, 2018
Type: Disturbance
Incident: 18-45989
Location: East Ave
Incident: On Monday November 19, 2018 just after 9:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a disturbance at a residence on East Ave. The accused had been at home when his roommate and victim returned to the residence. An argument started between the accused and the victim which turned physical. During the altercation the accused picked up a hammer and swung it at the victim. Community Patrol Officers attended and located the parties involved. The accused was arrested without incident. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result of the incident. A 47 year old Brantford male is charged with Assault with a Weapon and Breach of Probation.

Location: Dalhousie Street
Incident: On Tuesday November 20, 2018 just before 1:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle travelling on Murray Street that failed to stop at a controlled intersection. Officers then observed the vehicle turn and go the wrong way down a one way street. Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the female driver who showed signs of impairment. The driver was issued a demand for a roadside screening device. The driver provided a sample and registered a fail. The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where she was to provide samples of her breath as required by law. The accused’s readings were over the legal limit. A 31 year old Princeton woman has been charged with Operate Motor Vehicle – Over 80. The accused drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location: Lynden Road
Incident: On Monday November 19, 2018 just before 11:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a business on Lynden Road. An unknown male had been in the store and stole a pair of wireless headphones and fled from the store without making any attempts to pay. Community Patrol Officers attended to and searched the area for the male. Officers were able to locate and arrested the male without incident. While dealing with the male he was found to be in possession of other stolen property from businesses in the area. The stolen property was recovered and returned. A 26 year old Brantford male has been charged with Theft Under $5000 x4 and Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.

Suspicious Vehicle for Identification
Brantford Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspicious vehicle.
On November 9, 2018 at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the area of Westchester Way and Oriole Parkway a 13 year old female was waved down by two unknown males who were operating an older model Black SUV. The vehicle left the area when the female refused to come over to the vehicle and pulled out her cell phone. The vehicle is described as an older model black SUV, possibly a Ford Escape with tinted windows. The rear hatch has two stickers, one on each side of the licence plate area.
Variety Store Robbery

On Friday November 16, 2018, shortly after 5:20 a.m., a lone male entered a variety store on Colborne Street West in Brantford brandishing a knife. The man demanded cash and cigarettes from the male clerk.
The male left the scene after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes from the clerk and was last seen in the area of Colborne Street West and Mt Pleasant St in Brantford. The clerk was not injured during this incident.
SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: The male was approximately 6’0” with a black balaclava covering his entire face. The male was wearing a black coloured sweater with white print on the front "Vans Off the Wall" skateboard logo and camouflaged pants.

Three Males Charged With Firearm Offences

Brantford Police have arrested and charged three males with firearm related offences after an investigation at an address on Wellington Street.
On Wednesday November 7, 2018 just after 7:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a disturbance at an address of Wellington Street. Community Patrol Officers attended to the address where they were advised that the parties inside were in possession of firearms. Officers were able to safely investigate the incident and arrested three males that were found in the residence. Officers conducted a search of the residence where they located two firearms. A loaded 40 caliber semi-automatic and a loaded 45 caliber semi-automatic handguns were located and seized.
Accused #1 Ohaje Taitt a 22 year old male from Brantford is charged with Possession of Firearm/Weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order, Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Firearm/Ammunition, Careless Use of Firearm/Weapon/Ammunition, Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Careless Use of a Firearm/Weapon/Ammunition and Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition.
Accused #2 Jahquon Fagan a 22 year old male from Brampton is charged with Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, Careless Use of a Firearm/Weapon/Ammunition, Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Careless Use of a Firearm/Weapon/Ammunition and Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition.
Accused #3 Akeem Richards a 21 year old male from Brantford who provided false information during the investigation is charged with Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, Careless Use of a Firearm/Weapon/Ammunition, Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Careless Use of a Firearm/Weapon/Ammunition, Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, Obstruct Peace Officer and Fail to Comply with Recognizance x2 under the Criminal Code

Search Continues For Fisherman Seen In The Grand River

The Brantford Police Service, Brant County OPP, OPP Underwater Search and Recovery
Unit along with an OPP Helicopter remained in the area and on the Grand River today
and have continued to search for the male that was seen in distress. The search efforts
will be called off for today, however the investigation remains open and will be re-
evaluated on an ongoing basis.
Brantford Police Service is appealing to the public for any information on a fisherman
that was seen struggling in the water just after 12:00 PM on Sunday November 4, 2018
near Erie Avenue, in Brantford, Ontario.
The fisherman is described is a white male, with grey hair approximately 50 years of age.
He was last seen wearing a toque and "Lumber” style jacket.
Brantford Police Service has not received a missing person’s report involving a male, as
described above.
If you or anyone you know has recently fallen into the Grand River near Erie Avenue
while fishing, please notify the Brantford Police Service.
Any witnesses or other persons with information are asked to immediately contact the
