Brantford Police Arrest Man in Downtown Drug Trafficking Investigation

On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, members of the Brantford Police Service Core Engagement and Response Team (C.E.R.T.) conducted a drug investigation in downtown Brantford. 

During the investigation, police identified and arrested a male suspect for trafficking illegal drugs in Victoria Park near Market Street. 

A search conducted following the arrest resulted in the seizure of:

• 3.9 grams of fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $780.
• 8.4 grams of crack cocaine, with an estimated street value of $1,280.
• Twelve hydromorphone pills, with an estimated street value of $240.
• Canadian currency.
• A set of brass knuckles.
• Drug trafficking paraphernalia

As a result of the investigation, a 55-year-old man from Brantford has been charged with:

• Possession for the Purpose of Schedule I — Fentanyl, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
• Possession for the Purpose of Schedule I — Cocaine, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
• Possession for the Purpose of Schedule I — Hydromorphone, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and
• Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, contrary to Section 91(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

In total, police seized 12.3 grams of controlled substances, twelve pills, and a prohibited weapon, with an estimated combined street value of approximately $2,300.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

The Core Engagement and Response Team (C.E.R.T.) is a dedicated team focused on enhancing community safety through proactive policing, high-visibility patrols, and targeted enforcement. Working primarily within Brantford’s downtown core, C.E.R.T. officers and Special Constables engage with residents, businesses, and community partners while responding to ongoing concerns, identifying emerging issues, and conducting enforcement and investigative activities to help keep the community safe.
