Parking Complaint Escalates to Impaired Driving Arrest, Firearm Seizure, and Drug Trafficking Charges
On January 3rd, 2026, members of the Brantford Police Service responded to a report of a vehicle parked in an accessible parking space, without authorization, at a local business. Upon arrival, officers located a female occupant asleep in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
Further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drugs.
During the investigation, officers seized an unauthorized firearm, along with evidence consistent with drug trafficking.
Officers also established that the female was currently on a release in relation to previous criminal charges and was found to be in breach of her release conditions.
As a consequence of the impaired driving investigation, the vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days. It was determined that the driver was not licensed to operate a motor vehicle. In addition to criminal charges, the accused also faces charges under the Highway Traffic Act, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, Cannabis Control Act, and the Liquor Licence and Control Act.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody, pending a future court appearance.
