On Monday, June 14, 2021
at approximately 11:38 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were
dispatched to attend an assault call at a location on Stanley Street.
A male was observed
urinating at the side of the building and was confronted by a female victim.
During the confrontation, the female victim was assaulted, receiving minor
injuries.
As a result of the
investigation, a 24-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with Assault
in accordance with the Criminal Code.

Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a resident called 9-1-1 to
report a male in a vehicle struck her George Street residence.
Arriving on scene, officers observed a vehicle which had sustained severe damage and a male who identified himself as the driver of the vehicle.
Speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.
Significant damage to both the residence and fence were observed to have occurred as a result of the collision.
Officers observed signs of intoxication and the accused was placed under arrest for impaired operation contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was then transported in order to provide breath samples as required by law. Both samples of breath provided by the accused were in excess of twice times the legal limit.
Arriving on scene, officers observed a vehicle which had sustained severe damage and a male who identified himself as the driver of the vehicle.
Speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.

On Wednesday, June 16,
2021 at approximately 1:52 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service
responded to reports of a motor vehicle having been observed driving in a
dangerous and erratic manner before colliding with a hydro pole on Murray
Street.
After arriving on
scene, officers located a male, unconscious and unresponsive, in the driver
seat. Officers believed the accused was suffering from a stimulant overdose.
Approximately four (4)
grams of suspected opiates were located in the vehicle.
The accused was
transported to hospital where he regained consciousness after being
administered Naloxone.
As a result of this investigation the accused,
a 34-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with:

On Wednesday, June 16,
2021, at approximately 10:32 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service
responded to reports a motor vehicle collision had occurred at the intersection
of Kiwanis Way and Colborne Street.
Officers
attended and observed signs of impairment when speaking with one of the
individuals.
The accused was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples were in excess of the legal limit.
As a result of this investigation, a 52-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with:

2021 at approximately 8:12 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service
received a call to attend a residence on Buffalo Street in regards to an
unwanted person.
The investigation
revealed that a male damaged a shed and was located sleeping on the property.
As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old
male from Brantford, stands charged with:

On Friday June 18, 2021 at approximately 4:45 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend reports of a suspicious male at a residential complex on Galileo Boulevard.
Investigation revealed that the accused attempted to steal several bicycles from two separate residences however, was confronted by witnesses and was unsuccessful in stealing the bicycles.
Officers attended the location and, as a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with two (2) counts of theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code.

Saturday, June 19, 2021 at approximately 6:56 p.m., the Brantford Police
Service received a report that a male had kicked in a window at a location on
Market Street and had since fled the scene.
At
approximately 6:59 p.m., officers arrived on scene and observed a male matching
the description provided by a witness. Property damage was confirmed and the
suspect, a 25-year-old male from Brantford, was placed under arrest for
Mischief Under $5000. The accused was held for bail.

On Saturday, June 19,
2021, at approximately 11:41 p.m., officers of the Brantford Police Service
were dispatched to attend reports of a male creating a disturbance within a
Dalhousie Street restaurant.
The accused male was located by officers, just
outside of the premise being held by a restaurant employee. As police
approached, the male was yelling and screaming towards the employees. Witnesses
advised police that the accused was yelling, shouting and swearing within the
restaurant, and also began to toss tables within.
The accused male was
found to be bound by a valid Probation Order.
As
a result of the investigation a 37-year-old male from Brantford stands charged
with the following Criminal Code violations:

On Sunday, June 20, 2021 at approximately 1:00
p.m., officers with the Brantford Police were dispatched to attend a retail
location located on Fairview Drive where a male was reported to have stolen a
framed sports memorabilia photo being auctioned for charity.
A witness observed the suspect stealing the
framed photo and leaving the scene on a bicycle.
The witness, a concerned citizen, contacted
police and then followed the suspect in her vehicle along Wayne Gretzky Parkway
in order to advise police of his location.
Officers attended, and at approximately 1:14
p.m., recovered the charity item and placed the accused under arrest.
As
a result, a 37-year-old male from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal
Code violations:

