Police investigate disturbance; seek witness information

On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers responded to a trail area near Grand River Avenue and Morrell Street after receiving a report of a disturbance involving two men.

When police arrived, they located a man that appeared to have been involved in a physical altercation and was suffering from serious injuries. Despite receiving life-saving measures, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. A second man was located at the scene and transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Police believe that this an isolated incident. No other suspects are wanted by police. No threat to public safety exists as a result of this incident. Additional information will be released once available.

Detectives are working to determine the circumstances related to the incident and are asking anyone with information or, who may have witnessed this incident, are asked to contact the Brantford Police Service at 519-756-7050 and reference incident # 26-14905.
