SIU Invokes Mandate after BPS Respond to Man with Knife

Members of the Brantford Police Service arrested a 41-year-old man from Brantford on July 1, 2025, after receiving reports of a man brandishing a knife at several people at a Henry Street gas station.
At approximately 7:00 a.m. officers arrived on scene, the suspect refused to comply with officers.
After an interaction with police, the male was taken into custody and stands charged with the offences of possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, and three counts of assault with a weapon.
No physical injuries to the public or police occurred as a result of the incident.
As a result of interaction with officers, the Brantford Police Service have notified the province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate. As such, Brantford Police Service will be unable to provide further information or comment related to the incident.