On Monday, June 21, 2021 at approximately 1:09
a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a
report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Colborne Street West.
An employee at a gas bar, located on Colborne
Street West, contacted police after observing possible signs of impairment when
a male driver stopped to obtain gas for his vehicle.
Officers attended and located the suspect
vehicle travelling westbound on Dufferin Avenue at Lorne Crescent. A traffic
stop occurred and, when speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of
impairment. An open alcoholic beverage and marijuana was observed within reach
of the driver.
The
accused was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both
samples were in excess of the legal limit.
As a result of this investigation a 20-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

Location: Twelfth Avenue
On Tuesday June 22,
2021 at approximately 12:37 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service
responded to a report from a resident that an unknown male was observed in the
backyard of her property on Twelfth Avenue and had broken into the shed.
Officers located a male matching the suspect description at Darling
Street and Stanley Street.
Through
investigation it was revealed that the suspect had entered the resident’s shed
and when confronted he fled on foot. The backyard fence was observed to have
been damaged.
The accused was arrested for Break and Enter and Commit.
Search incident to
arrest revealed the accused to be in possession of five (5) break and enter
instruments. The accused was also found to be in possession of a needle
containing suspected fentanyl.
Information received indicated that the accused is also bound by
fourteen (14) Release Orders.
As a result of the
investigation, Richard Allan CARPENTER, 34, of Brantford, was held for bail and
stands charged with:

Thursday, June 24, 2021, at approximately 7:48 a.m., officers attended the area
of Burnley Avenue and Terrace Hill in response to reports of vandalism.
Six vehicles parked on Burnley Avenue were reported to have been been vandalized with orange spray paint overnight. Photos of two vehicles are attached.
Witnesses observed a male wearing a purple hat travelling on foot, spray painting a transit bench at Terrace Hill Street and West Street. Additional suspect description is not available.

On Thursday, June 24,
2021 at approximately 2:42 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service
responded to a report of a male with a knife involved in a foot chase after a
verbal altercation with another male on Market Street.
Officers attended and
located the suspect. The accused was in possession of a large butcher style
knife as well as two smaller knives.
Police were able to
identify the 32-year-old male victim, who did not have any injuries on his
person and was uncooperative with Police.

On Thursday, June 24,
2021 at approximately 5:11 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service
responded to a location on Park Avenue after receiving reports a package had
been stolen from the front porch of a residence.
Two men were observed
travelling on foot on Park Avenue where they stole a package from the front
porch of a residence and were confronted by the victim.
After being confronted,
one of the accused brandished a knife and the two co-accused then fled on foot.
The package was discarded and has not been recovered.
Officers attended and
located the suspects. Search incident to arrest found one of the accused to be
in possession of identification and banking documents which were previously
reported stolen.
The co-accused were identified and arrested.
The first accused was found to be in violation of a valid Judicial Release
Order as well as a valid Probation Order. The second accused was found to be in
violation of a valid Undertaking and in breach of a valid Probation Order.
As a result of the investigation, the
first accused, Brandon Michael PERRY, 31, of Brantford, stands charged with the
following Criminal Code violations:
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Possession of Identity documents
- Breach of Probation
- Fail to comply with Judicial Release Order
The second accused, Jordan Kyle JENNINGS,
29 of Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

