UPDATE - WEST STREET TRAFFIC REOPENED

Please be advised that traffic has now resumed in both directions on West Street between Morton Avenue and Edmondson Drive.

We would like to thank the public for their patience as hydro crews and officers worked to clear the area and conduct their investigation.

As a result of the incident, a 35-year-old female driver from Cambridge stands charged with a number of offences including Careless Driving and Unsafe Move under the Highway Traffic Act, a Municipal Bylaw infraction for the destruction of the hydro pole, and a charge for having an open alcohol container within the vehicle under the Liquor Licence Act.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

At approximately 10:15 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2025, officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to a single vehicle collision, where the vehicle struck a hydro pole on West Street between Edmondson Drive and Morton Avenue.

Hydro crews are on scene, but repairs are expected to take several hours.

As a result of the collision, the Brantford Police Service are advising motorists that West Street is closed in both directions between Edmondson Drive and Morton Avenue.

Motorists and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area and take alternate routes.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle has been transported to hospital for minor physical injuries.
