Brantford man, arrested and charged by BPS for production of counterfeit currency

A 29-year-old man from Brantford has been arrested and charged with a number of offences related to the production of counterfeit currency.

On May 3, 2025, at approximately 8:50 a.m., officers responded to a report of an unconscious man in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle at a Darling Street location. 

Officers attended and located the man within the vehicle. The man was unable to provide required proof of insurance and was found to be operating the vehicle while in violation of multiple driving suspensions and prohibitions. 

Search incident to arrest found the accused in possession of a large amount of counterfeit currency.

Then, on Sunday May 4, 2025, the Drug and Firearm Enforcement Unit assisted the BPS General Investigations Unit and Uniform Patrol as they executed a search warrant at a Marlborough Street residence.

The search resulted in numerous items being located, including multiple printers, holographic paper, a bundle of counterfeit currency, a heat press, and multiple electronic devices. 

As a result of this investigation, a 29-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following: 
•    Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited 
•    Driving While Under Suspension x 2
•    Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance 
•    Probation Order Non-Compliance 
•    Possessing Counterfeit Money - Have in Custody 
•    Adult, possessing instruments for counterfeiting 
•    Adult Making Counterfeit Money 

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
