Male in custody, charged with second degree murder after stabbing

As a result of continued investigation, a 28-year-old man is in custody after police responded to an incident that claimed the life of another man earlier this evening.

On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers responded to a trail area near Grand River Avenue and Morrell Street after receiving a report of a disturbance involving two men. 

Early investigation revealed that one man had been assaulted and stabbed. Despite receiving life-saving measures, this man succumbed to his injuries. A second man, who was located at the scene and was transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries, has now been arrested by police.

Police believe that this an isolated incident. No other suspects are wanted by police. The weapon believed to have been used in the incident has been recovered by police. No threat to public safety exists as a result of this incident. 

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following:

  • Murder – second degree
