SIU Invokes Mandate after BPS Respond to Weapons Related Call

Members of the Brantford Police Service arrested a 31-year-old man from Brantford on March 27, 2026, after receiving a report of threatened assault involving a weapon.

At approximately 4:20 a.m. officers arrived on scene. After an interaction with police, the male was taken into custody and stands charged with the offences of carry a concealed weapon, failure to comply, fail to attend and possession contrary to order.

No physical injuries to the public or police occurred as a result of the incident.

As a result of interaction with officers, the Brantford Police Service have notified the province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate. As such, Brantford Police Service will be unable to provide further information or comment related to the incident.