–The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in a joint investigation with Brantford
Police Service, entitled "Project Grantham” under the direction of the OPP
Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), have arrested and charged seven additional
individuals in connection with two homicides. Both homicides occurred in the
City of Brantford in July 2019.
"Project Grantham,” a collaborative and cooperative investigative initiative, was created in response to the homicides of Coby "Kareem” CARTER, 22 years old, of Hamilton, Ontario, Dorothy Lynn VANEVERY, 62 years old, and Larry REYNOLDS, 64 years old, both of Brantford, Ontario.
On July 8, 2019, officers responded to a Colborne Street West address in the City of Brantford, and located a deceased male. On July 18, 2019, police responded to an address on Park Road South, in the City of Brantford, and located a deceased male and a deceased female.
Throughout the investigation, "Project Grantham” uncovered vital information involving all three homicides. As a result, the Brantford Police Service and OPP arrested and charged Abdelaziz Faiz IBRAHIM, 24 years old, of Hamilton, Ontario with First Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code in connection with the death of Coby "Kareem” CARTER.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Brantford at a later date.
The following individuals named below are each charged with two counts of First-Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code, and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, contrary to Section 465 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code in the deaths of Lynn VANEVERY and Larry REYNOLDS:

All individuals remain in custody.
Investigators have determined that neither Lynn VANEVERY nor Larry REYNOLDS were the perpetrators’ intended target.

Thursday, June 17, 2021 at approximately 7:49 p.m., a vehicle, driven by an
unknown suspect, was observed vandalizing the recently installed Pride
crosswalk located at Colborne Street and Market Street.
The suspect vehicle is a white Chevrolet Silverado Z71 with a black truck bed toolbox.

On Friday, June 12, 2021 at approximately 3:50 p.m., officers with the
Brantford Police Service responded to a report of a male who was in possession
of a firearm, riding a bicycle near Colborne Street and Alfred Street.
Officers attended the area and located the suspect male at the
intersection of Park Avenue and Dalhousie Street.
The male was riding a bicycle while carrying a long, covered object,
which was determined by officers to be a rifle. The suspect was placed under
arrest.
At the time of the offence, the accused was bound by six firearms
prohibitions and a valid probation order.
As a result of the
investigation, Bernard Winston NOEL, 41, of Brantford, stands charged with the
following Criminal Code offences:
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon

On Sunday, June 13, 2021, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Brantford Police were contacted by a concerned citizen to advise a motor vehicle had struck a traffic light at Colborne Street and Forest Road.
Officers arrived on
scene and as they were speaking with the driver, observed the driver drop a
small bag of suspected cocaine on the ground. As a result, the accused was
placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled
Drugs and Substances Act.
Officers observed signs
of intoxication and continued the arrest for impaired operation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was then transported
in order to provide breath samples as required by law. Both samples of breath
provided by the accused were in excess of three times the legal limit.
As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old
male from Brampton stands charged with:

On Monday, June 14, 2021, at approximately 9:50 a.m., officers with the
Brantford Police Service observed suspicious behaviour occurring around a
vehicle located in a parking lot on Colborne Street East.
Upon investigation, the driver of the vehicle was determined to be a
suspended driver, bound by three separate driving prohibitions. Additionally,
the driver was determined to be bound by two separate release orders.
The accused was subsequently arrested without incident for violation of
these orders.
Further
investigation revealed the accused to be in possession of the following:
- 86.95 grams (approx.) of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $34,780
- 230.76 grams (approx.) of suspected crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $46,152
- 149.04 grams (approx.) of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $14,904
- Digital scale, cellphone and drug packaging paraphernalia
- Canadian currency
- Tipped arrows and shotgun ammunition

On Tuesday, June 14, 2021, at approximately 11:04 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend the area of Glenwood Drive and Locks Road as multiple 9-1-1 calls for service were received regarding a male jumping fences, going through backyards and attempting to gain entry into motor vehicles.
Upon arriving in the
area, officers observed a male matching the description jumping a residential
fence.
The male was identified
and arrested as the accused was found to be in violation of a valid Judicial
Release Order as well as a valid Probation Order.
As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old
male from Cambridge subsequently stands charged with:
- Failure to Comply with Judicial Release Order
- Breach of Probation

On Monday, June 14,
2021, Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call to advise of a male in
possession of a conducted energy weapon at a motel on Colborne Street East.
Officers attended the
scene and located the accused who was arrested for unauthorized possession of a
weapon (conducted energy weapon).
At the time of the
incident, the accused was determined to be bound by a release order with the
condition to not possess any weapon(s).
As a result of this investigation,
Donovan Cyril HENRY-KEEPING, 21, of Brantford stands accused of the following:

- Failure to comply with Release Order

BPS have charged a 28 year old female from Brantford with 2nd Degree Murder.

