CRIME BRIEF: November 4, 2021

Type:                  Assault

Location:          Dalhousie Street / Queen Street

Officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to an assault at a restaurant located at Dalhousie Street and Queen Street.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Monday, November 1, 2021, while in the area, officers were advised of a female who was in the restaurant washroom assaulting an employee.

It is alleged that the employee repeatedly asked the accused to leave the premises. The woman refused to leave and assaulted the employee. The employee sustained minor injuries.

As a result, a 45-year-old female of Brantford (No Fixed Address) stands charged with Assault under the Criminal Code.

Location:           Colborne Street

On Thursday, October 28, 2021, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were on patrol in the area of Colborne Street when they observed two men slumped in their seats inside a parked, running vehicle.
 
Officers stopped to check their well-being and woke the men. Speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. Drug paraphernalia was observed in clear view. 
 
The accused was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation. 
 
Search incident to arrest revealed several bags of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.
 
The accused was transported for a Drug Evaluation to be completed by a drug evaluator expert. The accused performed poorly.
 
As a result of the investigation, a 68-year-old man from Brantford (No Fixed Address) stands charged with Impaired Operation by Drug contrary to the Criminal Code.

Additionally, a licence suspension was issued and the vehicle impounded as per law.

Location:            Richter Street
 

On Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 5:00 a.m., the Brantford Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen to advise of a possible impaired driver.
 
Officers located the accused and the subject vehicle at a residence on Richter Street.
 
Speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of impairment. 
 
The accused was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and provided two samples of his breath as required by law. Both samples were in excess of the legal limit.
 
As a result of the investigation, the accused stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 
Operation While Impaired 
80 Plus 

Additionally, a licence suspension was issued and the vehicle impounded as per law.

Suspect Information Requested in Relation to Assault

The Brantford Police Service continue to investigate an assault and robbery involving the theft of a vehicle and are now seeking additional suspect information from the public.

On Thursday, October 28, 2021, at approximately 10:20 p.m., in the area of Helen Avenue near Princess Anne Park, a male victim was operating his vehicle, when he was approached by two unknown men.

One of the suspects entered the vehicle through the passenger side door and began punching the victim. The victim was then forcibly removed from his vehicle and assaulted. 

The two suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle which is described as a blue, 2021 Volkswagen Passat.

A description of the suspects is not available.

Police are requesting assistance in identifying the two male suspects and the location of the stolen vehicle.

The victim was transported to hospital and received treatment for serious injuries.

BPS Investigate Suspicious Package Located by Citizen

UPDATE:

Brantford Police Service have cleared the scene at 185 King George Road as it has been determined that the suspicious package does not pose any threat to the public. 

Oxford Street has been reopened. 

We would like to thank the public for their assistance and patience as officers worked to ensure the safety of the public.


Original Release:

Officers with the Brantford Police Service are on scene to investigate a suspicious package located by a concerned citizen.

The suspicious package was found outside a retail plaza located at 185 King George Road at approximately 8:15 a.m., this morning.

As a precautionary measure, the occupants of the plaza, as well as the East Side of a nearby apartment building located at 7 Olivetree Road have been evacuated until further notice.

Oxford Street has been closed to traffic. Brantford police request the public avoid the area.
