Brantford Police Service to Launch Pilot Project Testing New Uniforms

The Brantford Police Service (BPS) is starting a pilot project in which several members of the Service will be testing various uniform options over the coming months.

As part of this initiative, community members may notice some officers wearing uniforms that differ slightly from the traditional BPS attire. This project is being undertaken to explore potential updates that could enhance officer visibility, safety, and comfort, while continuing to ensure uniforms are functional for the wide range of duties officers perform.

Improved visibility helps strengthen public confidence by making officers easier to identify in different settings, while increased comfort and practicality support officer wellness during long shifts and demanding physical activity.

While this project is underway, all uniformed members of the Brantford Police Service will remain clearly identifiable as police officers. Officers participating in the pilot will continue to wear the official Brantford Police Service flash on the upper arm, and there will be no changes to the official BPS crest or logo.

Robin Matthews-Osmond, BPS Corporate Communications Manager emphasized that public trust and officer visibility remain priorities:

“We want to assure our community that while uniforms may look slightly different during this pilot project, all officers remain easily identifiable as members of the Brantford Police Service. This project is about exploring options that may enhance officer visibility and comfort, while upholding the professionalism and integrity that our crest and logo represent.”

The Brantford Police Service will evaluate the pilot project at its conclusion to determine whether any adjustments to uniforms will be adopted in the future.