The Brantford Police have arrested and charged a female in connection with the homicide of 37-year-old, Shannon Yvonne MACDOUGALL.
Christine BIRT, 28, of Brantford, has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder.
On March 11, 2020, the Brantford Police Service attended Shannon MACDOUGALL’s address on Mintern Avenue to check on her wellbeing. MACDOUGALL was pronounced deceased inside the residence. Members of the Brantford Police Service Criminal Investigation Section and Forensic Identification Section attended the scene and immediately entered into a suspicious death investigation. A post-mortem examination occurred in the days that followed and the investigation into the circumstances and manner of death continued.
Police do not believe this to be a random incident.
Now that charges are before the courts, investigators will not discuss evidence as it pertains to the case.
Brantford Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in providing information related to this homicide.

Traffic Stop Results in Firearms and Drug Charges
On Saturday, June 12, 2021 at approximately 6:18 a.m., patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a motor vehicle fail to stop at a 3-way Stop sign at the intersection of West Street and Grey Street.
The motor vehicle was then observed travelling southbound on West Street in the northbound lane while swerving.
A traffic stop was conducted at West Street and Pearl Street.
While speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of possible intoxication and an open container of alcohol within reach.
At this time, the male passenger proceeded to exit from the motor vehicle, pushed past the officer and fled on foot.
Police gave chase and quickly caught up with the male suspect, who assaulted police and attempted to flee the scene again. A short distance later, officers caught the suspect, who again, assaulted police, attempting to flee. Officers arrested the suspect male at approximately 6:25 a.m.
A search incident to arrest of the male revealed the following on his person:
- A prohibited firearm (loaded and concealed)
- Approximately 4.70 grams of suspected Fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $1,175
- Approximately 3.20 grams of suspected Crack Cocaine, with an estimated street value of $320
- Approximately 0.6 grams of suspected Cocaine, with an estimated street value of $60
- Canadian currency
Upon arrest, the suspect male provided a false identity to police.
As a result of the investigation, Darren James BUTLER, 18, of Ohsweken, stands charged with the following:
- Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code
- Assault Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code
- Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest contrary to the Criminal Code
- Transferring firearm without authority contrary to the Criminal Code
- Careless storage of firearm contrary to the Criminal Code

- Unauthorized possession of firearm contrary to the Criminal Code

Animal in Distress Call Results in Charges

On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, members of the Brantford Police Service attended a residence on D’Aubigny Road after receiving a report of an animal in distress.
Arriving on scene, officers observed a dog in distress within the residence. This animal was determined to be in need of immediate assistance, which officers provided.
Within the residence, officers located 23 dogs, three cats and a deceased cat. The Brant County SPCA were contacted and attended. As the animals were uncared for, they have been removed from the residence and are in the care of the Brant County SPCA.
This investigation is ongoing. Officers from Brantford Police Service are currently working in conjunction with the Brant County SPCA, City of Brantford Property Standards Department and the Brant County Health Unit. Further updates will be provided once available.
Two Brantford residents, a 45-year-old male and an 18-year-old female were arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Causing unnecessary suffering to animals
- Cause damage or injury to animals

ARRESTED - Wanted male: Corey Landon Lee HESS

On June 7, 2021, members of the Brantford Police Service located wanted party, Corey Landon Lee HESS at a residence on Albemarle Street, Brantford. As a result, officers with the Brantford Police Service Emergency Response Team responded to assist with the arrest.
In the interest of public safety, a perimeter was set up, and several nearby residents were temporarily evacuated from their homes while a warrant was obtained. We would like to thank the public and nearby residence for their patience and cooperation during this incident.
At approximately 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, HESS was arrested with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Tactics and Rescue Unit.
HESS will appear in bail court on alleged prior charges.

