Two Brantford Men Facing Firearms Charges

On Thursday, November 5, 2020 at approximately 1:00 p.m. Brantford Police received a report to advise of an armed male attending a hotel in the area of King George Road and Wood Street.  

Officers attended to secure the area and evacuate the hotel. Working in conjunction with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board, a decision was made to place nearby St Pius X School on Wood Street into hold and secure as a precautionary measure. 

At approximately 2:20 p.m. officers located two suspects inside the hotel. The two suspects were arrested and are facing the following charges:  

Suspect #1 – a 32-year-old male from Brantford is charged with: 
  • Possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Weapons dangerous to the public peace
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Fail to comply with an order
Suspect #2  –  a 34-year-old male from Brantford is charged with:
  • Possession of a firearm 
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited
  • Careless storage of a firearm 
  • Weapons dangerous to the public peace
  • Carrying a concealed weapon

Tainted Halloween Candy Reported

Incident # 20-42873 and 20-42984

The Brantford Police Service received a report from a citizen to advise that on Saturday, October 31, 2020 Halloween candy, which was collected in the Brier Park area, was reported to have been found with a needle inserted into a piece of candy.
 
An additional report has been received from a citizen to advise that a razor blade was reported to be found in a chocolate bar after Trick-or-Treating in Eagle Place. 
 
The Branford Police Service is asking that the community be made aware of these incidents and are reminding parents and caregivers to thoroughly check candy collected from Trick-or-Treating prior to consumption, and discard any items which are open and appear suspicious.
 
The Brantford Police Service is continuing to investigate these incidents and would ask anyone with information to please contact the Brantford Police Service at 519-756-7050.
