Brantford Police are investigating the death of a 37 year old male as a Homicide

The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit is continuing to investigate an incident at a William Street address as a homicide. 

On Friday April 5, 2019 just after 11:30 p.m. the Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about an assault and possible shooting at an address on William St.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the scene where they found a male who was suffering from  a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  The victim has been identified as Gerald Robert Male, a 37 year old resident of Brantford.  A second male in a distraught state was located at the residence.  This male has spoken with police and is not a suspect.     

The Major Crime Unit is investigating this incident.  Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Kevin Cabral at 519-756-0113 ext. 2206.

On April 5, 2019 at approximately 11:30pm the Brantford Police responded to a report of a male that had been assaulted. Officers attended an address on William Street and located a male suffering from serious injuries. The male was transported to the Brantford General Hospital without vital signs and has since been pronounced dead. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The Brantford Police Service are investigating this as a homicide and no further information will be released at this time.

Homicide Investigation

On April 5, 2019 at approximately 11:30pm the Brantford Police responded to a report of a male that had been assaulted. Officers attended an address on William Street and located a male suffering from serious injuries. The male was transported to the Brantford General Hospital without vital signs and has since been pronounced dead. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The Brantford Police Service are investigating this as a homicide and no further information will be released at this time.

Brantford Male Faces Criminal Charges After Collision Investigation

On March 25, 2019 the Brantford Police Service Traffic Unit investigated a serious motor vehicle collision which involved two pedestrians that had been struck at the intersection of Colborne Street and Clarence Street.

Officers attended to the scene along with Brantford Fire and Brant/Brantford Paramedics.  Two 20 year old females had been struck by a pick-up truck and suffered serious injuries.  They were transported to hospital where they were treated for serious injuries.  The driver of the motor vehicle was not injured in the collision.

As a result of the investigation a 47 year old Brantford male has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily harm x2 and Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm x2 under the Criminal Code.

On March 25, 2019 at approximately 8:07am, members of the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a serious motor vehicle collision involving 2 pedestrians having been struck in the area of Colborne Street at Clarence Street. Members of Brantford Fire and Brant/Brantford paramedics also attended to assist with the injured parties.

Preliminary investigation suggests two 20 year old females were struck by a pick- up truck at this location.  Both females were transported to Hamilton General Hospital where they remain with serious injuries.  The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured.

The area of Colborne Street and Clarence Street will remain closed for most of the afternoon while investigators from the Collision Reconstruction Unit continue their investigation. 

Several witnesses came forth at the scene, however, the Brantford Police Traffic Unit would like to speak with anyone that has further information regarding this incident. Witnesses are encouraged to contact Constable Jeremy Morton at 519-756-0113

Male Safely and Successfully Arrested after Police Investigation

The Brantford Police Service is continuing to investigate into the incident that occurred at an address on Market Street.

On April 3, 2019 just before 2:00 p.m. Police safely and successfully made contact with the male inside his residence. The male has been arrested and is facing criminal charges of Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (knife). The accused is being transported for precautionary reasons for medical assessment.

The Brantford Police Service will remain at the scene as we continue to conduct this investigation. We would like to thank the Waterloo Regional Police Service for their assistance in s successful conclusion to this incident. We would also like to thank the public for their cooperation during this investigation.

Ongoing Police Investigation- UPDATE

The Brantford Police are involved in an ongoing investigation in the area of Market Street and Grey Street.  Police are dealing with a person in distress and there is no threat to public safety.  Due to the situation, police are asking people to avoid the area if possible.  Waterloo Regional Police Service are assisting Brantford with this investigation.  

Brantford Police Service were contacted April 2, 2019 in the afternoon by a person who was threatened by a 36 year old Brantford male.

Brantford Police Service attended a dwelling in the 200 block of Market St. where the suspect male barricaded himself inside of a room.  Brantford Police Service officers de-escalated the situation by setting up containment, and negotiating with the male.

Containment and negotiation has continued since the early evening hours of April 2, 2019.  Brantford Police Service has received assistance from Waterloo Regional Police Service, who are relieving Brantford Police Service Emergency Response Team officers, who had been deployed since the containment commenced.

Brantford Police Service would like to remind the public not to attend in the area of Market Street at Grey Street.  Further, this incident is isolated, and there is no threat to public safety.

All efforts are being made to conclude this incident safely.

The Brantford Police are involved in an ongoing investigation in the area of Market Street and Grey Street.  Police are dealing with a person in distress and there is no threat to public safety. Due to the situation, police are asking people to avoid the area if possible.  Waterloo Regional Police Service are assisting Brantford with this investigation.