Brantford Police Service are advising the public of a man wanted for a May 23, 2021 robbery at a convenience store located on Brant Ave, in the City of Brantford, in addition to two recent gas station robberies which occurred in Ancaster and the County of Brant.
The male suspect has been identified as Corey Landon Lee HESS, 32, of Ohsweken. HESS has ties to Brantford, Hamilton and Six Nations and is believed to be in the area.
HESS is described as an aboriginal male, approximately 5’11”, 350 lbs, with long brown hair and scruffy facial hair.
HESS was observed driving a burgundy, 4-door, sport utility vehicle (photo attached).
Security camera images have been released.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest. HESS stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Robbery
- Attempted Robbery x2
- Weapons Dangerous x3
- Failure to Comply with Judicial Release Order x3
HESS should be considered armed and dangerous.

CRIME BRIEF: June 4, 2021
Type: Break and Enter
Incident: 21-19482
Location: Lynden Road / Wayne Gretzky Parkway
On Saturday, May 29, 2021 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Brantford Police were dispatched to a retail location at Lynden Road and Wayne Gretzky Parkway for an alarm call. A male was observed to be hiding behind the location and then fled on foot towards West Street.
Brantford Police Service K9 unit attended and located the suspect male who was attempting to hide between parked vehicles at a nearby location.
When the accused was located, he was wielding a knife and refusing to comply with police demands. The accused was taken into custody without further incident after a K9 apprehension.
A search incident to arrest found the accused to be in possession of break-in tools.
Video footage from the retail location, allowed officers to confirm details of the incident inside the store where the accused stolen items and caused damage to the warehouse area.
At the time of arrest, the accused had two outstanding warrants for his arrest and was bound by an undertaking with the condition that he not possess any weapons, as well as a probation order with the conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
As a result of the investigation, the accused, Christopher FUDGE, 32, of Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Break and Enter and Commit
- Mischief under $5000
- Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000
- Possess break in tools
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Breach Probation
- Breach Undertaking

Location: Colborne Street West
On Monday, May 31, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to a call after an unknown female was denied entry to an apartment building located at Colborne Street West and struck the female attendant before leaving the scene on foot.
The attendant received minor injuries which did not require medical attention.
The suspect in this incident is outstanding and is described as female, Caucasian, with medium build, and brown hair worn in a messy bun. At the time of the incident she was wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops.

Location: Henry Street and Wayne Gretzky Parkway
On Monday, May 31, 2021, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Brantford Police Service observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Wayne Gretzky Parkway and conducted a traffic stop at Henry Street and Wayne Gretzky Parkway.
Investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle was wanted for a Breach of Conditional Probation Sentence Order and multiple Undertakings. As a result, the accused was arrested.
A search incident to arrest found the accused to be in possession of two pairs of brass knuckles, a folding knife and approximately 99 mg of suspected Fentanyl.
As a result of this investigation, Jade Angelina MARTINS, 26, of Brantford stands charged with the following charges:
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon x2 contrary to the Criminal Code
- Fail to Comply With Undertaking x4 contrary to the Criminal Code
- Possession of Substance in Schedule I contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
- Operation While Prohibited contrary to the Criminal Code
- Drive Motor Vehicle no licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and
- Allegation of a Breach of a Conditional Sentence Order
The accused was held for bail.

Location: Wayne Gretzky Parkway @ Highway 403W Off-Ramp
On Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at approximately 8:29 p.m., Officers with the Brantford Police Service conducted a traffic stop on Wayne Gretzky Parkway at the Highway 403 West off-ramp.
Police had observed two subject vehicles racing, attempting to overtake each other, at an estimated rate of speed between 150 and 200 km/hr. The posted speed limit is 70 km/hr.
As a result, a 33-year-old male driver from Brantford and a 36-year-old male driver from Scotland were both charged with the offence of racing contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. Both vehicles were towed and impounded for 7 days as required by law. Additionally, both drivers served a seven day drivers license suspension.
