BPS officers arrest 33-year-old man after stabbing incident

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, at approximately 10:40 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to reports of a stabbing near the intersection of Dalhousie Street and Market Street.
Upon arrival, officers located a male victim on the ground suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency medical care was provided at the scene, and the victim was transported to hospital by ambulance. He remains in serious but stable condition.
Officers contained the area and initiated an investigation. During this time, an unrelated female approached an officer and proceeded to assault them for no apparent reason. She was promptly taken into custody, and charged accordingly.
Through further investigation, it was determined that an altercation between the victim and a group of individuals occurred. During the altercation, a 33-year-old male suspect allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times. The suspect was later located, arrested, and taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old male of Brantford has been charged with the following offences:
- Assault with a Weapon, contrary to Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code
- Aggravated Assault, contrary to Section 268 of the Criminal Code
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, contrary to Section 88 of the Criminal Code
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
In addition to frontline patrol officers, members of the Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit, Emergency Response Team, and Forensic Identification Unit were involved in the investigation.
